I had a wonderful so trip at the Hotel Vintage Portland and the people made all the difference. I’ve stayed at many Kimptons and this one has an outstanding Portland friendly vibe. The cute Bacchus Bar is right in the center of the cozy lobby and the bartenders really help to create a little community and welcome you in if you want it. Huge shoutout to Brad and Jono - thank you!
The front desk and valet staff were also extremely friendly and accommodating. I love their text-based service too. Thank you also to Tobby, Eric, Phillip, Brooklynn, Sergi and David.
Overall this is a small but nicely kept Kimpton in a good location, especially if you are doing downtown and Pearl district shopping. There seemed to be fairly ample parking on the street during my visit, but it was on the weekend during the holiday week. If you want to risk it to avoid the hotel parking fee, I think it’s doable if you are planning to be out and about during most of the day. You can pay with the parking kitty app and the hours were around 8-7 Mon-Sat and Sundays 1-7. There are also several garages that have all day fees around $30 or less.
Take into account that the downtown area has some spots that are less occupied and still haven’t recovered fully from the pandemic. I felt safe as a solo female but was aware of which streets I walked down. This isn’t something unique to this hotel - it really is all of downtown.
A few other things to know about this hotel:
1) They have a few slanted roof “loft” rooms that are awesome if you enjoy hearing the rain as much as I do. They have a couple hot tub rooms too that apparently book up quickly but I can imagine would be awesome! 2) The restaurant and food options were all very delicious but the menus and hours are somewhat limited. There are a ton of nearby options and delivery too. 3) The wifi is fully open and not secured. It worked well all nights but Friday night. I was able to get data from my cell but I let the desk know the following morning and it was fine after that. 4) There is no streaming or advanced features on the tv. Just basic cable. That wasn’t an issue for me but some might care.

What an absolutely wonderful experience! From check-in to check-out our stay was first-class. Many reviews mention the Lobby Bar and bartender. We agree! The personal touches were what also meant a lot to us - like the note on pad in our room from "housekeeping" wishing us a happy stay; plus a lovely message from the Front Desk Team letting us know how welcome we were and to let them know if any problems (there were none). The location was tops for us as it was close to both our favorite restaurant for dinner and favorite breakfast place - took us 4-5 minutes tops to walk safely to both. Although I didn't shop this trip, when we walked out the front door - the Nordstrom store was only a couple of corners away. The room itself was delightful - old world charm with all the modern amenities. Comfortable bed and luxurious linens and pillows - always important - and it was very quiet. We only stayed one night but next time we will allow for more nights here. It's delightful!

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
I've been staying in IHG Hotels for several years (mostly in Europe) and this was my first Experience in the USA. The staff were very attentive and helpful (specially by the checking in/checking out with Eric/Ryan), since there was a lot of added events/benefits available (e.g. daily coffee and tea selection in the morning and wine/beer selection in the afternoon at the main hall, games room on the 2nd floor). There is also a nice bar, restaurant and brewery, but I didn't get ti use them.
The room was very big and everything was available, including a yoga mattress, drip coffee machine, ironing board and hair dryer. I'm not used to shower curtains, but it was a nice 2-layered one and I didn't struggle nor made a mess in the toilet. Nice selection of aromatic soaps, shower gel, hair shampoo and conditioner were also there. Also not sure how it works in the USA, but I've struggled a bit with the bed cover not using a duvet and simply being sandwiched between 2 regular bed linen.
Overall it was a very good experience and I definitely recommend it.

It’s awesome that you took advantage of our perks, from morning coffee & tea to afternoon wine & beer—what a perfect way to unwind! 🍷🍺 We’re glad you enjoyed the spacious room and all the thoughtful touches like the yoga mat (great for stretching after a long trip) and the aromatic shower products. And we totally understand about the bed cover—sometimes the duvet system is a little different, but we hope it was still comfortable! Thank you so much for recommending us—we can’t wait to welcome you back on your next adventure! 🌍💫 We truly appreciate your kind words and hope we can make your next visit even better!

