Hotel's Favourite

The town's vibe is eclectic, historic, relaxed, and charming. The food and wine scene is phenomenal. Atticus is a beautiful representation of the general attitude of the area--kind and welcoming. There is an authenticity to the service that feels committed to the comfort of each individual. The decor is flawless. Rooms and common areas are spotless. Our only complaint was the continental breakfast, which was uninspired and consisted of stale pastries, warm yogurt, and fruit covered in flies for $15 per person. Maybe it is more appetizing earlier (we came down after 9AM), but we just left and went a few blocks down the street and had an amazing breakfast for the same price. The check-in and valet experiences were wonderful. Checking out in the rain was efficient, but lacked a covered area. Room.amenities were top notch. I love having real cups, plates, glassware and utensils. Coffee and tea in glass containers maintains freshness. French press was available as was real cream in the fridge. Fireplace was wonderful when it got cold in the evenings. We appreciated the explanations on the bedside tables of the bedding, which is a European duvet without a top sheet. I did not find the pillows and mattress comfortable (pillows are too soft and mattress was very firm), but the good quality of everything was obvious. The high ceilings were appealing, as was the natural light from the large windows. It is a bit noisy in the area if you are a light sleeper, so I was glad to be on the top floor. Our view wasn't much, but we weren't there for that. The proximity to great food and wine country was the draw, and on that it consistently delivers. The concierge offered great recommendations and the waiting area downstairs is beautifully appointed and very inviting. Overall a great stay.

We stayed at The Atticus during a recent wine country road trip. We had met someone during our travels who recommended several hotels in the area and I called each of them. After speaking to Ruben at The Atticus, our mind was made up. He could not have been friendlier or more knowledgeable when I called to inquire. Plus, the hotel exceeded our expectations, even in the time of Covid.

The lobby and especially the secret room were stylishly designed with nice touches, including a nut display and locally made nutcrackers to celebrate the town’s agricultural roots and its ties to walnut and hazelnut growing along with beautiful silhouetted portraits of local characters.

We loved the decor of our room complete with a comfy sitting area, reading books, walnuts and hazelnuts and French pressed coffee.

The hotel’s location in the center of town could not be more convenient and the restaurant in the hotel was cute with Covid-friendly outdoor tables for breakfast. The amenities, including the sparkling wine at check in, the all day expresso, the walnuts and hazelnuts (and the story behind them) and the to go waters at check out we’re much appreciated.

We had a great experience at the Atticus (and got meet Ruben in person, get a tour of the secret room and even get hiking trail recommendations) and would definitely recommend the hotel to friends.

Pamela, this is so sweet!!! Thank you SO much for giving us the chance to host you and for making time to write such a lovely and thoughtful review. We can't tell you how much we appreciate it! We're so glad that you were able to connect with Ruben. He's a terrific guy and a really important part of our team. We all love meeting our guests so much, and having the chance to share our community you. We're so glad Ruben had the chance to do that! We also love hearing that you enjoyed spending some time in our Drawing Room, and that you had a chance to experience having a meal outside at Red Hills Kitchen. It's so fun to dine street side and watch life go by. Again, we really appreciate your willingness to stay with us. We hope to see you again soon--we'll be waiting with that glass of Bubbly in hand! All our best, Erin, Brian, Ben & the Atticus Hotel family

My wife and I wanted to get away for the New Year’s holiday, and after seeing the reviews online, we gave the Atticus a try. The hotel is boutique-y in all the right ways, and the staff was incredible the whole time, whether it be welcoming us with glasses of sparkling wine, explaining the covid protocols clearly up front so we knew what to expect, helping with recommendations, or offering us complimentary espresso drinks throughout the stay. Our room was spacious and cozy, it felt more like an apartment than a hotel room. The wine fridge helped keep our NYE champagne cold, the fireplace kept us warm, and the French press coffee helped us get going in the morning. Our only issue were the pillows, as they were square and thin, so if we stay again we will bring our own pillows. The location was perfect, right off Third St, so everything downtown was walkable, and it was just 10-15 minutes by car to the wineries we visited. The attached restaurant was delicious as well, will a great little market area for cheeses, meats, and wine to go. Overall we had a great stay and will be back!

The Atticus is a beautifully designed, cozy and quaint hotel in a wonderful location allowing you to walk to restaurants and shops. We’ve been there twice while visiting the wine country and the service from the moment we arrived was friendly and helpful and they even offer a glass of bubbly.
The rooms are clean, cozy, have lovely extra amenities and feels more like you’re visiting your friends house filled with warmth. We had breakfast at the restaurant and it was fresh and flavorful and accompanied by a great Bloody Mary. This is our favorite hotel in the wine country.

