Very friendly and helpful, responsive employees. Motel itself is old but clearly they are working on renovations, and I found it quite quaint. Reasonably priced and located within walking distance to Hayward Field and campus. Would stay here again.

Friendly reception upon arrival. My earlier request to get a quiet upstairs room had been ignored, but the front-desk gentlemen took care of it. I received a queen bed room with a sofa and coffee table, desk and chair, dresser, fridge with freezer shelf and a microwave oven. All clean and satisfactory. A grab-n-go breakfast was presented in the lobby in the morning including yogurt, oat & honey bar and a small muffin. One had to make coffee in the room, which was not good (I like it strong).

I've stayed at the Franklin Inn for about 15 days so far this year. The location is perfect. Close to the bike path, close to the U of Oregon campus, close to downtown... The rooms are clean, there is an adequate breakfast and free high speed internet. The motel is a little old, for example the bathrooms are small but the rooms are larger than most new motel rooms. The rooms are also equiped with small refrigerators and microwaves. The showers also have new shower heads. Al & Tina, the owners couldn't be nicer and they sure try and keep their clients happy. Prices in the area of $55 to $65 a night are about as good as can be found in Eugene. As an added bonus there is a commercial bakery across the street with wonderful night time smells. There is a 24 hour 7-11 and a very good grocery within a block, great pizza parlor next door, etc. This place is not perfect, but pretty darn good for the money.

Wish I read the reviews before booking. Called the morning of the visit and asked if it would be possible to get a rollaway in the room because I was traveling with 2 -15 year old kids. The person on the phone was very accommodating and told me everything would be taken care of. Arrived at the hotel only to be told that the “guy was new” and no roll away could be placed because of room size. When I asked for options, I was basically told there was nothing I could do. I asked if I could just cancel the room because I was promised something they couldn’t deliver. Now I’m stuck with a tiny room and crammed in. The “manager” at the desk was extremely unfriendly and not helpful at all. Will be speaking to the overall hotel manager.

I have stayed in hotels all around the world, nice ones and cheap ones, but this hotel by far is the worst experience I've ever had. The customer service was absolutely horrible! Then they demanded a $250 deposit for a room that costs $50. It's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard, and I've never had another hotel anywhere charge me that kind of deposit. They also refused to let me cancel the reservation once I was informed about the deposit. So either I had to let them run my card for the deposit or lose my money I paid for the room. NEVER AGAIN! Too many other good, inexpensive hotels in Eugene and Springfield to bother with this dump!

We stayed one night here in our recent Oregon road trip and were very pleasantly surprised! We got a very spacious, clean room right across the street from the university. The grounds were very well kept and immaculately clean. I had hoped to enjoy the heated pool, but the weather wasn’t being cooperative.
Nearby there are tons of eateries and bars, and the front desk provides a helpful list of recommended places. We were so impressed with this hotel, we asked to stay an additional night. Unfortunately some university sportsball thing was happening the next day, and they were all booked up, so we carried on with our trip (to be fair, so was everyone else in town).

Bottom line, whether you are a sportsball fan, or just someone passing through Eugene, the University Inn is a great place to stay during your visit.

Was headed to Eugene for an event had seen this place in the past and figured I would give it a try. Booked a room on line then when I showed up the driveway was blocked by fencing (but you can see cars and people inside) . Went into the "lobby' and the person there told me that the hotel had been closed since Nov 2020. So not sure what is gong on with the fenced in people but seems that this place is closed for regular guests at this point

Hi John, We are open for business again, please stay with us the next time you are in the area. The property was temporarily closed to the public for humanitarian reasons in order to help folks that lost their homes with the Oregon wildfires in recent years. However, we have since remodeled and re-opened, come check us out!

We just stayed for one night.Bed was very firm but provided an ok night's rest.
Ear plugs recommended plus slippers/socks when walking on the stained dirty carpet.
Fortunately the carpet was a dark brown color.I wondered if it had ever been
steam cleaned.
The bathroom was adequate and appeared to have been recently remodeled. The
bathroom door had multiple poorly patched holes the size of a fist plus a steel plate where the door had been kicked in.The walls also had unpainted repairs to holes in the wall.
Perhaps the damage was caused by a disgruntled U of Oregon fan upset his
team was defeated by the Utes or Huskies?
I now understand why this hotel places a damage deposit at check in.
The University Inn was less expensive than nearby competitors.I don't expect
comparable amenities or ambience, just a decent nights sleep in a clean place.
We won't be staying again at the University Inn.

Hello Obadiah, I noticed your review from many years ago when this property was under different management. I wanted to assure you that nothing of what you are describing in this review is accurate under the current conditions. The property has been remodeled with new floors, new HVAC units, a new paint scheme, new beds and upgraded amenities for everyone's convenience. Aside from that, our location is a great feature and attracts a lot of folks due to our vicinity of the university district, concert and sport venues nearby. Please check us out! We have competitive rates and a lot of features that meet or exceed other properties in the area, we even feature a great breakfast included with your stay!

OMG she is the sweetest person and so over the top great at her job. She will go out of her way to make sure you have everything you need and then some, and do it with a smile the whole time :) Been here for work quite a bit and that smile and great attitude has not left her once. 5 stars for sure for her alone!

We stayed at the Franklin Inn Christmas Eve '04. We had 2 rooms for $106.00 plus tax total. While the price was right, both rooms had significant problems. Neither bathroom door would close. It was almost like they received a shipment of doors that were too large but they hung them anyway.

A walk down the breezeway revealed that room conversations could be clearly heard even though the people inside the rooms were speaking at normal conversational volume.

The staff, though friendly, had to be talked into bringing out "yesterday's" muffins and Tang to approximate the promised "Deluxe Continental Breakfast"..

If you are arriving at midnight, leaving at 8:00 and don't want your lodging to be any kind of destination, then the Franklin Inn will do. Otherwise don't.
