The Staypineapple, Hotel Rose, is celebrated for its prime downtown location and inviting atmosphere, complete with a unique pineapple theme and pet-friendly policies. While guests have called out its cleanliness and the exceptional service provided by the staff, the comfort of the clean and thematic rooms is occasionally marred by noise from traffic and the hallways.
Additionally, some visitors express concerns over safety, parking fees, and additional amenity charges. Despite these issues, the hotel's proximity to attractions and transport remains a highlight for many travelers.

Detailed Reviews
What a great surprise! This hotel was great, we booked it late night as we weren't sure if we were staying in town or not, was able to check in late around 11pm and the front desk was available and friendly. The hotel gives you complimentary drinks that you can either get from the fridge or the bar which I thought was pretty unique, never seen that before.
The room was very inviting and clean. Everything was wiped down and stocked, I like the ideas of those refillable shampoo, conditioner and body wash, don't have to worry about waste. The bed was comfortable and they had the individual duvet that are awesome to have.
The hotel is in a pretty good location, right across the river downtown, so if you have the north or east facing rooms you would see that, if you have the interior rooms you're probably looking at the parking lot/ a tiny bit of the city buildings.
You did have to pay for parking though, I believe it was $25 a night, not very secured just located on site. and there is also a Resort fee daily too $30 I think it was.

What a delight to hear our hotel was such a pleasant surprise for your spontaneous stay! Thrilled you enjoyed the late-night welcome, complimentary sips, and our eco-conscious touch in the rooms. Snoozing in comfort under those individual duvets is just how we like to tuck you in. We're all about that prime spot across the river, giving you those scenic city views or a peek at the urban hustle. Thanks for noting the parking and resort fee - it helps us keep all the good stuff going. Can't wait to surprise and delight you again on your next city adventure. Cheers to more great stays!

Stay pineapple Rose is a good choice for staying in the downtown Portland area. Very easy walk to many places including the Keller Auditorium and the Saturday Market. If you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs, the downtown street traffic is noisy. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Cookies are delightful. We missed the pineapple water that we have had at other Stay pineapple hotels.

Thanks for sticking with Staypineapple, we're juiced up to hear you had an easy-peasy lemon-squeezy time exploring Portland from our doorstep! Next time, don't forget those earplugs OR we can try to find you a quieter slice of paradise to rest in. Cheers for the sweet words about our staff and cookies! We'll make a note to amp up the pineapple water for your next visit. Hope to see you again for another fruitful adventure!

This was one of the best hotels my wife and I have stayed in!! The bed were so comfy and fluffy! The staff was extremely helpful especially Cat!! She answered any questions we had with a big smile and not once made us feel hurried. Our original room was towards the corner by the train which was a little loud. We decided to see if there might be a different room but if not it would not be a deal breaker. Well Cat took care of us and got us a room further away which was perfect!!
Complimentary water bottles were provided and they also gave us two complimentary adult beverages! The food in the restaurant was very tasty but the only thing we noticed was the server/bartender was not very attentive. We kept seeing them sitting behind the bar either on their phone or reading a book. At one point they would go to the back then come out with a mouth full of food. Other than that she was very friendly and helpful with the menu.

We stayed at this hotel on January 19th for three nights. We have stayed at several Pineapple locations but this was by far the worst experience that we have had, and because of our experience, I'm sorry to say we will not being staying at another Pineapple location.
We arrived at the hotel at 5:30pm and after traveling all day to get to Portland our room was not ready. The man at the front desk seemed pretty indifferent to the fact that we traveled all day and we just wanted to get into our room. He said we could go somewhere and come back in an hour (it was very cold outside and we took an Uber from the airport), we could go to the bar and have a drink or we can just wait in the lobby. It would have been nice for him to say..."here is a couple of drink coupons on us, we will call you when your room is ready." That did not happen. About an hour later I did receive a text that our room was finally ready.
Prior to our arrival, I received an email asking if we had any special requests. I asked for a higher level room looking over the city (which is the room I paid for). When we got to our room we looked at a grey wall, not over the city. Why bother asking if you don't read the requests of the guests? Or give them the room they paid for?
Once we got to the room, the room itself was very cold. There is no way to adjust the heat from your room. They have control of the heater.
We did eat in the restaurant and the food was pretty good, albeit $6 for 1 deviled egg (2 halves) is a bit stiff. The female server obviously did not want to be there. She was very unfriendly. I am starting to detect a pattern here.
We encountered two different crew members at the coffee cart in the mornings, both were fabulous.
Once we got home, we tried to call the hotel seven, yes seven different occasions. We were told the manager was not available, in a meeting, away from their desk and multiple other excuses. We left several messages. Not once did we get a call back. This lackadaisical attitude is what really upset us. Don't they care about what their guests have to say? Are they afraid of the phone? I was just so disappointed by their uninterested attitude.
Loved the San Francisco and the Seattle locations but, avoid this Portland location at all costs. Do not recommend.

