Located just blocks from downtown area, Timbers Inn has all the confidence aura of a place that has a clear pride of belonging. The sprawling lobby also boasts a dining area and exudes charming and compelling warmth from the minute we walked. The personality of the staff reflect the sense of local pride: welcoming Katelyn helped us during check in and later friendly Ruther served us cold beverages. Both gave the best first impression and were incredibly engaging and helpful in their professionalism and hospitality.
We had made a very last-minute decision to spend an extra night in Eugene so we felt incredibly lucky to be able to snag their last room on just a few hours notice. We got into the city around 10 PM and slipped into the Katy open parking spot, we were definitely delighted to discover Timbers hosts their own beer/wine happy hour until 11 PM. We, later joined by some other guests, were able to snag a pint of cold beer in chilled glasses after check in. After six hours of driving that was heaven. They served the iconic HazeMatic IPA by the legendary Ninkasi Brewery and a sparkling white that kept guests coming back.
We lucked out and snagged a
2 Queen Bedroom ($180). Very comfortable style -- we loved the paneled and back lit ceilings and LV wood floors. And they preserved the retro style of the venue by having the retro 70's mint green dial phones and mini refrigerator.
Separated sink and bathing area for more privacy. In the bath tub: not one but two copper shower heads with excellent water pressure for a fantastic bathing experience. Coffee Maker. Microwave & Refrigerator. Full HDTV. Free WiFi. Free parking lot.
It bears mentioning that their beds are incredibly comfortable and the room is exceptionally clean. They have been renovating for several years and we lucked out to sleep in one of the renovated rooms.
Check out photos. The next day we took advantage of prime location and walked 3 mins to the wonderful Saturday morning arts & music market that happens just a couple of blocks away. We loved it. This may be our new favorite place to stay in Eugene, nothing beats the location, and the breakfast + clean rooms with great beds makes it an amazing housing option.
We'll be back.
The front desk staff was very friendly for both the check-in and check-out procedures which a quick and easy process. I requested to be on the ground floor for our single, queen bed motel room as I have some mobility issues. The staff provided us a room on the ground floor on the back side of the building which we were able to have a parking spot right in front of the room.
The room was cleanish. There was some black stains on the comforter, which looked like ink, the carpet at the front door was pretty gross, the table was a bit dirty and for the few minutes I walked on the wood floors without socks and shoes, my feet became dirty. But, aside from that, the room was fairly clean and comfortable. The air conditioning worked great which was amazing since it was in the high 80’s during our visit. The old charm of the room was amazing, the original shower and tile, along with the MCM style furniture and wood ceilings throughout.
Aside from the carpets and floors in our room, the complaints I have were how loud the upstairs guest was. I’m surprised that when they installed the new wood ceilings, they didn’t install new insulation in the ceiling to help absorb the sound. Apparently, the upstairs guest needed to be awake at 5am and leave by 6am. It sounded like they were moving furniture and stomping back and forth the entire time and then let the door slam.
My other complaint was the breakfast available was incredibly limited. The bacon didn’t look like it had been cooked at all, more like it was heated in the microwave for maybe 1 minute. The pastries were sad looking and there just wasn’t much of a selection. Personally, I think they could do away with the bacon and other hot items as none of them looked very appetizing. If you want a good breakfast for a really good price, go to Mandy’s just a few blocks away.
We will definitely stay here again if we need to visit Eugene overnight. But I would rather walk up and down the stairs in pain than be put in a downstairs room again. Also, I would prefer a King size bed and a bathtub over a shower, but that’s personal preference.
The breakfast also impressed us. We'd been expecting something minimal, but they had a full breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, waffles, pastries, fruit, yogurt, coffee, juice etc. They keep things safe by requiring guests to wear gloves while serving.
All in all a great stay we'd really recommend!
