I am handicapped. I try to live my life to the fullest! My wife and I selected the ADA room because of its size, grab rails--and safety. Friends of ours had a "regular" room here so we could spend a weekend together. Hawley is equidistant from our homes. The room was wonderful--and the staff were too! David, our check-in person was charming, witty and competent. He gave us a sketch of things of interest in the area. Whenever I called the desk with a question, he helped out---and made me feel at home! The Ledges has a picturesque view of the waterfall and the rock faces over which water flows. It's all very romantic--even to us married 56 years! I heartily recommend this hotel as a GREAT weekend get-away! We plan on returning soon!
Highly overpriced hotel with misleading marketing. My wife and I recently stayed at Ledges for a weekend get away. We were greatly disappointed with almost every aspect of the hotel itself, especially given the "high end" marketing and price. First, for fairness I'll start with some good things. We stayed in a two story single bedroom suite and the room was clean and well stocked with towels, dishes, etc. Everything we used in the room worked and all the staff we interacted with were friendly. That's about where the "pros" end. The "cons" of this hotel begin with the price tag. At $380 a night we expected the quality to be real but sadly it was nowhere to be found. This hotel has a great view of a water fall and overlooking courtyard space. However, our room was on the opposite side of building with a view of the parking lot, an orange extension ladder, and storage shed. Not what we paid for. The room itself was poorly maintained. TV wires and cable boxes hanging loose on the wall. Unfinished patches in drywall and peeling paint. This is not "high end". The spiral staircase was a cool idea, but poorly executed. The staircase requires a large circular hole between floors. The hole in our room was never finished with molding or patching of any kind and left with holes in the plaster and the edges of the cut off floorboards exposed. Simply put, it looked like cheap and lazy handyman work. The bathroom was a quite large space that could have been beautifully outfitted with a large shower, sort of like the "two person rain shower" described in the room listing. Instead the hotel put almost no attention into this space. Instead we found a simple vanity with scratches and missing knobs accompanied by a weird plastic shower stall insert that was barely high enough for a man to stand up in. Certainly not for two people, certainly not "luxury". It was like showering in a phone booth. This was a big missed opportunity for what could have been an impressive bathroom in the suite. The furniture in our room was supposed to be "modern" and "European" but instead in came off more like a college dorm room and we had to move the couch in order to watch the TV. The climate control unit on the upper floor was bulky, loud, and not something that should be found in a room at this price. Lastly, I realize the building is old but the floor in our room was VERY slanted. So much so that we took a video of a soda can being placed on the floor which instantly raced away on it's own. It was simply ridiculous. Ledges ownership and marketing want it to be something they are not living up to. The "high end" image put forward in marketing is just plain non-sense. My wife and I spent well more than we normally would with the expectation of a "luxury weekend" we could spend in a fancy hotel suite to get away before the holiday run around. Unfortunately, the state of this room completely ruined our weekend. Needless to say, we will not be back.…
We wanted a getaway for Thanksgiving and found ledges online. Absolute charming place to stay. It was an old silk factory in late 1800's. Checking in was a breeze and I can't thank the staff enough. They made us feel like family, were so welcoming and helpful. Our room had a queen bed and a chaise lounge. The rooms aren't huge but had space for a roll away last minute when our son surprised us from Florida. They were more than accommodating. The parlor has a Keurig machine that was attended to 24/7 ..it has a cozy fireplace and stunning view of the falls. There is cocoon coffee shop right up the hill for breakfast sandwiches and lunch. I can't wait to go back in the fall to see the foliage. We look forward to going back again especially in the fall to see the foliage.
Our family has enjoyed the Ledges several times. It offers the classic inn experience, including welcoming, friendly and helpful front desk staff who generously offer recommendations and suggestions and a common space in which we enjoy relaxing - including a beautiful fireplace and gameboards. Its surrounding are magnificent. The town of Hawley offers a number of great antique shops.
We were staying at The Settlers Inn but we wanted to see the view from the Ledges Hotel. We parked the car and looked over the railing. That is when Barbra came outside and said to please come in to the lobby so that we can see the full view. Excellent staff at both the Ledges Hotel and the Settlers Inn.
Our Family Gathering @ LEDGES Hotel can best be described as a Breathtaking Adventure, full of waterfalls, mini canyons and tiki torches. The Staff is FANTISTIC, helpful & pleasant in every way (in particular, MICHELLE who will 'cart' you around the premises & DAVE @ the Front Desk who will service your every need). We stayed in a 2 BR Suite which was fully equipped with everything necessary. My only 'complaint' was that we didn't have enough time to stay longer! Hopefully, next time...
Had dinner reservations with friends for a party of 6. We were celebrating a birthday and anniversary. We placed our order including appetizers and entrees. The food took over an hour to come out and it al came out together. We never got apps out first, which is usually the norm. The food was just ok and Nothing spectacular. The truffle fries were $11 and were just normal steak fries with no truffle oil taste what so ever! We will never go back. The only reason we gave 2 stars was the views are beautiful! Go on a hike and take your pictures for free and save your money!
The marketing was done so well which is why I wanted to give this boutique hotel in Hawley a try. My room not including the bathroom on the first floor was about 117 sq/ft (approx. 13’x9’) for over $200 per night. Bathroom was fine but the sleeping area was small (as opposed to “cozy”). Like other similar reviews, the lobby and waterfalls were nice but the room you actually paid for was disappointingly small and outdated. No front desk service after hours so can’t even get a can of soda at 10PM. The Cocoon coffee and bakery was not well stocked and like the Ledge Hotel, well marketed but does not match its reality. Ate dinner at the Settler’s Inn which was good but at Manhattan prices. It’s a one and done for me in this place. Maybe for other people what I mentioned is not a priority but I will not be back.…
Beautiful Facility, Great Staff, I can’t say anything bad,. Well worth the money. Went during pandemic and still was a good time , some packages include food credits at the restaurant in the two hotels. Breakfast included. Overall great value.
Recommended as a special get away, our experience was disappointing. The contemporary 2 room we had was more like an upscale youth hostel room. The thermostat never seemed to work, the shower temperature was never very warm, but was totally cold on the final day. Contact with reception about thermostat and shower temperature were met with ambivalence unfortunately, or no solution. As one of the reception people told us, the best thing about their job was that they got to read their novels. Information that could have made our stay more comfortable - e.g. availability of ice only during reception hours - would have been helpful but was never offered: we had to ask first (and before reception closed). I phoned prior to our stay to establish whether there were coffee machines in our room, and was given incorrect information (I could have brought my own had I been given correct information). Although coffee is meant to be available in the reception, it was frequently (75% of the time) empty or cold. It was made to clear to us that it was an enormous bother when reception were asked about when coffee might be available. The setting is beautiful, and the lounge area really nice. I don't think that we would choose to stay here again as we felt the room was not good value for the price we paid. I hate writing this review as I know how difficult it is to find staff at the current time, so I hope some of these points might help with staff training or information provided in the rooms.…
