Great property and the MClub was nice space. Upon checking out, however, I have never had a worse experience compared to the hundreds of Marriot properties around the world at which I have stayed. My room and taxes were paid directly by the college at which I was teaching, so I was asked to provide a personal credit card upon check-in to cover "incidentals," which is customary. When I checked out, however, the room, parking and taxes totaling over $800 were charged to my personal card. The hostile desk attendant, John, said I had to have the college fill out a bunch of forms with the accounting department and there was no record that my room was paid for (even though the receipt identifies the institution and he acknowledged that another card had been tendered to pay for the room). When I inquired as to why he could not straighten it out, he replied "I am not an accountant." This is pretty routine stuff in all my years of traveling. The Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront needs to get its act together, and John should be re-assigned to clean toilets, which better aligns with his demeaner and interpersonal skills.

Hotel was centrally located in downtown Portland and we could walk to all the places that we planned to visit during our stay. We had access to the M Club which was awesome for breakfast and appetizers in the late afternoon. The on-site restaurant was very good.

Nothing wrong with this property, but nothing outrageously great about it. The checkin staff was exceedingly pleasant. The room was average, bed was a bit uncomfortable and the valet was expensive ($50/nt- which I suppose is average). The M lounge was solid, which counteracts the small room. Like I said, nothing bad here, just nothing to write home about.

Loved staying at the Marriott! The room was comfortable and clean, and meals at the Proofreader were great (a special shoutout to Pete, who served us breakfast everyday that we were there). We had a pretty serious problem occur when we were there: we had an early flight, and the gate to the valet parking wouldn't open. We didn't have time for the engineer to arrive to fix this, so Marriott put us in a Lyft and then promised to return our rental car to the airport when the problem was fixed. And they did it. In resolving this issue, we spoke to both the valet manager and the operations manager, and both were extremely helpful in getting the problem resolved. They also waived the $49/day valet fee for our whole stay. Due to the excellent customer service, location, and room/food quality, I will definitely stay at the Marriott the next time I'm in Portland!

I was hoping for a better stay from a Marriott. The staff was friendly throughout our stay. The rooms were very disappointing. The linens had a very heavy perfume smell. It made it hard to sleep, even after we aired out the room for a few hours. It gave me an awful headache and made me wonder what they were masking with that perfume. The beds are very low. At first we thought we got an accessible room. But all the rooms had short beds. The rooms were big and fairly clean. The bathroom was small but clean. The ac is very very loud. Think about an airplane landing in your room while you’re trying to sleep. Between the perfume and ac noise we didn’t not get any sleep. We also got charged an extra $8 for something we don’t know what on a second bill after we checked out. The staff didn’t know too much about the area, we asked for restaurant recommendations and asked if the neighborhood was safe for an evening walk. They didn’t know much about either. The area is very quiet

Stayed here for a business conference and booked a 1 King room. The hotel was fairly Uber friendly when I was dropped off. Check in went fairly well, it took a bit to get the reservation squared away, but they were friendly. Make sure your Bonvoy points are being counted! The hotel feels a little old, but everything was in good condition. The room was spacious enough and a bit dark even with the window open. It didn't have a work desk area — just had a plush chair with a small portable table. It was ok to work from for a little bit, but wouldn't do it for hours at a time. It had a decent view even with construction happening right outside. The bed was super comfortable with clean linens and pillows. The fridge and safe were great to have in the room. The bathroom was good size and had a large counter for all my items — it made getting ready much easier. Shower was fine, towels were clean and had upgraded amenities. The overall room was quiet enough, but I did hear a bit of the construction and street noise below. The area is quite nice as it's a block from a walking path on the waterfront. I ran around the area and it felt quite safe even in the early morning. There were quite a bit of people out being active. Attending the conference there was decent. Rooms were large, not too cold and the staff was accommodating. Check out was ok, they didn't count my Bonvoy points at first, so be sure to get all receipts in case you need to go to Marriott to report the stay. Quick note: Be sure to visit the VooDoo Donuts walking distance from the hotel! There's a decent amount of restaurants and shopping walking distance and the area is quite Uber-friendly too.

I booked a room at the Portland Waterfront Marriott so that I could participate in an evening social event in one of its conference rooms and not have to drive home late that night. I felt that the room rate was high but was willing to splurge as I would enjoy a room overlooking the river. I was then shocked that I had to pay $49 to park my car in their lot. When I went to my room there was no complimentary bottle of water, instead I could purchase a bottle for $5. Finally, my view was of streets, and not of the river. What a major disappointment for my time there. The downtown of Portland is suffering economically, and this hotel is not doing anything to support an increase in tourists in the downtown zone by charging exorbitant rates.

This property has a nice location down by the river with some access to shopping and restaurants. The rooms have been remodeled but it is an older property. Now the bad/ I always request my preferences and the Hotel should pre reg bonvoy elites in the AM so they can block us into a preferred room type. Not here. When you arrive they give you what is left and they claim the upgrade isn’t guaranteed. Well If your staff was proactive maybe just maybe we could get that request fulfilled. The staff here are nice but don’t seem to care. I get the feeling this property is a franchisee and not a corporate location. Shane on you Marriott. Your status doesn’t mean a thing to these hotels. Simply sad. Do yourself a favor and book at the residence in. Pearl district - newer and some nice restaurants within walking distance and the rooms have sofas and much much nicer - I won’t be back to the waterfront marriott - oh and I booked a king and they have me a room with two queens and NO sofa -

Good morning 614rt, Thank you for providing your feedback with regard to your recent stay with us. I want to apologize for your experience. I am sorry your room preference was not met. We make every effort to pre block our Bonvoy members into rooms that meet their requested preferences. I realize that we are not able to do this 100% of the time however I would hope that you would have the majority of your preferences met and would not feel that we were giving you "what is left." I understand that this can be frustrating and I'm sorry this was your experience with us. Thank you again for your feedback, we appreciate the opportunity to learn what we can improve.
