Long drive on a dirt road to get here... but so WORTH it! ( don't follow google maps directions.. only GPS coordinates) The rock formations are amazing. Accommodation is simple but fits within your surroundings. Beautiful dinner under the stars - breath-taking. My kids loved the pool - which was cool on a HOT summers day.

What a relief to start your new year in a place where one is overwhelmed with the beauty and splendour of creation!! The smell of the veld in the early morning, the scorching sun during the day, the kaleidoscope of colours at sunset, the star-filled heaven in the evenings, the dassies on the rocks, beetles knocking on the soil in...

The nature, landscape, and night skies are truly stunning - the rooms in the caves are interesting and fine. Yet the food was not even average. We expected the typical South African wonderful taste and delicious food. We wanted to treat ourselves.... but both breakfast and supper were not even average and absolutely nothing special. Must say it really ruined...

On booking not informed that B&B plus a La Carte was an option. Told nearest restaurant 100 kms distant so Full Board only real alternative. Not so. So ZAR 7200/day for two. Food was unappetizing and presentation similar. Entitled to two excursions/day, but if overbooked not supplied with an extra vehicle so Full Board fee not able to be fulfilled....

First of all, what a beautiful drive it was! Driving from Cape Town to the Ceres Karoo may seem like a far way to go, but my goodness, the photos you will take and the stunning landscapes you'll admire. Once there, the good times just kept rolling. Yes, it's scorching hot and there's not much shade if you're camping, like...

Stayed at one of the chalets for a view days in the middle of winter. Superb view and strange rock formations. A cosy fire place and lots of wine kept us warm from the inside as well as from outside. Daily fresh baked bread is one of the highlights.

We expected a far grander experience for the amount charged. Small details would have upped the luxury factor, crisp linnen, a view out of the cave onto the horizon rather than a bush - cave 6 - . The room left much to be desired and was not really conducive to relaxing indoors - the food was quite horrific and...

This is a nice reserve with friendly staff and a small spa. The setting is lovely, but it is quite a drive on a gravel road to get to the reserve and if you do not have a robust vehicle it can take quite long to do that drive. The pool is small but nice. The cave rooms are a...

We stayed for 2 nights in one of the well-equipped, self-catering chalets which was located in the rocky landscape with a wonderful, wide open vista and a short driving distance from the resort's reception and restaurant. During our short stay, we enjoyed 2 guided excursions, the 'Morning Game Drive' and 'Bushman Culture'; spa treatments at the Health and Beauty Salon;...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Kagga Kamma is an absolute treat for travellers seeking a unique and inspiring experience. On your visit you will see a part of Africa that is unlike any other. The Cederberg Mountain’s otherworldly rock formations, a crisp sky stretching endlessly overhead and beautiful rock art from an ancient culture, is the backdrop to a wonderful adventure. Kagga Kamma’s accommodation options are as unique as the landscape it is set in. The Bushman Lodge offers spacious en-suite thatched rondavels/huts. The famous 'cave suites' built against the sandstone rock formations will take you back to a prehistoric time without taking away any modern-day luxuries. Kagga Kamma also offers a one of a kind Outcrop open-air “room” where guests can sleep under the stars in sheer luxury - definitely a not-to-be-missed experience.Speaking of the stars...Take a tour into the milky way when you visit our mini-observatory. It promises to be an inspirational experience when you view the Karoo night skies through our 10-inch telescope. While the sun is out you can opt for a journey back in time with our popular rock art tours. Our expert ranger will interpret the 6000 year old Bushmen paintings and living sites scattered all across the nature reserve.Other activities to be enjoyed at Kagga Kamma include relaxing nature drives with our knowledgeable guides, hiking trails, quad bike safaris, mountain bike trails, a 4x4 route and our Kagga Kamma Relax Spa. Even eating out at Kagga Kamma will be a matchless experience when you visit the restaurant for breakfast and lunch, and an outdoor lapa surrounded by beautiful rock formations for dinner under the starlit night skies in summer time. There is also a pub and lounge area with Wi-Fi internet, as well as satellite television for watching sports events. GPS co-ordinates:Latitude: S 32 44 45Longitude: E 19 33 46 ... more   less
