My wife and I have visited Malheur Federal Wildlife Refuge and the Steens Mountain area many times in the past 45 years. This week,of July 25, 2016 was our fourth stay at Steens Mountain Wilderness Resort since it has been under the management of the present owners. Although we have no business relationship with the owners, we have known some...

Great stay in cabin # 8! The cabin is newly renovated and is very comfortable. The king size bed is very comfortable too! Great views and sunsets from the cabin. It has all of the conveniences of home so we were able to cook and dine in comfort!

Stayed here for 3 nights. Very quiet. Is on the southern end of Malheur National wildlife area. Great birding. 2 miles from main road, dirt road pretty rough, but doable. Full hookups, which is nice. Staff is very friendly.

Although this review is appearing in the "Hotel" reviews, we're talkin' about the RV Park part of Steens Resort (Trip Advisor, for some reason, doesn't have an RV Park category). Upon our arrival, the lady at the desk was super cordial as we checked in, gave us our choice of available sites and told us to ask for an alternative...

Of course the main reason to stay here is the remote and beautiful Steens Mountains - this is literally the closest you can get without camping. It's right off the Steens Mountain Loop drive - a gravel road, by the way, but in excellent condition and suitable for sedans even. Besides the location (which is also not too far from...

I am still looking forward to visiting this location - I found the owners very available and quick to respond to emails and phone calls, even at odd hours. However, when my one-night rental of a cabin had to be cancelled with >4 days notice because the friend I was meeting was hospitalized in Bend, the best that could be...

The 'Homestead' cabin was meticulously clean, quiet, comforts of home with AC, fully equipped kitchen, two separate bedrooms. The owners were immediately available, friendly and very helpful. 'Resort' definition by Wikipedia: "A resort is a place used for relaxation or recreation." My expectations for relaxation and recreation were far exceeded from seeing wild horses to exceptional photography opportunities. All you...

Our family stayed in the Homestead cabin. There were 5 of us and it was very comfortable. This unit is such a nice set up. We all commented on how we would love to have a home like this one. The staff at the resort are very kind and helpful. They made us feel very welcome and went out of...

We stayed at crane hot springs for two nites before arriving here. While the accommodations here are tight they are better quality and clean. There are not many options in the steens but this seems to be a good one!

“cabin 9 is wonderful. You can sit on the deck or in the cabin looking out at the birds. Nighthawks on the post and railings. Deer walking by. The quail running around and the rabbits checking out what is going on. If you like wildlife it is a great cabin to watch it.”
