Quick exit off I5 Hwy to Monticello. Easy check-in, front of room free parking. Handy tram to downrptown across the street. 2 blocks to Satellite Tavern for good food+beer & few blocks from great ‘wing’ restaurant & local grocery store. Was good for 1 night stay.

I picked this hotel because it was affordable and had free parking. I was honestly pleasantly amazed at how wonderful it was. Very clean with two queen beds, two mini-fridges with freezer space, a well appointed kitchen and full bathroom. There is a laundry on site, but we didn't use it. Traffic noise was standard. It doesn't look like much from the road, but it was a great hotel to stay in.

Stayed here for 4 nights after being evacuated by the fires. It’s an old fashioned motel and the family that runs it are kind, helpful and friendly. The rooms are big and while the furniture may be a bit dated, it was clean and comfortable. The vegetable garden outside the back window made for pleasant viewing while I remote worked. Thanks for a great stay.

Old school motel with a great neon sign. a little bit on the well worn side, but well looked after, decent sized rooms, and helpful staff. also, the rail/tram connection to the city centre runs outside - a little noisy when they start in the early morning, but really convenient.

The rooms were very clean as was the rest of the property including the parking lot. My room had everything one would expect: shampoo, rinse, lotion, extra roll of toilet paper, a full complement of towels and washcloths and a friendly host. Full kitchen and everything worked in the room.

It’s near the tram station, it has a kitchenette and dining area which we liked so much, spacious room, has a microwave and refrigerator, fast internet, coin laundry and parking is readily available. Maybe because the motel has no gates and has an open yard, we were approached by homeless people everyday asking for some change and dollars. Our room as at the end of the building so we were right at the junction and there are homeless people just waiting for someone they can ask for money. I honestly have nothing against homeless people but to be approached every time we came out of our room to our car or even during us parking our car and knowing that the dollar we gave them is to be used to buy booze was not a good experience.

I chose this property because of price and its location on the light rail line. The motel is north of downtown on the east side of the river. I arrived from the north on I5 and it was easy to find. It is a very small hotel - probably a dozen rooms at most. Check in was easy - the fellow who was at the desk was very friendly. The room was great - large, spotless and had a kitchen (which I didn't really need). The bed was comfortable and the linnens were good. Parking is right in front of the room. It is literally right on Interstate Street which is where the light rail line is located. That means it is easy to travel about Portland, especially downtown and not have to worry about driving in the traffic and finding parking, etc. This however, is also a downside. The rail runs to late at night and it is right outisde the motel. However, I found that it was not all that bad. Another "downside" is the lack of restaurants in the area. However, it was only about a 10 - 15 minute walk to the "Mississippi Street" area where there are loads of restaurants, bars and shops. Also there was a bagel shop and chinese restaurant just down the street. The price was good, for Portland standards. All in all I thought this was a very good place to stay.

We spent last weekend there with my partner. We needed a hotel where we'd be able to park our car safely, and if possible for free. Monticello is a nice motel quite well located in North Portland. 5 mn walk from MAX train and 10/15 mn walking from the amazing Mississippi avenue where we had dinner and drinks every night. The room was spacious and clean. Some work done in the bathroom, our shower was new. The motel was quite peaceful, just some occasional street noises and the train passing. The family who owns the motel is very nice, and let us park the car a bit longer even we checked out. The building itself looks pleasant, with pretty flowers everywhere. Excellent quality for the price. Recommended.

I was worried about staying here because my daughter who lives in Portland wasn't aware of this motel, which is in her neighborhood. we were all pleasantly surprised, it was very clean, full kitchen. the best part was the price. Would recommend.
