Belknap is a clothing required hot springs. There are two swimming/soaking pools, full service RV sites, beautiful gardens, hiking trails and lots of nature exploring to enjoy.

RV sites depending on what area you choose can be sandwiched in with no privacy or nice large sites with a bit of privacy. Shower rooms were spotless and smelled like a nice disinfectant being used.

Strongly suggest you take the time to enjoy the hiking trail that borders the beautiful river. Great photo opportunities.

Staffers were nice and helpful.

Our family camped at Belknap end of July. Front desk wore masks but we did not see any of the maintenance staff have a mask available. The front desk got snippy when asked questions - they didn't seem to be able to handle multi-tasking in a nice way.
The restroom/shower area in the lobby was dirty. the toilets needed a good cleaning.
Same with the upper bath/shower. The toilet stalls were rusty and the concrete floor was awful. What they use for cleaning looked like dumping clorox on the floor and then hosing it off..UGH. If you stay in an RV site by the lodge they lock the lodge at 9PM so if you need to use the restroom you need to go to the upper restroom.. They need to put a honey bucket on the lower level parking area which would stop the foot traffic into the lodge. One family member stayed in a cabin. The floors were awful and the blinds needed a bad cleaning. Its a nice place, beautiful grounds but really needs some money put into updating.

I read some of the reviews after I booked and was a little hesitant about how my experience would be. I was pleasantly surprised I guess? No issues with front desk staff they were nothing but polite, helpful, cheerful.

I stayed in lodge room 1. I found the room to be clean and satisfactory. Yes, I saw a couple cobwebs and a dead bug. The area is pretty remote so not shocking to me. The decor is dated and the volume on the dvd only tv was not great. But who cares about that when you have the beautiful trees and the raging River and hot soothing pool at your disposal. It was nice the room wasn’t carpeted with nasty carpet just plain laminate floor. I had my dog with me and I’d suggest bringing an extra towel for your doggie because it’s rainy and wet and you cannot bathe your dog in the room. There was a decent size fridge and a microwave available so definitely bring your meals there is nothing else around.

My only minor complaint would be that the pool is heavily chlorinated…so there’s not really that
sulphur-y hot springs smell and feel that I personally love…maybe I’m alone on that haha. Just feels like a hot swimming pool and the chlorine odor is hard to get off and makes my skin itch. It’s probably a health department thing…but if not…Belknap Springs consider letting some of that natural hot springs smell in to the pool! Haha.

Would definitely recommend. Beautiful place.

A lot of bleach...burn your nostrils strong.
Also they said my room had a fireplace but actually it had two propane heaters in the fireplace.
And the website said $20 pet fee. Not $20 per pet. Most businesses specify this on their website.
My room was also by the "public day use" for which I had to walk through the lodge to get to and the showers were all in one giant stall and there isn't even a curtain or dressing area anywhere in the place. Also with all of the bleach in the pool a little soap dispenser would be nice!
Additionally they said there was wifi...they failed to mention it was only in the lobby and that it really didn't even work there. I would like to unplug and not need the wifi unfortunately the pool is not for me so what else to do!...thankfully I brought a book. Not worth $166.

Belknap Hot Springs Lodge & Gardens is extraordinarily beautiful and well maintained. There were absolutely NO issues with reservations, each time I called a live person answered with courtesy and kindness. Sharla at the front desk was sweet & professional while showing everyday that she cares intently for her guests.
If you are looking for a corporate glass & brass, on cutting edge of tech with room service and concierge 24/7 you may wish to head back to the city. BECAUSE this is the ultimate retreat to get away from all of the above. This incredible property is covered with acres of healthy forest carved with a labyrinth of trails, manicured gardens & meadows and secret delights you must experience for yourself. Nature is present here. Martha (salt of the earth) is one of the many talented gardeners who care for the gardens with love. Her green thumb is obvious no matter where you look.
The hot springs pools are clean & convenient whether you arrive for a room in the lodge, cabin or RV space overlooking McKenzie river or a camping nook nestled in the woods.
Belknap was established in 1874 with an eye to the future with welcoming, imaginative, planning ongoing in their gardens, forest landscaping as well as lay out of this amazing place.
One comes here to hear the river, bathe in the hot springs, walk the trails, delight in the secret hidden gardens. To be reminded of who we are beyond the the din of the busy outside world...find peace...find calm. FIVE STARS!!

