Inexpensive, clean, no frills. It is perfectly fine place to sleep. Nothing more, nothing less. Quiet with friendly staff. Yes, if anything such as toilet paper runs out, you will need to go ask for an additional roll. Part of the price accommodation!
The place was ok no frills I had to get toilet paper in the morning and staff seemed pissed that she had to get up took 15 minutes for her to get it she wasn't friendly at all not even housekeeping no good morning no hello do I need something nothing. The only person that was friendly was Pete and the older gentlemen..they are trying to clean it up but they need someone To revamp the rooms new towels more shampoo.soap, and friendly staff at front desk.
So we show up, having reserved Fri and Sat. Their reservation, they say, but won't show me is for Thurs Fri. I say "Oh there has been an error, can I just change it since the place is pretty empty?" "No." WHAT? You are empty! "Only if I charge you 85 a night instead of the rate that you were quoted." "But tonight I still have a reservation for so I'll pay that amount tonight and I am happy to pay the 85 for the other night." "No, 85 for both nights. We cancelled you for today." "Did you call me?" "No." I went to the car and told my husband. He goes in with me and he tries again, the same tactics of explaining and asking politely. Nothing. FInally I say, "That's okay, I'm going to go to yelp and all the other review sites. Seems to be that if you had customers sitting in an empty hotel you would work with them." Suddenly, they will work with us. Suddenly they will just charge us one night at the higher rate, since they charged our card for the night before. We get to the room, exasperated. It's like a Hitchcock film. No plug for the hairdryer, which they had none of (thank goodness I brought my own.) Bed was like a swayback mare, and I nearly resorted to sleeping in the bathtub on pillows to rest about 4:30 am. The shower had no water pressure at all. Two bath towels for two people. And they were TEENY and THIN. They turn off the air when they clean the room, so my makeup was runny. The topper was how they clean the mattresses. There was one leaning against the fence, it looked like they sprayed it with a hose and let it dry. Grosssssssssss. I didn't find it as filthy as others did, which is why I am giving 2 stars, but still. Seriously...I wouldn't stay here again. I'd stay in my car first. The problem is, Salem's hotels are nearly all 1-2 stars. The city needs to go into some of these places and enforce some standards for cleanliness and such. Salem is our capital city for heaven's sakes.…
Anybody besides me kind of tired of hearing from reviewers who obviously chose this place because it rents for $65.00 a night, then whined because it isn't the four seasons?? This is the cleanest place you've seen, including the brass and fern bar chains. Each room has a little picket fence in front, and the bases of each board are dusted! The tightest corners in the rooms, the table legs, behind the john, everything is spotless. No need to pull the bedspread off with salad tongs to stand it in the corner. Fridge, microwave, kitchen sink...spotless, crumbless. Granted, the owners and neighborhood are still acculturating, so things look different to some, but last I heard the USA welcomes this. you are getting a kitchen, table, chairs, micro, fridge, bath with tub and shower, queen bed, another larger desk area and chair in the state capital for $65 bucks! Hint: I read in bed a lot--we went to the local walmart and bought a $5 lamp and a soft washcloth. But if you think about it, you need a bat's echolocation in most hotel rooms now days with the 2 watt bulbs, and I usually end up using my own wash cloth. So, we liked this place!!…
Late one night they said one left. 5a. Turns out 5a was stuffed in between 105 & 106. No air, no fridge, no micro, no wifi, same price as all other rooms that had those emenitites. THEN the key wouldn't even fit in the key hole. When we went back they said that's the only key. So sorry. All that and so very rude.
I checked into the hotel, the price was only $55, a steal for tourist season. The desk clerk did not bother to tell me until AFTER she handed me the key that it is a smoking room. The shower was out of hot water, The guests in the adjoining room walked around shirtless with plumber's crack, then cussed at me in Spanish. The cable television did not work. You are best off using the Budget Inn across the street. which I checked into the following night.
HORRIBLE. On website is says free cancellation within 24 hours. We booked our room an hour before we got there and it was so disgusting we weren't staying and they wouldn't give us our money back. Wouldn't recommend to anyone. Dirty and in a horrible location!
Dirty and old. WiFi didn't work. Would not recommend this place to a cock roach. Looked like most guests where by the hour. Paint in room and furniture where old and WELL used. Neighborhood wasn't a place to walk after dark or have kids in or around.
room smelled like someone just smoked a carton of cigarettes in there, the air was thick and nasty feeling, the towels were dirty, did not feel like a safe place to be, not worth even 10 bucks a night... did I mention it's right next to a hoochie bar? AVOID!
