We were treated by family members to a memorable stay at the Historic Fairfield Inn in celebration of our 50th wedding anniversary. We settled into our suite in Carriage House 3 on a picturesque Sunday afternoon, just in time to wander over to the beautiful Main House for Tea and homemade scrumptious snacks. Our room was tastefully decorated with all...

Thank you for your excellent review of your recent stay at the Carriage House. As much as we would like to take credit for your experience, it appears as though you may have stayed at the Brickhouse Inn in Gettysburg, another excellent bed and breakfast facility. Next time you come to visit, please consider staying and eating at the Historic...

We have been attending the Christmas feast for years and this year was the worst. The food was terrible and unedible. Our "prime rib" was so tough that we could not even cut it. The rest of the menu was not tasty at all. We also noticed a lot of other guests who's plates looked like they didn't eat much...

The inn is conveniently located on the main street in Fairfield, PA, just minutes from Gettysburg. It is an odd mixture of old and new. The shower, sink, etc. were modern as was the individual heat/AC for the room. I guess you could say the place had character - it is quite old and has things like a full glass...

My husband and I were the only guests the night of our stay. The owner and staff were friendly and accommodating. The inn is very clean and the food was great. We can't wait to go back! It was so charming and inviting. Can't wait to eat dinner there!

We have stayed at this inn a few times and have always been very happy with the accommodations and the staff. We ate dinner there a few weeks ago and the new chef and menu are amazing. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

Since we live in the surrounding area, we will probably never stay there , besides breakfast is way overrated . However two nights a week you can get maybe the best dinner in a 50 mile radius, along with an excellent bottle of local wine . My wife and I have been to all the best restaurants in the area...

Thanks for writing about your visit. I wish you had had a better experience. I especially appreciate that you pointed out the tilt to the bed. We have corrected that. I am not sure why you had difficulty getting inside the building. We send out a confirmation letter to each person, and include the code for the lock on the...

After reading the vast majority of the reviews, my wife and I were looking forward to staying at the Fairfield Inn. It didn't work out that we were there on the morning they served the amazing sounding chicken and waffles but we were still looking forward to the breakfast even though there wasn't a menu for breakfast to go by....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Historic Fairfield Inn offers an enticing, warm, unique and memorable experience. It has been in continuous operation since 1757, and is one of the five oldest continuously operating inns in the country. Our rooms and suites are sumptuously decorated, and our food delicious. The restaurant is noted for our Chicken and Biscuits, and our Ham and Bean Soup (which is the same recipe as was served to the retreating Confederate forces on July 4th, 1863). Visitors to the Historic Fairfield Inn include Patrick Henry, Thaddeus Stevens, Robert E. Lee, and Mamie Eisenhower. This is a "must stop" destination for visitors to Gettysburg. ... more   less
