The Palms is amazing. This is probably all that needs to be said. Coming from the UK, motels are a novelty but usually for the wrong reasons; you got to a motel to meet Norman Bates or hide from the Police. However, despite this irrational belief we booked to stay at the Palms for a week. It was the best...

My husband and I stayed at the Palms for 4 nights to visit the Portland area. It was a busy weekend and most places were full and did not have 4 consecutive nights available or were $350+ a night. The Palms was great, the manager was attentive, helpful and accommodating to our needs. Though it was basic it had many...

I stayed here one night. The owner was very polite and helpful at check in. He advised on places to see and things to do as well as made a copy of the train map and explained which trains to take to get to different places. The room was clean. I did notice some mildew/mold spots on the bathroom ceiling....

We were given a room on the ground level. It was pretty quiet, but we also got there late. The room was clean and management was nice. The beds were comfortable. WiFi was a little temperamental but it's free. My only real complaint was that I was overcharged by about $3.00 which wasn't worth fighting about after 15+ hours of driving...

I admit that I am normally a cheap traveller and I do not like to spend a lot of money on hotels. But the Palms motel offers a great value for your money. The position is great, the staff is kind and very, very nice. Finally, the room was pretty quite and clean, too. I highly recommend it!

Chose this central location for its convenient access to Portland's MAX tram service - the nearest stop is very close. Very clean; non-smoking room; comfortable large bed; good (and necessary) air conditioning; free wi-fi; good towels; good coffee maker; consistent hot water - thus meeting all my requirements as a base of operations for my visit to Portland, with the...

We stayed at the Palms for 4 nights. The room & Bathroom were clean, Great Bed, and nicely updated. The rooms are a little small, however when you put a King bed in an ordinary room? It is in an area in Transition and the surrounding neighborhood can be a little sketchy at night. We had no trouble though and...

Made a last minute trip to Portland on a Friday. Got a $70 rate- very much on the cheap side- so I wasn't expecting much. When I first entered I noticed the parking lot area needs some up-keep, the coin laundry room was a mess, and a few loiterers were hanging around. Right then I though I made a mistake....

Any hotel that was still available over the Columbus Day weekend, and that was close to downtown or the Northwest and Pearl districts, were really pricey. This motel seemed to be the best option, in terms of the location, price and the reviews that I read. When we first arrived, it looked kind of seedy and we wondered what sort...

Ok, you get what you pay for here. It was cheaply priced, clean enough, except for the carpet (no bare feet for me) within walking distance to restaurants and bars, AC worked well. Refrigerator . Management friendly. Stayed one night with a large group of friends. It was sufficient for our needs.
