We stayed here on a Wendy Wu tour - we were told it was a government hotel. The hotel was clean enough and facilities included kettle and bottled water. There were issues in our group with getting hot water in the shower and some of the rooms were cold. At the time they had no catering on and we had... More

Hotel used by Wendy Wu tours - basic hotel but not clean. Walk into the lobby and its freezing cold in early October. No heat. Room looked good but shower (basically the whole bathroom is the shower) stall is dirty. You need to wear your coat down to eat in the dining room as there is no heat. Food adequate.... More

Loved the décor of this Tibetan hotel, staff were very friendly. Had walking shoes repaired and left at reception, staff were all smiles when I came to collect them. The room was small and very basic, comfortable for one night's stay. Was surprised how modern the buildings were becoming in the one main street. Even located a KFC on a... More

This government-owned hotel is in the poorest part of the poorest province in China, and the facilities do not match those in other towns. My wife and I spent two nights here on a Wendy Wu 'Silk Road Explorer' tour, and our room (no.611) had a tea maker and an old TV with no foreign language channels. The beds were... More

It used to be the best hotel in the Xiahe County, but the facilities and rooms are old these days and with the development of the small city, there are many better choices there. We stayed 2 nights in Wangfu Hotel. Arrived in mid-night and have to park our car in a yard next to the hotel. We were charged... More

A little shabby and our carpet was stained. The food was not bad and the store next door was interesting. The reception spoke a little bit of English. The elevator was broken and we had to take the stairs and that is when you see how dirty the place is. This is a one street town and we walked almost... More

We were quite satiffied with this hotel. We found it clean and nice. The staff spoke little english, but check in was performed quickly, no issues. The room was large and clean. The carpet looked fine, so maybe it was refurbished as I read some older review claiming is was stained and dirty. We were there in spring so I... More

After spending 8 hours on a train and 6 hours on a bus to get to Xiahe and stepping into the -15deg celcius temp with 15kg back packs you can imagine we arrived at the Wangfu hotel very eager to shower and relax a little and what a suprise it was to find they had no room booking for us... More

I chose this hotel after reading Singapore Girl and marekw's reviews. It had snowed when I pulled into Xiahe and was really chilly after the heat in Beijing and even Lanzhou. Felt like I was coming down with a cold from the shock. Hoping for the reviewed hot water and having read more negative hot water comments for other hotels/hostels,... More

This is a government run hotel and it is clean, quiet and serviceable. The food is adequate including some comical attempts at western breakfast but you won't starve or get ill. You are here to see the monastery so enjoy that! The hotel shop is actually pretty good. Run by local Tibetans with local stuff. There may be other places... More
