I had the opportunity to stay three nights at Peggy Durant's Victorian Loft Bed and Breakfast. If you are looking for serenity, this is it! This wonderful Victorian home sits right near the beautiful, quietly-flowing Susquehanna River which you can see from "Lydia's Room" where I stayed. The room features two double beds, rocking chairs, a desk, an ample bookcase, closet and lovely appointments. You'll not find a better breakfast anywhere! I told my hostess that I was not much on breakfast, to which she replied; "Well, half of this is breakfast!" I decided to go with it, and wowee-wow-wow!!! Peggy fixed something different each morning with homegrown ingredients and specially procured breakfast meat from a local farmer. (see photos) In addition to the fine bedrooms, there are two sitting rooms and a main dining room. The sitting rooms are filled with lovely antiques, books, and other interesting articles. Not only that, Peggy is thoroughly acquainted with the local area and history which was a huge advantage to me as I was on a research trip. Finally, even though this is a Victorian home, it has all of the modern amenities that you would expect and the home is in walking distance of churches, shops, a wonderful historical society museum, business district, and the county courthouse. Five stars for sure!

I'm not sure where to begin! I was in town visiting relatives who have lived in the area for decades. I usually stay with an aunt, but since she was recovering from some health issues, I decided to stay in a B&B. This place is phenomenal. When I first made the reservation, I was wondering how it would be, as I have found some B&Bs to not be very practical for the modern traveler (wifi issues, fussy decor, uncomfortable furniture, etc.). But I stayed in Lydia's room and it exceeded expectations. The bed was super comfortable, there was plenty of room in the closet to hang clothes, and the rocking chair in the room was nice to sit and read. And wifi worked! The bathroom to Lydia's room is separate, but just adjacent. and there is a privacy curtain that allows you to go back and forth from the bathroom to bedroom while you're in your pajamas or robe. The bathroom also has a door that leads out onto a private balcony. I spent a lot of time in the evenings sitting on that balcony and looking at the river. Although the B&B is located on Front street, my room was very quiet. I hardly heard any road noise, only the chimes from the church a couple of houses down. I also didn't hear any other guests. I felt as though I had the house to myself! Breakfast was served in the morning and it was a pleasure visiting with other guests and some of Peggy's relatives, who happened to be there during the 4th of July weekend. The breakfasts were delicious and Peggy always tries to use local ingredients. The antiques she has throughout the home remind me so much of visiting my grandmothers in the area when I was a child. I will stay here again when I come back to Clearfield.

What a lovely bed and breakfast with gorgeous wood details throughout. We had the Lydia room that has access to a balcony. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the gliders sipping on lattes from The Angry Bean and looking at the fall foliage and the peaceful river across the road. We took a nice stroll through town to Ethan’s Cafe and had a great burger and super Dune fries! Beds are comfortable and everything is very clean and well maintained. Great place! The innkeeper is so accommodating and welcoming. Breakfast was wonderful. There is a loft suite upstairs that had 6 people staying in it but we never heard them. The sound proofing in the home is excellent. Don’t miss the opportunity to stay in this beautiful home!

My husband and I were recent guests at the Victorian Loft B&B. Our out of state vacation was cancelled due to COVID19 travelling restrictions. So, we instead ventured out with our masks and a supply of hand sanitizer for a 3 day roadtrip of the highways and byways and the rolling, gentle hills and majestic mountains of the PA Wilds. With the west branch of the Susquehanna River as our constant guide along Rt 120 and Rt 550, we explored elk country and the beautiful overlook vistas, were cooled off by mountain breezes and our senses filled with the fragrance of hemlock forests. Although we didn't see any elk, we did encounter a wild hen turkey who played " chicken " with our car as her chicks safely scampered into the weeds along the side of the road. As we started our descent from the mountain ranges, a grand view opened before us of the town of Clearfield ,settled in it's surrounding valley. Awaiting our arrival in Clearfield was innkeeper Peggy of the Victorian Loft B&B, where our relaxing day continued into a splendid evening of rest and peaceful sleep. We stayed in the comfortable spacious loft suite, ate our take out dinner in the well-stocked kitchenette and after which, I delighted in a long hot soak in the whirlpool tub. In the morning, breakfast smells of cinnamon and bacon drifted up to the loft, inviting us to a delicious breakfast of fresh fruit, blueberry pancakes, thick slices of bacon, and chocolate chip pumpkin muffins served upon china, cut crystal dishes and silver. Our experience at the Victorian Loft B&B was exceptionally wonderful, from the beginning to our departure. As we shared our roadtrip plans for the day,Peggy suggested a visit to Bilger's Rocks, a short drive south west of Clearfield, which we did visit and was well worth our time. Peggy is a gracious hostess and thoughtful innkeeper of a beautifully decorated, well-maintained historic home. If we travel to this area another time in the future with need for overnight accommodations, we would certainly hope to stay again and would recommend the Victorian Loft B&B to our family and friends, (which we already have!) PAroadtrip2020 - Perhaps you are a travel writer? You certainly could be as your write-up creates delightful mental pictures of what awaits a traveler to this area of the PA Wilds, as well thoughtful assessment of your stay at our B&B. My goal is always to provide a memorable breakfast for our guests each morning and from your review, it seems the goal was met. You made the most of your road trip - it is evident you did careful planning and yet were open to visiting Bilger's Rocks which hadn't been on your radar. Thank you for taking the time to write such a descriptive review. I am sure it will be helpful to future visitors considering a trip to the PA Wilds! -------Peggy

My husband and I travel to Clearfield, PA at least once a year to visit family. In the past, we've always stayed at a local hotel. This year we discovered this beauty. We stayed for three nights and absolutely loved it! We love older places and quaint furniture, but the icing on the cake was the excellent hospitality provided by the owner, the cleanliness of the place, and the delicious breakfasts. We are very big on cleanliness at the places we stay, and this sure didn't let us down. We think it may be the cleanest we've ever stayed at. In addition, the owner was very, very pleasant and made us feel so welcome. We arrived as strangers and departed as friends. We will be going back the next time we visit. Check out this gem for your next stay. It won't disappoint!

Dear 614jacclh - It has been wonderful having guests again after the pandemic shut-down in Pennsylvania. During the weeks we had no guests, I found out how much I missed meeting and getting to know new people. One of our B&B slogans has been "Arrive as Strangers, Depart as Friends"....I'm so glad you felt that was your experience. I am happy we met your "picky" cleanliness standards, especially important during this stressful time. I loved hosting your visit and hope we see you again when your travels bring you to Clearfield. I wish you a safe, healthy and happy rest of the summer! -----Peggy