I recently stayed at Kimpton Hotel Vintage Portland, expecting the high standards of a Kimpton property. Instead, I got a rundown, neglected hotel that IHG refuses to take responsibility for.
Here’s what I encountered:
-Rusted shower fixtures and poor bathroom upkeep, with a door that hits the toilet when you open it. -A heating/cooling system so outdated and loud that it was impossible to sleep. -Housekeeping that ignored requests multiple days in a row. By the way, housekeeping is "by request only" at this hotel, though they never tell you about this policy. -A room that was poorly maintained, outdated, and nowhere near Kimpton standards.
IHG refunded my stay, but that doesn’t fix a ruined trip. I asked for reasonable compensation (a free night or IHG points), but IHG refused and told me to deal with the same hotel that already ignored my concerns.
IHG’s corporate office is actively refusing to hold its own hotels accountable. If this is what Kimpton has become under IHG, then it’s no longer worth booking with them. Avoid this hotel, and frankly, avoid Kimpton & IHG if you want a brand that stands behind its properties.

The hotel is in downtown Portland and all the major tourist spots are within walking distance or a bus/streetcar ride away. Pioneer Square is a couple of blocks from the hotel and you can take the Red Line streetcar directly to/from PDX airport. Pearl District and the Saturday market are all walkable and you can ride the bus/streetcar to some great restaurants on the other side of the river along Burnside. The hotel itself is a restored historical brick building. The staff are friendly. Morning coffee and Oregon wines during happy hour are provided. Room furnishings were dark and the room itself was a bit gloomy (just like Portland) but spacious. Bathroom was small and felt like a standard bathroom in a typical chain hotel. The gym was in the dark basement and it was not enticing to work out unless you are desperate. It felt like a basic hotel, nothing that wows you but it’s satisfactory for a quick stay and/or if you are out most of the day during your stay.

This is an incredible hotel in the downtown of Portland. Top-notch staff matched by top-notch recognition of an elite status with IHG if you have one.
First of all, huge thank you and shout out to Eric at the front desk for a warm welcome and being so professional. Eric took great care of me, handling a lot of things on the go as my reservation was made last minute and the system didn’t have time to catch up. I was given a fantastic 4-tier room upgrade for being a Diamond member with IHG, resulting in a luxurious suite. Lots of other nice gestures such as a welcome amenity of fruit and wine.
The hotel’s theme is Oregon wineries, and each room is decorated accordingly - very thoughtful design throughout.
A la carte breakfast at their restaurant, Il Solito, was another highlight of my stay, with great food and impeccable staff.
Their valet parking fee is $55 and may seem steep, but there’s a plenty of garages averaging $25-$30 for overnight parking.

Set in a building on The National Register of Historic Places, the interior has been sensitively modernized to provide a stylish, welcoming vibe while honoring the original structure of the building. It's a very easy 3 minute walk from the MAX stop at Pioneer square, which is how we travelled into Portland from PDX.
Past the interior doors, which are card-key accessed at certain times of day as is common throughout Portland, the reception area is immediately cozy but nicely done. There is always a choice of water/ice tea, coffee in the mornings, and a wine reception happy hour in the afternoon. There is also a bicycle available to be borrowed.
Staff were personable and professional, always authentically happy to help.
Our room, a city view corner King, had magnificent windows looking out on Broadway and SW Washington, and soaring ceilings. The room was tastefully furnished and generally felt up to date, but for the scarcity of electrical outlets. One side of the bed has available outlets for device charging, the other side had none. There was a work desk, but it again had no accessible outlets - you had to make use of one open outlet behind the trash cans under the desk. The included coffee maker was on a tray, and needed to be relocated to the bedside table to make coffee, using the only available outlets there.
The bathroom was spotlessly clean, very bright due to the tall (privacy glass obscured) window, and plenty spacious. Water pressure and temperature were both good, as were the provided toiletries in the tub/shower.
There's plenty of storage and hanging space, and even a provided yoga mat! Blackout curtains did a good job darkening the room, and we did not find ourselves disturbed by street noise at all.
Guests are provided a complimentary tasting flight at the Hood River Distillery outpost located in the hotel, and I strongly recommend you take advantage of it!
We did not have a chance to visit the hotel bar, but we did have an excellent breakfast at Il Solito.

