Good Points: I was really impressed with the quality of the room for the price on this location. I ended up having to book this room for a large group last minute due to my VRBO cancelling on me. Not only was the price much better, but this hotel has a nice indoor pool and hot tub. Both were SUPER clean! I am a bit of a clean freak so that was great. The hot tub is large and roomy so even with other people in it I didn't feel crowded. The hotel itself is nice and more modern and everything was clean. The room was spacious, clean, nicely decorated, and the beds very comfortable with good pillows and the air conditioner worked great. I was also able to get an early check in, which was great. The breakfast was good with the waffles that my kids loved and hot eggs and sausage which I enjoyed because I have to eat gluten free. This hotel is right next to an on/off ramp in Salem so very easy to access which I loved! But it was the front desk staff that really shine! The lady who booked me (I called the hotel direct and did not use an online booking site) was so sweet and friendly and I met her again when we checked in. She was really great and remembered me and asked about my kids who had just graduated. We were there for a trip as a present for graduating high school. I was super impressed with her! The other staff who were front desk were also really friendly and helpful. I am planning on staying here again in the future! The Not so Good: For some reason my room window didn't have full curtains so at night with the lights on anyone could see in, which for me was weird and uncomfortable. I think I watched too many Scream movies as a teenager! Second the tv remote in the room didn't work. It turned the tv on but wouldn't switch the channels. Not a big deal, I could have called front desk and gotten a working one in seconds I'm sure, but I was too tired and just streamed on my laptop as I don't really like tv anyways. FYI: I've worked both Front Desk and Housekeeping in the past and am always impressed with great service, especially in this economy! I know how hard both jobs are! Tip your housekeeper's people! They clean up the most horrific nasty stuff for you every day!…
One of the places we always stay at when we visit Salem. The rooms are clean and quite. Easy access to I-5 and the capitol. Located right off of Hawthorn. And close to the restaurants and stores on Lancaster Drive.
We have stayed here 3 nights every October for 6 years. We keep returning because the beds are very comfortable, the rooms clean and the staff extremely helpful, concerned and friendly. The hotel is well cared for and convenient to many local events.
We were visiting friends in Salem and this was close by. Very easy to find (just off the freeway) but we were surprised at the cluster of homeless tents around the exit. The hotel is right there across from a Park-N-Ride. Very friendly reception and the King room was nicely decorated with a comfortable bed and nice pillows. Everything worked - plenty of USB ports and outlets but missing a desk chair. As we had little time available (and probably because it was a handicapped room), it was fine. We didn't use any facilities as we were with friends. Breakfast was a tasty croissant with sausage and egg - microwaved, it was good. We were concerned about the homeless encampment, but things were fine.
First of all, we have stayed many times at Comfort Inn in a number of locations over the years and have always been pleased with the quality of service and comfort there. That said, probably the worst stay at ANY hotel we’ve experienced was with Comfort Inn and Suites in Salem Oregon on the weekend of April 17th. We were running late with checking in but had called ahead to tell them we would arrive early morning; we wanted to make sure they held the room. We were assured that the room was being held for us. When we arrived it turned out that the king room we reserved was NOT available and instead we were given a double queen room that was connected to another (noisy) room. After a long 8 hour drive we just wanted to get some rest at that point. The next morning we mentioned our experience to the lady on the desk, and she got very defensive and rude…..she said it wasn’t her fault, she wasn’t there last night, etc. We were really taken aback by her attitude; we had already stated that we knew this wasn’t personally her fault and that we certainly weren’t unhappy with her, we just wanted her to know so maybe she could relay the information to management. As a side note, this attendant barely had her facemask on….it was actually down around her chin. After the above exchange we made note of that fact and suggested to her that mask was ineffective the way she was wearing it and that she should be considerate and pull her mask up. She got really testy and loud, said we were attacking her, and that we needed to leave “right now”. We were really shocked at this, since we never raised our voices or threatened her in any way. I wish we had gotten her name, but it shouldn’t be hard to see who was on the desk the morning we were checking out (about 8:30 am Sunday, April 18th). There were two people in the office at that time – the one who was unbelievably rude had blond hair and the other person who witnessed the encounter had dark hair. That person shouldn’t be working with the public, representing Comfort Inn; it’s a good way to lose business and possibly cause legal problems for the company. We would appreciate some feedback from the Comfort Inn corporate office; we’re not looking for a refund, credit, or voucher; we just want to make sure something is done about the vile person we dealt with.…
The employees were friendly and the room was clean. We parked our SUV in front of the hotel right under a camera. We backed in to hide our bikes. We had secured the bikes on a bike rack with 2 cables and a U lock. In the morning the bikes were gone. We were then told their cameras were not working.
Checked in for a night while traveling back to CA. Got up to our room & I kid you not splattered blood all over the floor length curtains, ceiling & wall. We immediately went back to the front desk to let the front desk guy know there was blood everywhere. He said “oh ok, we’ll clean that up tomorrow”. Ummm no room change, discount anything. Here we are in the middle of a deadly virus where you need to feel safe that your room is not only clean, but sanitized. Ours was not only dirty, but bloody!! Unfortunately, I will NEVER stay at another Comfort Inn EVER & will make sure anyone I can tell this story to, I will.
The room was clean and comfortable room. Check in was easy.. Easy to find, near freeway. Near restaurants and shopping. The worse was the beds, they were so bad I could hardly move the following morning. Both queens beds in room 310 were terrible. Big dips. Hard to get out of.
Decided to try this place while we were in town overnight. The room was a bit smaller than I had anticipated but it was comfortable. Friendly staff, pretty standard breakfast, clean rooms and comfortable bed. The biggest complaint I have is lack of pressure in the shower. It was definitely worth the price.
The place was nice, clean room and comfortable bed. Service was good, the guy at night was very helpful with us b/c we have a big U-haul truck that night and help us with where to park the truck. Have hot breakfast and good coffee in the morning. Not far from Hwy 5, that is good place to stop for a night.
