I booked a night here after a long flight, based on the location. I was thinking it was one of those renovated hip former dive motel, but in this case it's just a dive. The "non-smoking" room clearly had been smoked in for a long time – it had that smell of decades of tobacco smoke plus the classic scent of cheap motel disinfectant. The bed was the most uncomfortable I've slept on in ages. Like sleeping on a park bench, under a paper bag blanket, but without the fresh air. The lights were cold and harsh. The toilet paper holder was literally falling out of the wall. Welp, get what ya pay for, I guess.
During a recent trip to the Oregon coast, we decided to stay in Portland for a couple of days at the end of our trip. Trying to find a hotel in the Portland area as a last minute idea proved to be tricky. Hotels in Portland are ridiculously expensive or in places you wouldn't want to take your family too. The Eastside Lodge actually presented a budget friendly stay, in a decent location, that ended up being so convenient that we couldn't have picked better had we been trying. The rooms were quite a bit larger than I was expecting, and the were very clean and comfortable. I quite enjoyed the front desk staff as well. Friendly and quick with the jokes which made the little ones laugh. The location is perfect. There are quite a few places to eat around the hotel. There is a bridge that takes you right into downtown just a couple of blocks away. The Tilikum Crossing Bridge and the Children's Museum are about a mile away. The Moda Center is also really close. The only real complaint that I have is the parking. There are very few parking spots in the lot so anybody coming back late will very likely have to find a place to park off-site.…
We stayed on 8/28/21. Location is ok. Walking distance to lots of good food. Be careful with bed bugs. We left with nasty bed bugs bites. Management didn’t do anything or offer any compensation or refund. Stay away.
My room was very clean and comfortable... The motel staff were gracious and accommodating! Though the neighborhood at first appeared a little dicey, I felt safe walking around. There are several nice restaurants and shops located within walking distance.
Don't judge a book by its cover. While the outside does not look great, the inside is impressive. For how cheap it was, the room was amazing. The bed was comfortable, good A/C, all the furniture looked new and the bathroom was clearly recently remodeled. It had a nice stand up show with glass door. Very clean and friendly staff. Plenty to do in the eastside and not that far to downtown if you don't mind walking 25 mins.
I had to cancel my reservation because I had to evacuate my home and work because of the Oregon wildfires and they still charged me the full price of the stay and cancelation fees. $200 gone due to a natural disaster out of my control.
Rooms were clean and comfortable (not large though--but a good value for the price), free parking, very friendly staff. Convenient location to explore Portland, seemed like a pretty safe area around the hotel. No complaints--enjoyed my stay.
This place is a very good stay for the price. Space looked and smelled clean. King bed was comfortable. And great location for walking to several delicious restaurants and bars. Front desk staff was polite and nice. I recommend staying here.
In Portland for a conference and I brought a give away thumb drive in to drop off for Phil, the front desk nite shift worker. Mr. Kavir, day shift, told me to go to Phil's room as he was not sleeping but was... and here he inserted common street jargon for the solitary activity he was engaged in. Caught me off guard and was of such a nature that it is hard to relate without offense. I considered that Mr Kavir is likely from a society where the street trade is a familiar affair but it is inappropriate to say such a thing to a customer. I never saw Mr. Kavir again and that was the best part of my stay at Eastside. A good resolution would be to know that he was canned or put in a position where his behavior would be appropriate. Like pimping. This was astonishingly wrong!
Feels like a standard mid-century motel. Friendly staff. Free parking is a plus. Great location. Make sure you know what you're paying before agreeing. The so-called "Tax Recovery" fee increased the bill by 35% from the base price quoted on Trip Advisor. As such, the nicer hotel downtown where I stayed a week later actually cost less -- however the free parking did make up the difference.
