My friend and I stayed at Maderas Village for one night. It was definitely a unique experience. The bungalows were very cool. It was like staying in a tree house. We had dinner with the group and hung out with everyone over drinks after dinner. Overall, it was a great experience. I don't thin it's for everyone though - it...

We stayed at MV for 2 nights- (*we were delayed getting into Nicaragua so our originally planned 3 night stay was reduced. The hotel did not require payment for our missed night with short notice - which was very appreciated.) A wonderful idea of bringing travelers together through communal spaces and events, we hoped to find creative and spirited travelers...

Maderas Village, our home away from home! Rachel Wainwright, Founder of Exhale Yoga Retreats visited Playa Madera in 2014 exploring for a new location to host yoga retreats and teacher-trainings. She found that Maderas Village has a special and unique vibe that is orchestrated by one of its founders, Dickie. After sharing visions it was a match made in heaven....

I have nothing but positive things to say about our 4 nights here. I came with a girlfriend from San Francisco looking to relax, do yoga, surf and meet wonderful people and we did all of that. The setting is absolutely beautiful, the food and drinks are delicious, the yoga shala is stunning and peaceful but more than anything the...

Maderas Village has a great website and social media game and the hotel itself is beautiful. However, the American/Canadian owners need to work on their customer service. It was unclear who we were supposed to talk to about setting up day trips, etc. At one point one of the young staff members told us we could "google it" when asking...

Stayed here for 2 nights and was left kinda underwhelmed. As other reviews have said, their social media game is very strong and they definitely have their "aesthetic" dialled. The American staff there that were running the place were reasonably helpful and the dining room and kitchen staff were top notch. The rooms were beautiful and there were a lot...

In the rural part, you'll find a paradise. Expect no more than chilling, surfing, yoga and fun. But on holiday that's all you need. The drive down there can be a bit wild, but it's worth the travel! We stayed in a private cabin, there are no warm showers, but again that's something you will get used too!

I have been to Maderas three times, and I don't want to take anything away from the hardworking staff there. Everyone working there is doing the best, but under an ownership that could care less about anything than the almighty dollar, it's less than inspiring. It's located very close to a beach, but it's a dry, treacherous walk with steep...

I stayed here on a girl's trip recently and have mixed feelings. Overall, the place was nice but it was EXTREMELY minimal. As in, they don't even give you a fresh towel and you literally only have a bath towel. No hand towel, washcloth, bath mat, etc. The huts themselves were really cool as were the hotel grounds. The actual...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are located at Maderas Beach, about 20 minutes outside of San Juan del Sur. We offer a three daily meals, either a la carte or as part of a pre-fixe menu. We are like a boutique hotel, but less pretentious. We love people who want a place to surf, read, debate, and do yoga daily; who want to lose themselves in a place, and find themselves in the people. We offer tailored packages for short-term guests and very reasonably priced rates for people planning to stay longer than 3 weeks. We are not in Lonely Planet or other guidebooks; we like having to be found. ... more   less