Fortunately we only stayed one night at the Rose. It might be an okay place to stay if the weather is nice, but in our instance it was late October. Temperatures were in the 40s and our room was beyond chilly. We turned on the heat but all we got was cold air, and when we reported it to the front desk we were told that heat wouldn't be available to guest until November. What sort of hotel won't allow their guests to have heat when their cold? All we were offered were extra blankets which don't do much for you when you get out of a shower and your room is an ice box. Also note that they charge $25 for parking which was unexpected in our case. We also paid extra to have a room with a view of the river, but since that side of the building is up against a main road there was quite a bit of noise until traffic died down late at night. I never leave poor reviews, but this time it was warranted.

Hi Barbara Pritchard, Please forgive us for the uncommonly bad experience that you had with us during your stay. Our goal is to always offer comfortable accommodations for all our guests. Our building currently operates in a HVAC system that allows us to migrate temperatures based on season. While we currently have our chillers off, we are in the process of switching to our boilers for the winter. Please forgive us if our staff did not also offer a space heater that we normally provide guests upon request. I am happy that our team was able to offer a discount towards your reservation as an extension of our sincere apologies. Again, I am sorry for your experience and I hope that this does not deter you from giving us another try in the future. Warmest Regards, Kennedy O

Stayed in the Metro suite. Great bedding, extremely clean, soft towels and robes, and very spacious. The location on the 2nd floor made the suite susceptible to mechanical sounds throughout the month. When turning on sink faucet we heard the pipes also turn on. There is no place to hang your bathrobe in the bathroom- could use some hooks. I would expect the suite to have its own microwave. Overall a good stay and price is average.

Ms. Strub, Happy New Year to you! Thank you for choosing to stay at Hotel Rose and for sharing your feedback. Our goal is to always offer clean, comfortable accommodations and I am delighted to hear that your room was extremely clean with in-room amenities like the soft towels and robes to mention a few. While we normally have no concerns, I am sorry for any issues with pipes noise. We will investigate the no hook in the bathroom mentioned and will replace it if missing. We also have several microwaves that are available upon request-I am sorry if the lack of these items in your room caused any inconveniences. I hope that we will have the opportunity to host you (and your pup) again so that we we may earn your perfect rating. Warm Regards, Kennedy O

They charged a $25/day "amenity fee" over the room rate listed in Concur (business travel platform). They said nothing about it until check-in, and because you choose to stay at the hotel booked rather than run around Portland at 9pm on a Friday looking for another hotel, will not reverse the charge. This is a lousy business practice. It's charged to every guest; just add it to the room rate if that's what it costs to stay there.

Betty, We appreciate you choosing Hotel Rose for your recent accommodation and disappointed that we did not get the opportunity to address your concern while you were still with us. Upon review of your reservation, it appears that you made your booking to stay with us through a third party. Your reservation was pre-paid and was only charged room and tax upon booking and the amenity fee, which is part of your total reservation stay, is collected at the property upon check-in. While the confirmation email sent after making a reservation normally details billing charges/costs, I am sorry if you missed yours. In the future, please know that booking direct is always better as the amenity cost is included with the total room rate plus tax charges, making it easier to read. I hope that you still enjoyed your accommodations with us and we hope that you and yours will give us another try upon your next visit to the Downtown Portland area. Happy Travels, Kennedy O

I’ve stayed here 3 times in the last 2 months, just one night each stay. I plan on staying here whenever I’m in downtown PDX from now on. Staff is always friendly and accommodating, rooms, lobby, parking, and restaurant are clean and modern with attention to details and small perks or surprises. Location is easy to navigate to off I-5 and the beds/linens are exceptionally comfortable. There may be “cheaper” options in the area, but there is no better value I have found.

