Hotel Zags (formerly Modera) has been my go to Hotel in Portland for over a decade and one of my favorite hotels to stay at with a wonderful home-away-from-home feel. The entire staff (every I have engaged) has been exceptionally friendly, informative, and very present to any CS needs (Michael is wonderful and goes back to the Modera era). The rooms (and the entire hotel) have always been extremely clean, well attended and stylish (very appealing as an architect) and the beds are extremely comfortable, which is really a very important highlight (I am actually trying to find the company that provides it's pillow to purchase for my home). It's very convenient to streetcar, buses, highway and local access and easy walking distance to great local amenities. The courtyard bar and restaurant are wonderful place for impromptu business meeting or to just chill (love the firepits). No matter where my business is in the city, it has worked wonderfully as a REAL home base ... next time in town, I'll be planning more free time to make use of the Gear Room and bicycles for a little more R&R to enjoy the city.…
Alexandra and michael were awesome! They really took great care of us. We just drove in from bend, Oregon for the night and they really made things simple for us. They mapped out places for us to go and suggested to us all the things we should checkout and avoid for this 24 hour period that we are here. Beyond that, we experienced Alexandra and michael to be super friendly, patient, and totally present. I really had no difference in experience checking in here vs the ritz. The room itself is clean and modern. You will love that it is conveniently located near everything and in the heart of downtown. If your looking for a great value, this is an unbeatable option! 5 stars for this hotel
So disappointing in various ways. Our first room stank of cigarette smoke, and we asked to be moved, which they agreed to. Sadly the second room also smelt of cigarettes, though not as badly, so we stuck with it. The hotel needs to get on top of enforcing it's non-smoking policy. Room was OK, bathroom rather dated but functioned perfectly well. But for two nights (out of our three) there was no bar or restaurant; they also served no breakfast, despite there being a menu in the information folder; no laundry facility (which we needed), despite their website saying it was available. There was no housekeeping for the first two days we were there (apparently it has to be specifically requested!). When we complained we got a $5 token instead. Parking was a ridiculous $48 daily. Do not get caught, there are several underground parking places, at a third of the price, including one just behind the hotel. So overall, the most disappointing hotel of our month in the USA.…
Love this cute little hotel I recommend this for anyone trying to have a nice night away. The hotel was clean and in a very nice location all of the staff was very helpful and made the experience worth the money Thank you
My son was getting married in Portland and we needed a place for family and friends to stay. Hotel Zags was great. Starting with reservations Michael was super helpful and gave us a great rate that was better than Priceline. The rooms were spacious and clean and the bed was extremely comfy. Plus they have a terrific patio/courtyard area where you can get drinks or food from the hotel restaurant or just hang out. Live music and happy hour. We’ll be back.
Not much to say about this hotel other than it's nice and well located in downtown Portland. It's clean, the staff were kind and helpful and you can even hire a skateboard or a GoPro for the day if you want. There's no gym on site, but if you ask at reception they'll give you a day pass to the gym 1 block away which was nice. I'd happily stay here again if I found myself in Portland again.
Nice, clean, conveniently located hotel. Reception was friendly and responsive. Michael at reception offered us a warm welcome. Room had everything we needed with Starbucks coffee and a refrigerator. Very close to the very excellent Portland Art Museum.
Extremely friendly and clean. Loved the location and amenities. They had a restraint that I did not try but looked extremely good. Got a 15 dollar credit for food and drink which was nice! Parking was easy and close to all the locations in a nice part of Portland
Great service. Lovely patio garden. Music on patio - first night was a trio and second acoustic guitar. Desks in room are large. Rooms decorated in simple modern w/ pop of color. They have bikes, skateboards, corn hole. Restaurant / bar on site. I will definitely stay here again.
Hotel zags was very nice in terms of pace of stay and the staff. It made the first day of our trip very welcoming! Hotel zags is also kept very clean! Thanks hotel zags and Michael for a very welcoming stay!
