Great family hotel downtown. We stay around 120 nights in Marriott a year, and always love when a hotel puts in effort to make stay great. Rooms are creative in a minimalistic style. Good breakfast. Location is great ad downtown portland has been cleaned up. Cafe Umbria is close by with great coffee One of best choices in Marriott portfolio downtown
Cool modern hotel with a city vibe. Excellent weight/exercise room. Staff awesome. Parking fee daily. Game room for kids. Walking distance to food, museum. Liked the area, great value for price at the time. Did not do dining or bar so can’t comment
I absolutely loved this art deco hotel in the heart of downtown Portland in close proximity to major attractions and not far from the PDX airport. My favorite part of the hotel was my room. The hip stereo mural with red accents in the bathroom, closet, and bedroom kept me energized on those cold winter days. The king room was clean and the hardwood flooring made me feel comfortable walking barefoot. One drawback is there is no onsite business center although the front desk will print documents if they are emailed to them.
Great service from Merete & Meg! After a very long and very busy day I arrived at Beastro close to closing time @ 10pm. I was tottally prepared to order takeout or to jump back in the car to go find a meal but thank Effin goodness they took care of me. Food, a quick drink, and great conversation! I travel frequently as an Ambassodor Elite member of Marriott Bonvoy and I typically keep to myself but they both made me feel incredibly comfortable and incredibly welcomed. Hopefully they see this short message and hopefully they both know that I appreciate the service. I will be return... not only to the restaurant, but I I'll book nights at this hotel soon.
First of all, I have to say the front-desk staff are great - Andrew and Amanda (I called them the "A" Team) were wonderful to deal with. Andrew gave us a solid recommendation for a local ramen place and Amanda is so kind and thoughtful. Whomever is their boss needs to give these two a raise! Front desk staff can make or break the first impression guests have of a hotel. Other positive aspects of the hotel: The hotel is centrally located and in the cultural centre and close to good shopping areas. Parking is ample. There are some critiques: It would have been nice to have a place to put toiletries around the bathroom sink. There was no microwave in our room despite being "upgraded". Rooms are very sparse. Parking is atrociously expensive at 43 dollars a night.
I was quite skeptical to book this hotel after the mixed reviews, but I am so glad I took a chance! Hotel Vance met 95% of my expectations. Honestly, it was everything I needed to ensure a great stay. Pros: • 2 Free In Room Bottles of Water • Chrome Cast for personal video streaming onto TV • Very Spacious rooms • Tiny fridge • Clean, modern, minimalist, chic ambiance • Surrounded by a ton nature/trees (outside view) • 8-10 minute walking distance to downtown Pioneer Square where concerts/a few food carts are situated. CVS is in this area + my favorite food cart (Fried Eggs I'm in love, must try) • 8-10 minute walking distance to downtown Pioneer Square to take the Max Light Rail Transportation. Cost $2.50 per adult to Airport. Super affordable and takes 40 mins to airport. • Very friendly staff attentive staff • Starbucks onsite • Very comfortable beds • Shower pressure strong Cons • Limited cabinet storage bins • Limited toiletries • Bathroom sink drainer - clogged • Squeaky noises from next room (despite this I still got a restful night of sleep) Would I book here again? YES! I really enjoyed my stay and would consider Hotel Vance again for future Portland trips. Thanks Hotel Vance staff.…
The front desk staff are nice, attentive and well-informed. The decor has taken a turn toward the bland and the color palette is becoming increasingly monochromatic and less edgy. The gym is very well-equipped and nicely cared for while the rooms are minimal, almost to the point of being sparse and a little cold...although the graphics in are room were unique and punky. The thermostat in the room is really more of a prop, Our room was hot the entire stay and no adjustment changed it. Parking is over-priced, as is the bar but the service at the bar is witty, informed and funny.
The design of this hotel is not well suited for a vacation, perhaps ok for a business trip. Very utilitarian and not very comfortable. Tried very hard for 'cool and modern' making it almost not functional. Clean, with a good restaurant on-site, but for a vacation I'd look elsewhere next time.
SCAM ALERT! I purchased through Groupon, besides having them tell me the King I paid for was sold out and got bumped to a double queen here's the scam. I gave my card for incidentals like most places but after I left they also charged me for a night. Their "accounting department" is just a voicemail you'll never get a call back from, the front desk no matter how nice I am just hang up on me. I reported them and I'm coming back to town to see if I have any luck handling this in person. DOUBLE CHARGE SCAM DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!
Water pressure is really bad. Even at low floors. We have already requested for one with highest water pressure at lowest floor but the sink is just pathetic. There is no way you can brush your teeth or wash your hands properly with that kind of water. Too little water with no pressure. For the standing shower, there is no hand shower. Very inconvenient given the low water pressure, there's no purpose to have a rain shower with that kind of water... (Our room is corner king room) There's only one table without any vanity mirror. One full size mirror in closet. Wish to have more countertop space or extra sofa. Room is extremely dark as there's not enough lights in the bedroom. You kinda have to depend on the lights from outdoors. Can't imagine what's its gonna be during winters. No toiletry kits provided. Only shower, body wash and conditioner. They provide hair dryer and provide microwave upon request. They also provide mini fridge, cups and a mini coffee machine which we didnt use. Not much food near the hotel, you kinda have to walk 10 minutes away at least for more food options. …