The good: The bed was comfortable, and the pillows were nice. The place was clean. It was nice that they had free water bottles in the lobby.
The bad: check in folks were not great and had an attitude when I questioned all the unexpected add-on fee's we got hit with ($300 per room!) We booked via Priceline and had a complete transparent fee including surcharges- great, loved that part. Got there and had convivence fee's, amenity fee's, incidentals fee. The amenity fee's were for free drinks in the closed bar that we were not going to use. But were forced to pay for. Decor was very Avant guard and kitchy. Everything was pineapples. The king size city view room was very small. Basically the bed with paths around to get to the bathroom/entrance. And a desk opposite the bed with the coffee maker on it. It did have a closet in it also.
The bathroom had no hair dryer and all the soaps were nailed down. Same in the shower. everyone got 1 of each towel. And the shower was a joke. on an 1/2 wall of glass in it and that had a cut out for someone to turn the water on, so water got all over the floor. Major safety hazard.
The elevators all smelled like weed. AS did the outside where there is a large homeless population staying. More so then other hotels. The pictures make it look great, but they are VERY deceiving. We checked out after 1 night and went to the Hilton.
Needless I would not recommend it or will be going back. If your a young hipster, this may be the place for you, anyone over 30, go elsewhere.

I am very sorry you felt a staff member was had an attitude when you questioned all the unexpected add-on fees. Please call when you have a moment and I will personally take steps to make things right for you. Thank you, Kennedy O

The hotel room was nice and comfortable. The hotel was well decorated, clean and cozy. The staff was friendly, but slightly unhelpful and defensive when it came to explaining the extra fees we were charged.
In addition to the price of the room per night:
Parking at the hotel is 25$ per night.
There is an unavoidable 24$ “amenity fee”. The amenity fee is described nicely on their website as a sort of kindness on their part which I can paraphrase this way, “we charge you an additional 24$ per day as if you had used every additional amenity, to spare you the inconvenience of deciding whether to use and pay for individual amenities.”
My opinion is that, if there is an unavoidable fee, the fee should be added to the price per night, not separate. If I see a hotel listed as x $, I like to pay x dollars, and not x + z$.
The hotel is awesome, the extra fees tactic is old and disagreeable.

I sincerely apologize for any confusion or inconvenience the additional amenity fee may have caused during your stay. We strive to ensure all our guests feel informed and comfortable with the value they receive when choosing to stay with us. Allow me to explain, the amenity fee is a common practice among downtown hotels and is meant to enhance your stay by providing an array of services and amenities that might otherwise incur individual charges. This mandatory fee is an industry-standard in urban locations where additional costs are prevalent. At our hotel, the amenity fee is meant to add worth by bundling various benefits and conveniences to create a more seamless and enjoyable experience. We understand the importance of transparent pricing and the desire to know the full cost upfront. I appreciate your feedback on this matter as it helps us evaluate our pricing structure and communication with our guests. Please know that our staff is here to ensure your comfort and satisfaction, and I regret to hear that the explanation provided was not as helpful as it could have been. We take your opinion seriously and will look into how we can improve our service and clarify any additional fees in the future. Once again, I apologize for any disappointment this aspect of your stay caused, but I am thrilled to hear that you found the hotel to be awesome overall. We value your input and hope that we have the opportunity to welcome you back again with clearer communication and even greater satisfaction.

Funny little fact, actually. My profile picture is of me sitting on the very couch you speak of! That is me in my suite, sitting on the lovely pullout sofa couch. :)
They allow it if they have rooms ready. If not they will atore youe luggage and call you once it is ready.
Yes there are a few connecting rooms available.
Parking was $20/night, but only $10 if you add the parking discount option when booking. :)
Yes,there is a concierge.
I would not be able to answer the next question.
Yes, there is parking at the hotel and there is no extra charge.
Yes, you do need to use room key to use the elevator. I saw that as for safety reasons.
