Hotel's Favourite
This was my first stay at the Holiday Inn Express Suites in Eugene's University District, and I ended up glad I decided to stay here two nights during a regular Memorial Day weekend visit with my family. The single room that was assigned to me had a comfortable bed, a relaxing easy chair situated right next to the third-floor window, good lighting, a large desk, ample closet space, a small shelf near the TV with a convenient outlet just above it for charging a cellphone, a coffee-maker, micro-wave and refrigerator all in one central location and an immaculate bathroom with plenty of floor and counter space. In addition to those feature, which by themselves earn this earn this well-maintained lodging facility a high rating it's also conveniently located within a block or two from several restaurants, a grocery store, a Dutch Bros. coffee facility and entrance to a network of walking trails along the nearby Willamette River in back of the lodge. So the next time I come down to Eugene for a visit, I will definitely consider staying at this Holiday Inn location again.

This hotel has done a great job still providing a good breakfast including Jimmy Dean's breakfast sandwiches (sausage and egg on biscuit or croissant), cinnamon rolls, juice boxes, yogurt, etc. Everything is packaged or wrapped to avoid contamination problems. The friendly lady kept things stocked, too.
The room was very nice with a luggage space which accommodated 3 carry-on suitcases, a desk and chair and a comfortable chair with a footstool. There was a very spacious walk-in shower (no tub). Everything was clean and nice looking. I highly recommend this hotel. There is also an indoor pool which looked inviting. Free parking in the parking garage.

My son and I stayed for a couple of nights while visiting U of O. Great location , walking distance from school. Room was clean, beds were very comfortable, shower pressure was great as was the temperature. Breakfast was just ok. Due to COVID selection was limited but was fine. The girl handing out the food (I don’t know her name) was very sweet and even answered questions about U of O. Gym and indoor pool seemed fine, but we didn’t use it.
My only negative comment is the level of noise. You can hear everything from your neighbors room. My neighbor was constantly clearing his throat and I could hear people in hallway and housekeeping vacuuming pretty early in the morning.
Overall I enjoyed my stay. Safe, clean and convenient. I’m sure we will be back if my son chooses to attend The University of Oregon.

I want to start by saying that this is a nice hotel. The staff is great, the breakfast they provide is hot and has a good variety. The rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable, and it’s quiet. My problem is with the bathrooms, specifically, the toilets. I stayed at this hotel about 2 years ago and informed management that the toilet in my room needed a good scrubbing. I even provided pictures and they agreed. I was astonished to see that this has not been corrected. I don’t know if it’s hard water stains or something else, but it looks disgusting and I cannot understand why this hotel would allow a room to be occupied with the toilet in this condition.

Response from IHGService, Guest Relations Manager at Holiday Inn Express & Suites Eugene Downtown - University, an IHG hotel
Responded 14 Feb 2020
Hi Galxegn, Thank you for choosing our hotel again for your recent vacation! I am sorry to learn that your recent visit was less than stellar due to housekeeping unable to clean the bathroom thoroughly. I have read that you've previously raised this issue but was still not addressed. I made sure that your comments are documented and shared with the management team for learning. I trust that necessary measures will be taken to ensure this doesn't happen again. I hope that you would still consider us again and give us another chance to host you the next time you visit the area. Regards, Virgil N. Case Manager IHGService

Pros: Spacious room. Comfortable bed with choice of firm or soft pillows. Clean property. Lots of outlets and USB ports. Location feels safe and we parked car where we could see it from the room. There is a Dutch Bros. Coffee right in front of the hotel. Breakfast is included (we didn’t eat breakfast). Staff were pleasant enough.
Cons: Booked on Priceline. This is one of those hotels that they make sure they give you the worst of everything if you book on Priceline. Not sure why they do that as we are still paying guests. Front of property rooms get A LOT of street noise in the morning during commute time. Our room was near the to the elevator and next to the 24-hour laundry that thankfully no one used. Did have some people being loud in the hallways after 11pm. The air conditioner is the loudest I have ever heard. If you are a light sleeper this may not be the place for you.

I stayed here with an organization helping out with the wildfires. The hotel was pretty much full with fire clients and workers, the hotel was clean, well run. My room was large, had a coffeemaker, refrigerator, microwave, large 40"+ TV. M king bed was so comfortable I didn't want to get out of it in the morning. There was 4 body pillows on the bed, all extremely comfortable. The hotel had free washing machines and dryers. Buffet breakfast was limited to hot breakfast sandwiches, fruit, coffee ,yogurt, all served by very friendly hotel personnel.Front desk staff were always friendly and helpful. My ten day stay was delightful.

We enjoyed our stay at the University IHG. clean, quiet room on the 4th floor. Directly across from washer and dryer, which was very convenient (just bring your own detergent) and free. Great breakfast offerings.
We would definitely stay here on a return trip.

$172 for one night in FILTH! One of the beds was missing a top sheet, there was only 1 large bath towel so we had to borrow towels from the pool to use for our showers, the toilet had set so long there was a pinkish/yellow mold around the top of the water and little black bits inside the toilet bowl. Pink mold in the shower that easily wiped out with a hand towel. A moldy, used coffee pod in the coffee maker, there was mold and a huge brown spill all over the bottom of the microwave under the glass turner. There was no way to have a light on next to the bed without having all of the other lights on as wells, you could not just shut the extra lights off. The TV remote did not work properly. Huge stain on the carpet, everything was dusty and had greasy finger prints on it. The room card said it was cleaned by Alicia and had a smiley face next to her name. We checked in a left the hotel without checking the room and arrived back too late to get a room change or the room cleaned or even a top sheet on the bed. Who doesn't put 2 sheets on the bed? Absolutely a HORRIBLE, dirty room. I can not believe they haven't refunded our money, it was just awful! Let us not forget the nosy vehicles screeching in and out of the apartment complex behind the hotel all night, revving their engines and such and then, apparently, it was "garbage day" because they were dragging dumpsters to the street crashing and banking all the way. Our Itinerary Number:11545572397 We stayed one night, May 22nd.

Just back from three nights. The room was impeccably clean and nice size. The shower was great. Because of covid, housekeeping did not come by everyday, but a quick call to the front desks got extra towels. Breakfast was still available with prepackaged muffins, yogurt, cereal and breakfast sandwiches. They're was a Kerrigan in the room for hot coffee and tea. Super close to UofO . My family enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Great value, will be staying here again.

The location was great- very accessible to the university and the freeway. Parking lot had ample parking and checkin was easy. The 2 Queens plus sofa bed room was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom supplied soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The free breakfast had a wide variety of hot food, toast, fruit, yogurt, and cereal as well as coffee, juice, and tea.

My name is, Sarah Smith, the General Manager at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites - Eugene Downtown/University. As you have noticed we are currently under renovation and expansion. The 34-additional new rooms and 4th floor will be under construction until mid-April. Currently our public spaces are not under renovation at all. We are recommending guests who are sensitive to noise to be request the 2nd floor. We are happy to add that note once you reserve. Please let me know if I can be of any additional assistance.
