I am a Hilton Diamond member and wanted to like this property for Park and Fly. I was previously using the Radisson for Park and Fly, but thought I would try the Hilton. The Park and Fly process was very smooth, but no better than the Radisson. In my opinion this property is a disgrace to the Hilton brand. On my outbound trip, I was kept awake throughout the night by the AC compressor knocking. Upon my return after arriving at 1AM, I was kept awake by persons above stomping around until 230 then starting again at 630. The ceilings, walls and floors are paper thin. Apparently, soundproofing was not a consideration in building design. The rooms are dated and tired looking with worn furnishings. The bathrooms, though clean, were a dingy 1970's brown. And the lack of a functioning restaurant is a further deterrent to staying here. They have some limited breakfast service, but due to my flight schedules it was never open or available to me. On my outbound, when I checked in, the very helpful front desk person kindly provided some yoghurt so that I would have something before my 0430 departure. On my return stay at night the front desk person was also nice, and approved a later checkout time due to my late arrival. After a poor night sleep, I went down at 1020 in search of coffee and yogurt. I asked the front desk person if they had any yogurt. She curtly informed me "We have what we have. If you had come down by 1000, the restaurant would have been open." She pointed to some granola bars and cupcakes with price tags, and an espresso machine with a big sign saying "Coffee is Not Free." This was it for me with this property.

Dear "Susamf1111", Please accept my sincere apology for not living up to your valid expectations. It comes as a great disappointment to us that your stay/experience was unsatisfactory. Although nearly an impossible task to guarantee a noise-free environment, I hope you would have notified the front-desk at the time of your uncomforting experience to allow us to find a solution. Our goal is to make your stay better and brighter. If something isn't just the way you like it, simply let any Team Member know, and we will make it right. We are going to be undertaking a complete remodel of our guest rooms sometime next month (fingers crossed) We're sorry to hear you won't be staying with us in the future. As an Honors Diamond Member you are among our most valued guest. I hope that you will continue to choose Hilton for your travels. Maybe you will consider us again when we have upgraded. If there is anything I can do for you at this time please reach out to me directly. Sincerely, Deja J. Front Desk Supervisor Hilton Garden Inn PDX

Hotel's Favourite
We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn before and after a week in the Yucatán. The hotel was great, and we were particularly pleased to be able to leave our car for the week as part of the deal. It was not covered parking, but it was a welcome relief to come back to a good night’s sleep and our waiting vehicle. Staff and facilities were excellent, the restaurant made us a great burger, and regulating the room temp was easy. What more could we ask from a hotel?

This place is a horrible representative of the Hilton Garden Brand. The deck clerk was great and helpful even though she was the only employee in the hotel at check in time. It’s Portland folks, no one should have to work by themselves in this environment. The beds are advertised as king size-they are not! Full size at best. Room 333. Both beds broken down in the center and impossible to lie flat on. The mattresses try to swallow you and not let you go. In many years of worldwide travel these are by far the worst I have seen much less try to sleep on. Coffee maker makes noise but does not actually work. Same with the bathroom fan. Probably why there is visible mold on the shower walls. At least that matches the filthy carpet. Our feet actually got dirty walking on the carpet. Just sleazy to say the least. I’ve stayed here before, maybe 7-8 years ago and it was really nice. That’s why I stayed again . Boy, not anymore. You’ve seen the foreign owned hotels where they buy the hotel and then never fix anything until it falls apart and the company pulls their franchise? This place reeks of that. Sorry to say. I’ll never stay here again for sure. Very sad.

We stayed for two nights as we explored the city. They only have double beds, no queens, and they are old. Like sagging in the middle of the mattress, old. We came off a week of tent camping with our kids and my tent cot was more comfortable (for real!). The breakfast was sub par compared to other Hilton properties we’ve stayed at. No wan options. Toast, bagels, muffins, cereal and that’s about it. Yogurt and fruit were also offered along with coffee, juice, and milk. Things that were offered at the front desk for free at other properties like floss, toothbrush, razor, etc. were offered at this property for a fee.

