Had a great 4 day stay. The staff was amazing, Breezy checked us in and was so helpful. Paris was bubbly and entertaining to interact with. Didn't think the coffee shop was all that "Good" though. Can't beat the convenience though i guess. Would have preferred a way to make my own coffee in the room.

We visited recently with our two young children and dog…..which is never easy! My husband had a work meeting at 1 and I had no idea what we would do on a cold day before our room was ready (not wanting to leave our luggage and dog in car too long unattended in Portland ;) Will and Haley at the front desk were so kind. Our room wasn’t ready (as I assumed because we were early) so they put us in a room that was while we waited. Then they went across the street to Target and brought us dog bowls for our pup as well as a travel crib for my babe’s nap. They don’t technically have room service but I ordered lunch from the restaurant downstairs and they very kindly brought it to me as I couldn’t leave my kiddos alone. They paid extra attention to my 4 year old who was there for Disney on Ice and made her feel so special! There’s no dog fees. Great location. Walkable. Coffee/alcohol/food on property. They were just so accommodating which was so appreciated. I think many underestimate how difficult and chaotic it can be in a city with kids away from home and it was very enjoyable. I’m forever grateful and will be back. The room was spacious and clean. Thank you all again!

There was no water in the room and no room service. The wifi kept dropping every 5 min. Room cleaning was poor. Coffee was terrible. I have been staying here for the last 2 years and this is the worst its ever been. I will never come back again and would advise people to stay somewhere else.

Really great! The rooms were a little small but the staff was amazing. We checked in late, around midnight, and we’re greeted with welcoming enthusiasm. Will definitely be back on our next trip to Portland.

My husband and I happened to stay here Sept 9-11 and unfortunately had a horrible check in and are still struggling to get our $ back. The day we checked in the hotel had just got through a "hotel transition" meaning it went from one ownership to another. Apparently in this transition guests info weren't provided to new management, rooms were not cleaned, and no one at the front desk knew what rooms were available or not for anyone to check in. All around, a horrible experience. We tried to check in and was told our room wasn't ready and that it should be after dinner. They offered to keep our luggage but after observing another guest express her frustration because the hotel lost her luggage we declined. We headed out to a nice dinner and checked in with the hotel to make sure our room was clean & ready before we returned. They texted back a confirmation, we were 'good' to go. At 10pm we came back to the hotel and guess what. Our room apparently wasn't available. We discovered this when the key card wouldn't work in the elevator. Apparently the room they gave us was already occupied. Fast forward and the front desk staff doesn't have a room for us but won't tell us-- we can tell by the looks on their faces and the frantic typing -- we can see their computer monitor, there is no rooms available. Andrew, the manager, takes off running and we can't tell what's going on. He apparently went to see if a room was clean for us and if not, he cleaned it. To make up for an 11pm+ check in Andrew and the front desk staff take off $48/night for our stay, all drinks and food are comped, and then after the second room fiasco they comp the first night. All in all, we are only getting charged for one night. We are happy because they seem to be taking care of us. Fast forward. It's Sept 29th and I've called the hotel no less than 4 times since Sept 11 due to overcharges. They charged us the second night and for brunch at the hotel. $251.73 should be refunded but apparently all they keep doing is charging us more money. If they had actually put their money where their mouth is and followed thru I would have given this review a totally different rating and maybe actually recommended them. After this fiasco, that's a big NO.

Response from Tessa Peterson, General Manager at Woodlark

Hello There, Thank you for your review. I am incredibly sorry about your experience at Woodlark. Our management transition was rough to say the very least, and I am deeply sorry that it negatively impacted your time in Portland. There are no excuses, only apologies for the many ways we dropped the ball during your arrival and in the weeks following your stay. I do see that a credit was given on your folio. If for some reason that is still not showing on your account, please email me directly at tessa.peterson@woodlarkhotel.com and I will work with you to find a resolution. We are now a few weeks into managing this property and I am happy to say that our challenges with our systems have been resolved. Additionally our new team has worked diligently to get the hotel to back to its full potential. We achieved this by retraining our service and housekeeping teams. In the coming months we will continue to make positive improvements by upgrading our linens and towels, reimplementing stay over service for our guests, offering room service from our wonderful restaurants, and adding mini-bars back to the guest rooms. I sincerely hope you will give us another shot the next time you are in town. If you do find yourself in Portland, you have my email. Don't hesitate to reach out directly. I will happily see to the details of your visit. Best, Tessa Peterson

I am so bummed to write this review but was shocked to see so many positives after what I’ve experienced this weekend. We stayed here as a staycation and it was honestly a massive disappointment. Our room on arrival was dirty. Ring marks and stains on nearly all surfaces, glassware not cleaned. Walls all over halls and in rooms dinged and dirty. Thankfully - most important areas of sheets and bathrooms seemed clean but still made for a less than desirable experience. Rooms were also bare bones - literally nothing there. Felt like a jail cell with fancy wallpaper. Our phone didn’t work. The clocks didn't work. No room service. Obviously we aren't the only ones as each time we were in the lobby- guests were complaining to staff and staff even seemed visibilly unhappy; saying loudly that the hotel was unacceptable etc. Some highlights: Good Coffee is great, staff there were friendly even though they too were understaffed. The trendy, IG-worthy decor is NOT worth staying. You can find other options downtown that have better amenities, service and design for the price.

I love this place! I came back regularly for a cappuccino and a granola and I love their coffee, plus it's a big enough place that I can always find a seat and I love the atmosphere there. The next time I'm in Portland I'm definitely gonna come back.

As another solid four-star offering from the Portland Provenance mafia, the Woodlark sits in the middle of the central business district, with convenient walking access to light rail stops and all forms of quality transit that you’d expect from Portland. The décor here is worthy and respectful of the buildings’ historical heritage, while exuding a hip and contemporary atmosphere. Decidedly vintage urban America, the lobby and restaurant appeal with their attractiveness and comfort. The unfussy but wonderfully appointed rooms have very high ceilings which feel like a treat. The hotel even offers a houseplant menu, and indeed it delivers on the basics: cleanliness throughout, good room temperature controls, noise levels under control, reasonably comfortable bed, good toilet pressure and water temperature controls in the bathroom, sufficient supply of towels, nice lighting options in the room, enough electrical outlets to charge your piles of modern junk, workable wi-fi, competent housekeeping, and friendly and helpful staff. There’s almost nothing to dislike here.

Stayed here when it first opened in 2019, and came back. My favorite hotel in Portland — interiors are gorgeous, beds are comfy, and the food is fantastic. Mack at the front desk is especially helpful.

The hotel was a great downtown location! It was easy to walk to places to eat and sights. It is also close to transportation so it was great. The rooms are spacious, staff were amazing and I enjoyed my stay.