My husband and I spent a single night at the Atticus Hotel in McMinnville for his birthday. It was exceptional in every way. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the facilities were gorgeous without being over the top, and the location in the heart of downtown can't be beat. I absolutely loved the complimentary hazelnuts and walnuts in our room as well as the incredible freestanding bathtub with fantastic bath salts and Pendleton robes. We felt pampered without feeling ridiculously pretentious or stuffy. It was also within minutes of the Evergreen Aviation Museum, which houses the Spruce Goose and many other historic aircraft. I would highly recommend the Atticus Hotel for anyone wanting to spend some time in McMinnville. My husband and I can't wait to go back for a longer stay!

We have enjoyed our stay both times at the Atticus. We loved our first stay so much that we decided to go with the more expensive choice compared to where some our friends were staying and stay again and were unfortunately not as impressed as the previous stay. The hotel is very lovely, overall quaint and warm, with friendly staff. They offered us champagne in the lobby as we waited for our room to be ready and had friendly conversations. There is a nice restaurant and bar on the main level. The room is small but clean and cozy with a fireplace and nice little kitchenette (coffee/tea, water, and wine fridge). We noticed some things that appeared as if they could be updated (furniture, old flowers in the outside flower boxes) and the bed unfortunately was not as comfortable as it appeared, the pillows quite lumpy in fact which was disappointing. We would probably consider staying again compared to the other choices in the area due to the friendly staff and location within McMinnville, but if you are looking for an affordable place that is truly worth the value then this may not be it.

The Atticus Hotel is simply exquisite! Every single thing about our experience from the staff, the atmosphere, location, recommendations by the staff for wineries especially exceeded our expectations. We were not sure what to expect given the times we are living in, but after changing our plans twice, the third time was more than a charm. I can not think of one single thing that could have been anymore perfect. We will definitely travel back to McMinnville and stay at the Atticus Hotel!

I loooooved how curated this hotel was. Every single little detail was custom, local, and really really cool. I noticed all of it! My husband really enjoyed the bath products and I loved the books and fireplace.

We were next to the maid’s supply room which was great (no neighbors on one side), but we could still somehow hear a LOT through the vents? Sneezing, coughing, flushing toilets, and conversations could all be heard in detail. Street noise was present enough to keep us awake for a bit even though we were on the top floor. There was also a wasp in our bathroom which was pretty unsettling, and my husband was disappointed to find the coffee cup he went to use was definitely used by a previous guest and not cleaned.

After a relaxing morning we were very rushed to leave by staff, which just leaves a bad taste in your mouth. After packing our bags we asked for coffees around 10:30am (checkout is @11), and the person at the desk was pushy about taking our keys even though we still needed to grab our things. Then at 11 on the dot, as we’re going to the elevator, we get a passive aggressive phone call rushing us out of the room. We were compliant and followed the rules but I almost felt like we were doing something wrong.

Our stay was nice overall but I left feeling kinda “meh” about it. For a place that paid so much attention to detail in it’s design, it was definitely lacking in the little (important) things when it comes to guest experience.

We really enjoyed our 4-night stay at the Atticus, which was recommended by a friend. The staff was amazing from start to finish: gracious, helpful, friendly. Though we loved our spacious suite on the top floor, we had almost no storage for our clothes. There were two small drawers in the "closet" (no door) and 6 hangers. There was no luggage rack either. We kept all of our shoes in a corner of the room. The night tables hardly had room for a travel clock, glasses, and a bottle of water. There were not the basic bathroom amenities one expects (like a shower cap.) And many hotels these days also have a microwave, which is helpful when one brings home leftovers! We dined at the Red Hills Kitchen once, but barely. They closed at 9pm and at 8:50 we asked if we could order another dish, and were told, "no, only dessert. Kitchen is closing!" Quite a number of shops and restaurants were closed on Monday and Tuesday, if not more days. As we were there from Saturday to Wednesday, this was disappointing, but certainly not the hotel's fault. We have no problem paying for a terrific hotel, but then being charged $15 for valet parking (just driving the car into a lot 10 feet away, next to the hotel) felt like an insult. The free coffee in the morning was appreciated, but the cups were like tiny thimbles -- maybe 6 ounces tops. Slightly larger would be appreciated!

This is just an awesome hotel. We've never had a better experience than our stay at this hotel. The owners and team are as thoughtful and accommodating as humanly possible and the amenities and in-room offerings were just perfect. The quality of the furnishings and amenities along with the cleanliness will be tough to beat anywhere in the world. They have done a beautiful job with this property and are running it on all cylinders. We were here during the COVID crisis and never felt as if we were threatened whatsoever because of how well the property is being managed and the high-level of cleanliness.