The rooms are old and outdated. I have been here several time never had a problem with the staff they were always very friendly. The beds are absolutely miserable! Springs jabbing your back every time you move the bed lets out awful creaking sounds. If you want a peaceful soaking experience this is not the place as crowds of kids and handicap people pour in to a shoulder to shoulder setting of chaos and poor hygiene. They need to make day use hours from 10am-5pm so that you can actually enjoy the place with other people paying $140+/night instead of $8 for the same hours. DVD selection consists of every movie ever made that nobody wanted to watch. All and all if I were to ever go back (which I probably wont) I would bring the travel trailer instead of staying in the crappy lodge.

I have visited Belknap Hot springs many times over the years and hoped to do so again in February 2021. Even though I have noticed the poor attitude of the check in staff and read the criticisms in the poor reviews, I was willing to overlook them because of the enjoyable aspects of visiting the area, soaking in a hot pool and enjoying beautiful views. This time I was hoping to camp at the campground or at the very least check availability. Not happening. The website reservation system is unusable and uninformative. The reservations phone number listed on the website is a recording that give no option to speak actually talk to anyone and redirects to the useless website. Email to info@belknaphotsprings.com goes unanswered. This is all frustrating and disappointing. I know this can be a fun place to visit but the lack of basic customer service is thwarting my attempt a visiting. Belknap is you are listening, you need to do better. Judging by the many poor reviews as well as my own experience, you are failing miserably!

A simple restaurant for breakfast and lunch/snacks would be sweet! Gals at front desk were efficient and kind. Housekeeping staff checked on us the following morning to make sure we had everything needed in cabin 2. Maintenance staff was polite and helpful. Cabin was simple, clean, comfortable and well stocked. Pools were clean, hot and magical as were trails and garden. A wonderful place to celebrate my 40th. Will return time and again as long as service and environment stay this great.

I have read the reviews complaining of the customer service, old rooms and the phones. I have visited Belnap twice a year since 2012. I love this place, it is unique and not a cardboard cookie cutter "fancy" hotel style lodge. The different retro lodge rooms give you a view of the different decades of the hotels lifespan. The pools are amazing, the beds are amazingly comfortable, the river is relaxing. I have stayed in the upstairs two bedroom suite, great for a family trip. I have stayed in the side dog friendly rooms, and even the second floor in the tiny room, when the lodge was full. On that occasion they moved us out of the little room as soon as space opened up and even offered to move our luggage to the larger room down the hall. I realize they have internet and phone issues right now and booking there requires a phone call. Please be patient and don't be a hater, the fire was right down the road from them and I am sure it is difficult to have anything work properly right now. I emailed them to check availability for my next trip.
This place is a gem, the landscaping alone gives it the "wow" factor! If you want updated "niceness" go stay at a best western.

I think RV and tent campers have the best experiences at Belknap Hot Springs and Logde. (I rented a cabin a couple years ago, and it was ok. There were RVs in front and behind the cabin that kind of ruined the experience.) This year, we were able to get a reservation for tent camping when our state parks trip was cancelled with two weeks notice. The grounds are gorgeous and we felt like we were out in the woods, instead of at a resort. There are wheelbarrows to use in schlepping stuff from the car to the sites. Good luck trying to get one tho... people were hoarding them and one of the nice groundskeeper gentleman had to go round them up for new people checking in. There is one bathroom for campers and people walking the grounds; ladies room had two toilets and two shower stalls.
The staff was really friendly and it was nice to soak in the spring water pools. It's a beautiful spot and worth cheeking out if you have a RV or tent.