Stayed here when we flewed from the East Coast and the night before our return flight. We had a nice stay. We called and they sent a shuttle. Rooms very ver nice and employees were very helpful. The only issue was that there was no continental breakfast the morning of our flight home even though we told that there would be one.

Great employees! Was Clean! But if you book on a site that is not their own, it is misleading. No pool, No jacuzzi and no continental breakfast. Did have a shuttle, but grumpy driver. We had to wait until he came over to the airport a second time.

From 8:30 to 12:30 am there was a loud gathering in the room below me which caused me to not get any sleep the management did nothing. Trying to say that they were unable to locate the room when everyone in the hotel could clearly hear which room and people going in and out of said room.

This is your standard Hilton Garden Inn, but in comparison with other HGI’s I have been in recently this one seems very bare bones. The hotel is comfortable, but I definitely recommend getting an odd numbered room which faces away from busy NE Airport Way. As others have noted, the bottom (fitted) sheet does not seem to fit the mattress. I only noticed this in the morning when I got out of bed. The mattress was revealed and had a flap that covered a dial which indicated you could change the firmness of the bed. I tried it but it did not seem to do anything. The room was lacking in some things, such as a notepad and pen, that other hotels are bringing back. The walls were also a bit bare with only one piece of art displayed. Bulbs were a harsh bright white light. It would have been nicer to have warmer colored bulbs. There was no “Do Not Disturb/Please Make Up the Room” card in the room. The room did have a towel animal, which was fun. The biggest disappointment was the breakfast ($12.50 for the American breakfast). The menu was oddly, and crookedly, printed on one side of a ledger-sized piece of paper. Choices were limited and you got your own coffee from around the corner. There is currently no evening bar or dinner service. The receptionist said they hoped to bring that back but are having difficulty hiring staff. The hotel has potential, but I will wait to return until they have replaced the amenities that I am used to in a Hilton Garden Inn.

Falsely advertised, poorly priced, and politics in a corporate hotel? First of all, this was one of the most expensive options near PDX but it advertised a pool, which made it seem worth the extra money. There isn’t a pool. Breakfast service closed early, there was no hot water, the windows so thin that I woke at least a dozen times as planes passed, the bed was saggy in the middle, the sheets were rough, and so on. I am floored by the price of this place given the major lack in value. On top of all the above, the place is clearly right-wing conservative. Upon entry there is a ridiculous sign that says Oregon’s governor Kate Brown is forcing people to wear masks. Then Fox News has been on the large screen tv all 5 times I’ve been to the lobby. A hotel is no place for blatant politicizing, especially when we go there as a place of refuge - I would have been equally beefed if the absurd signage were on the opposite end of the political spectrum. Overall, this was nearly a comical experience. And it wasted enough of my money and I lost enough sleep that I’ll complain to corporate too. The only upside is that it seemed reasonably clean. But so is Motel 6. You’ve been warned.

Response from LIZ Charbonneau, General Manager at Hilton Garden Inn Portland Airport
Responded 7 Jan 2022
I am sorry that you perceived our hotel as such. Our television in the lobby is controlled by the guests. We do not choose the channel, that is why the remote is accessible to our guests. As for the signage, it does not say that, nor is it "absurb". Our mask signage states, "per our Governor, Kate Brown, it is asked that masks be worn in all public areas of the building". So many states have different mandates, this just states ours and from what level of Government, so as not to be confused with just a blanket mandate. As far as our guest room pricing, we are in line or below all of our competitors (apples for apples). I do apologize for the other issues that you experienced during your stay and these will be addressed with the appropriate departments. Though you did not enjoy your stay with us, we appreciate you choosing Hilton and hope that you will continue to stay with the Hilton brand, as there are many Hilton brand hotels in our area to choose from.

While we were sleeping, our pickup was stolen from the hotel parking lot. Rooms and service were just fine, though. No breakfast served. Be prepared for extra $25 charge when you check in that will then be returned when you leave.
