There are several reasons for this 5 star review: #1 Palermo management is SO much more effective than it was years back. Polite, attentive and accessible. This didn’t use to be the case. Excellent work on this improvement of management. #2 staff. There are a handful of people that have been working at Palermo for many years. They are phenomenal. (Guillermo -Memo) bring one of those great humans. #3 price and quality of food. That simple. It’s good. Not the cheapest, but, your eating poolside in a resort. This to has been a noticeable improvement over the years. #4 security and location. Spend sometime in SJDS and you can then appreciate the constant security.
It was a nice resort, clean, and the staff was pretty good at being attentive on our knees. Towels at the beach were huge. The rooms were spacious compared to a lot of other resorts that we’ve been to. Unfortunately we did not have a view of the ocean or beach. Check in time was extremely slow 45 minutes. At 6 PM
This is not a resort. Location is in the middle of nowhere. This is a timeshare for local families and young kids from Managua and other parts of nicaragua who go to party. Everyone smokes, drinks and plays loud music. Furnishings in the villas are old and need to be replaced. Don’t ask for any service because they have no on site maintenance to fix anything. No one to call to ask people to turn music down. Not even any security guards. Good thing we had no emergency because there was no one to help. We left early and glad to be gone. This is not a resort. Stay away.
Loud party next door with over thirty people. Very noisy. Loud speakers. They were all drinking heavily and drunk. No one from the resort asked them to be quiet. Not even at 3am. No security anywhere. This was an awful night and never ever going back.
Nice rooms, beautiful landscape, friendly and joyful staff, I get to meet Hotel Manager Mrs Marianela Cortes with a sincere smile always in her face and ready to help at anytime, she personally delivered lifejackets to my kids by the pool. Even though it´s nearly a 40 minutes walk from town, is compensated by the majestic view of San Juan del Sur bay definitely a place I´d love to get back as soon as I can, keep up with the good work
We've stayed several times booking through hotel directly and through Villa owners. We prefer directly with hotel as the rate includes breakfast and electricity. The GM mrs. Cortes is always ready to help. The staff is wonderful. Our daughter loves the pool.
My husband and I just spent 2 months at Villas de Palermo, for one month our daughter and her family joined us. This was the second year we went there and we really enjoyed our stay. The restaurant, the services, people being soooo kind :) Of course "the situation" in Nicaragua made the shuttle and the restaurant a little bit less available than last year, but the kindness of the personnel made us forget that! We felt very safe all the time, very welcome and we really hope to go back next year !
I just returned from a month’s stay at Palermo. The villas are beautiful, well maintained, and have fantastic views. The pool area is pristine and again offers an outstanding view. Staff is friendly and attentive and could not have been better. It really is a very, very nice place. The resort is both isolated from and a solid 40 minute walk to town, however, invariably in the heat, and it’s not a pretty or easy walk either. Definitely not what I expected. And while the resort offers a shuttle, they’ve cut back on the hours that it operates - and without telling me in advance - because of low occupancy due to the recent political crisis in the country, and the cost of cabs to and from town can really add up. Finally, while again the staff can’t be beat, the restaurant is expensive for what you get and there are many, many better options in town. I spent $15 for eggs, gallo pinto, orange juice and coffee, and for San Juan del Sur that is a LOT of money. The bottom line is that if you’re looking for very nice and quiet accommodations away from town, Palermo can’t be beat. Just be aware that that is what you are going to get: very nice and quiet accommodations away from town. …
I spent two night in the Villas de Palermo with my family, we were placed at a villa where fit 7 persons perfectly, cleaning was excellent, all you need if you want cook, full equipped kitchen, furniture, bedrooms with air conditioning, terrace with a beautiful view, all the villa was comfortable, pool is small, you have all near to the villa, supermarket, San Juan bay is at 5 minutes. All our experience was totally satisfactory!
We stayed at the Villas for a week. We wish it was longer. A comfortable, spacious, safe and tranquil apartment with stylish fittings. A great base for us to explore San Juan del Sur . The staff were exceptionally friendly and frequently cleaning included, added to our relaxed vibe. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend and hope to return on our next trip to Nicaragua.
