Charming old hotel with new updates in a great central location. My mother and I spent two nights here and were very pleasantly surprised by our room. I think our room was partially updated, but not fully. The windows were brand new and stopped almost all noise. We could hear/feel a train/tram sometime once late in the evening and again...

So happy you enjoyed your room as it was not one of our newly renovated rooms. Just think what our new rooms must look like! I agree with you regarding the counter space in the bathroom. We all need more room for our toiletries. With that said, our new bathrooms have space for everything you need with a beautiful design...

We enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Mark Spencer. It is located in the center of the Pearl District which has great stores and restaurants and is within easy walking distance of downtown. The staff at the Spencer were very friendly. The continental breakfast was good - cereals, breads, coffee/tea and fruits like bananas. Parking was $20 in a...

Thank you for allowing us to be your host during your recent trip to Portland. Sometimes 2 days aren't quite enough time to fully see the city. I hope you found many places to shop, eat and explore that will bring you back to our beautiful city. It was our pleasure to have you as our guest. All the best,...

This traditional hotel is superbly located and has attractive, pleasant rooms. Mine was quiet, my bed comfortable. I appreciated the well-equipped kitchen, although a microwave would seem more suitable than a stove for on-the-go travelers (altho I can sense management rolling their eyes thinking, "If we give them microwaves, they want stoves." A couple of areas to note. So far...

I would like to personally apologize for any problems you experienced with our WiFi. We typically have excellent reception, but I will personally check on this to ensure our guests can get connected. Thank you for letting us know. I had to laugh at your comment regarding us "rolling our eyes" - at this point, the only thing rolling will...

My husband and I spent a week at the Mark Spencer in Portland. We were very pleased with our choice. It's in a perfect location for touring Portland by foot or by public transportation. It's an excellent value, providing a continental breakfast, afternoon beverages and cookies and an early evening wine tasting. Our room, which had a very handy kitchenette,...

It was a pleasure to have you stay with us! It's always fun to visit another city as I'm certain people love to visit yours, as well. I would love to have you as our guest again if you find yourself out on the West Coast. Thank you for choosing the Mark Spencer. Warm Regards, Pam

Having seen this hotel recommended in the Lonely Planet guide, I called from out of town and, with a little communication difficulty (!), succeeded in getting a room for two nights on our way through from the coast to Crater Lake. It was dead easy to locate, ideally located in the centre of everything, comfortable, spotless and well priced. Our...

We truly appreciate having you stay with us on your way through Portland. Our beautiful city has so many tasty restaurants and food carts that I hope you found a few favorites! Driving through Oregon is an experience in itself with so many breathtaking sights, from the coast to the mountains to the high desert. I hope Crater Lake was...

Me and my family (me, wife, 2 young kids) stayed here for one night. We mainly chose The Mark Spencer for its location and for the price. With my AAA discount, I was able to get the Executive Suite for about $130. Pretty good deal. The hotel itself is kinda funny. The public areas of it have that retro yet...

As I'm reading your review and the description of your guestroom, I realize that you were not in one of our newly renovated rooms. Then at the mention of tearing the walls down to the studs - that's exactly what we're doing during our renovation! Each and every one of our guestrooms is being carefully and beautifully remodeled. Not only...

Stay here overnight before catching a flight out of Portland. The hotel was recommended by another hotel in a nearby town. The room was quite spacious and clean and the toiletry products were quite good quality. The reception staff were exceptional and I even overheard them deal amazingly with some quite belligerent customers. If you need to park a car,...

This is an older building that prides that character as it updates and upgrades to total green status. It is already top notch in location - the Pearl district; staff - the friendliest and most helpful, (especially patient with older patrons); wi-fi - "free" and the speediest I have encountered in 4 other downtown hotels. amenities - continental breakfast, tea...

We chose the Mark Spencer because of it's location and the kitchenette. We were very happy with our choice. Our room was at the front on the 4th floor.
