Just stay at the Portland Downtown Hyatt House and loved it. The streetcar stops right out front so it was super easy getting around. The hotel is just south of the main part of downtown which I think is an advantage. I didn't see any homeless encampments and it felt very safe. There's a couple of restaurants withing walking distance, a coffee shop and the river walk. If you have a car, there's more restaurants, subway, Blue Star donuts a few minutes away. Our room was was on the top floor, very clean and quiet. The breakfast had lots of basic options: scrambled eggys, bacon, fruit, yogurt, granola, toast/bagels but the pancakes and french toast were quite dry. We loved the front desk staff. They were super welcoming and helpful. Would gladly stay here again.

The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the layout of the corner suites is spacious and flexible for a family. Our room was filthy--hair in bathroom, crusted food on the dishes, dried old food on the utensils and smeared in the drawers, splattered red and brown stuff on the walls, filthy pots and pans. My teenagers commented on the cleanliness, which says a lot.

Rooms are ok, breakfast was great but the hotel “restaurant” wasn’t more than microwaved food at a high cost. The bed was probably one of the worst I’ve slept in, I travel a lot for work and typically don’t care about the bed…this bed was bad. Parking…$50 a night, valet had to leave my car in the middle of the road because they had not parking to pull into. If you have a car, go elsewhere.

We stayed at the Hyatt House with our 2 dogs when we lost power for 5 days. Despite the hotel being completely booked with other folks without power, the staff kep everything clean, fully stocked and were so warm and friendly. Staff also faced issues with power at their homes and we are so grateful to everyone who worked there this week

The staff was very courteous and professional. The hotel itself was very clean with all amentities functioning properly. The valet parking fee was rather high at $45, which would be the only deterrent from multiple stays.

The overall stay was as expected but there were a few things that needed some improvement: water pressure in the bathroom was pretty low, especially in the shower, the refrigerator was really noisy, one of the window shades was missing, the sofa was somewhat damaged and uncomfortable, and the breakfast was ending at 9:00am which was not too appropriate for people being on vacation. The studios were large, the rooms were well divided and furnished. I will return to this hotel with no problem.

This was our first family trip to Portland and we were only staying for a few days before heading to see the redwoods in Northern California. The hotel is decent: it's clean, relatively updated, and the location is not bad. I can't really say it was exceptional and there were a few areas that were quite disappointing. First, I'll address the location. It's kind of nice being right near the Willamette River. There are some lovely trails, the scenery is great, and there are some shops and restaurants around. Oddly enough though, you would think there would be more dining and shopping options nearby (i.e., within a 5-minute walking distance), but there are far fewer than would be expected. Our room itself was okay, but there were several odd things. There were dishes (not sure if they were clean or dirty) still in the dishwasher, several of the cabinets had shelves and drawer pulls that were falling off, the microwave was missing the glass turntable, and the toilet paper holder was falling off. The breakfast wasn't bad, but it was lacking in variety and healthy options a bit. Some more fresh fruit and veggie options would have been appreciated, but maybe that's just me. My biggest complaint is with the valet parking. I wish we had looked around a bit, as there are some garages right down the street that allow in and out privileges and were much cheaper. It often took a long time for the valet parking attendants to retrieve your car, and many times we arrived back at the hotel with nowhere to pull in for the attendant to park our car. I don't blame the attendants. I'm sure they were doing their best and they are likely underpaid. It appears that the management did not do a good job coordinating this service, especially given the high cost. Overall I would definitely prefer to find another hotel if we visited Portland again, but I wouldn't outright refuse to stay here again.

The location, ambiance, and rooms at the Downtown Hyatt House were excellent. If you need access to the Waterfront OHSU facilities for testing or appointments and need to stay overnight, this is a natural choice.