I was part of a film crew that stayed for a week in December and the entire stay was amazing. Lauren, Eric, Ryan, RJ, and Jono were just the best. Eric and Ryan were constantly making sure I had everything I needed and they were just so fast with my valet. Lauren spent almost an hour with me, while juggling other customers, just to help me get payment stuff figured out when my travel reimbursement got complicated. As for RJ and Jono, I’ve never experienced such amazing service at a bar/restaurant. They were kind and professional, but also knew the perfect time to let the professionalism slide away into friendly conversation. RJ and Jono, you’re still coming to the real wedding!! Please give my compliments to the kitchen staff as well, the food was absolutely to die for, they have this burger I’ve been dreaming about since I left. I stayed in the King suite with a soaking tub, the room was SO NICE. Two TVs and a super comfy couch made it feel like home away from home. The bed was very comfortable and the cleaning crew was always very attentive. The shower itself was a little small but the tub made up for it, there’s definitely room for two. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay in Portland, any time I visit Portland in the future I’ll be staying at The Kimpton Vintage!!

My spouse and I have been to this hotel 3 times starting with our wedding 3 years ago. We have always had a wonderful experience. The rooms are beautiful and very clean, it is absolutely worth it to get a spa room as the soaker tubs are big enough for 2 and always extremely clean.
The staff are also so friendly, when we checked in I had forgotten our breakfast package and Eric ran it up to the room for us, he also checked that we got some champagne for our anniversary. Such a nice gesture to have personalized touches at check-in.
The breakfast is also fantastic here, it is not a buffet style continental but a sit down restaurant meal voucher, so everything was fresh. Breakfast ran late (until 11 am as of 12/2024) and checkout as well (12 pm), so we were able to relax and enjoy breakfast while sleeping in. Other perks such as the free whisky tasting, wine tour coupons, and $10 restaurant vouchers per night really made this hotel special.
We truly love this hotel and will be back again soon.
Thank you again!

I'm an avid Kimpton lover, I've stayed in multiple cities and on a road trip up to Seattle with my partner on our 2 year anniversary I was super excited to stay again. This Kimpton however, was a let down.
The pros- Great front desk staff, very friendly and we greatly appreciated the bubbles and chocolate they sent up to our room for our anniversary. The room we stayed in (spa suite) was large with high ceilings and the tub was big enough for both of us to get into and have a romantic night. Breakfast was good and got delivered on time but was oddly delivered in a takeout bag with no plates and everything was packaged to go. We really wished we had proper service but the food quality was good no complaints there.
The cons- The room felt neglected in both repairs and housekeeping. There looked like mold on the shower toiletries in the shower, the shower leaked, there was obvious water damage in the corner (partner works in abatement so he notices these things immediately) the shower grout was also missing in the bathroom tiles in certain spots. Not the best moment in housekeeping when we go to lay down and our pillows had either old blood or coffee on them from the previous guest which really put me off. I called the front desk and they offered to move us, which I declined since we already unpacked and hadn't seen the shower issue yet. I asked for 2 new pillows which took them 30-40 minutes to bring and they were queen size vs the king size originally provided in our room. The bed felt old, creaky and in desperate need of replacement. The robes in the closet had frayed sleeves and dirty drawstrings making me not want to put them on after our "spa experience".
Would I stay there again? No. There were just missteps in upkeep and housekeeping. For $270 a night after fees and $29 credit for amenities this was just let down.

I wish I could tell you, but if your experience is anything like ours, they will cancel your jacuzzi room and not tell you until you arrive, even if it is a big important event/night, regardless of how many times you confirm your reservation. Be careful.
The parking is valet. I believe it was $50/day with unlimited in and out privileges. They would also let us leave the car out front if we just had to run in to the hotel briefly. If convenience is important, this works very well. Not a long wait for the car. There is also a parking lot across the street which is cheaper but no in and out. So depends what you are looking for in parking.
There are more places to choose from in the Portland area.
