terrible all night street noise, not okay. The all night street life is a mix of the homeless sheltered and not. A lot of noisy cars all night. Next day we moved to the "courtyard" side. The courtyard is an air shaft. The hyperbole is Grand but the reality is Stark.
I had a great stay.. Love everything about this place. There has been a lot of thought gone in to the fit out and the staff were very helpful. The restaurant has a great bar and provides delicious meals.
I enjoyed staying at the hotel and the location was close to the city center. The restaurant is not open at this time but they have nice snacks and beverages to choose from in the room. I loved the interior decor and they have bikes to ride. Having valet was a nice option to have a safe parking space. Walking to local eateries, a juice bar and yoga is nice to have close by as well.
Friendly staff, lovely atmosphere. Lack of a restaurant is a bummer. The neighborhood combination of construction, lack of parking, intense drug-using homeless make it a challenging recommendation. The street is LOUD and the windows don't do a great job of keeping it out. Loved my little room with the bed in the middle.
$40.00 for valet parking, can’t get my own car from garage, and the restaurant that used to be here I believe is closed so we were not able to use the space for remote work or to hang out early in the morning. Looks nice, but location is busy, confusing, and stressful.
Bad smell was it a cleaning product trying to cover some bad odors? The noisy rooms do not have good insulation. Also, the refrigerator is huffing and puffing all night. The $40 charge for parking is excessive.
Horrible and disgusting neighborhood! Drug addicts, homeless, transients and garbage everywhere! I had pre-paid for a Deluxe King and the room I was put in was a corner room on the second floor surrounded by non-stop construction during the day non-stop drunk and drugged transient plus drag racing noise all night! Even with ear plugs the noise was awful! The floor plan was the room was poor and cramped. The only good thing I have to say is that the hotel was very clean and most of the staff were friendly and helpful. Our entire wedding party stayed at the hotel because it was only a 5 minute walk from the wedding venue. However, because of the neighborhood I used Valet parking and when the Valet brought my vehicle back to me when I checked out and they had hit something with it and dented and removed paint from the driver side doors on my 2022 Dodge!! I will NEVER stay at this hotel again...nor would I recommend it to anyone! If I could have given zero star for location, neighborhood and quality of sleep I would have! I can't believe I paid $245 a night to be surrounded by squalor!!…
We stayed here on our last day in The USA. It was a real treat. I know it is in n area dominated by homelessness but we had no problems walking to a restaurant. No one asked us for money. Then you walk into Grand Stark and it is wonderful. The room felt quirky and special- think boutique hotel. Showers are fab, mini bar way too well stocked, linen great. Friendly and helpful front desk. We will definitely stay here again.
Overall a great value, great vibe and location, but the building was old enough the walls were thin and the floors were rather creaky. I would stay again, but earplugs were necessary to sleep through the night.
Great location, very walkable. Staff were friendly and helpful. We were able to check in early. When we checked out, we were able to store our luggage before our flight which was extremely convenient!
