We've stayed there twice, and absolutely love Wine Country Farm! While it's somewhat remote from the town of McMinnville, it's literally within walking distance of both Domaine Serene and Domaine Drouhin, two of Oregon's premier wineries, as well as three others nearby. Views are magnificent, rooms are comfortable, breakfasts are delicious, and parking is more than ample--what more could you ask for?

Our original stay was during the IPNC (International Pinot Noir Celebration), and we were treated to a wine dinner sponsored by Eyrie Vineyards--it was spectacular, with all sorts of library wines being served. I don't know if these dinners are done at other times of the year, but it's worth asking about, and worth the cost.

I just returned from a week vacation in Oregon. My mother and I stayed for 3 nights at Wine Country Farms in the Yamhill Room. We had an excellent time and couldn't have found a more beautiful B&B. It is on the top of a hill surrounded by vineyards. What a view! In the morning, we could watch the hot-air ballons coming up over the hills in the distance. It's located in a great area for seeing the local wineries.

The owner went out of her way to make our stay pleasant. We arrived 2 hours early and were allowed to check-in. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The owner and staff went out of their way to recommend local restaurants and wineries to visit. The gardens at the B&B were beautiful. My mom is an avid gardener and the owner would walk with my mom around the garden pointing out some of the different plants which we don't have in NC. Everything about our stay was wonderful and I hope to return for another stay with my husband.

We wanted to stay in a B & B in the wine country of Oregon and selected this one for its' rural location. It surpassed our expectations by being so beautifully located with gardens and gazebos, horses, huge patio over looking the vineyards below in the valley and four star breakfasts. It felt like we were in Italy instead of Oregon! It was quiet yet close enough to the surrounding vineyards and towns that you could easily come and go. Our room was attractive, clean, and well appointed. The common areas were also furnished with our comfort in mind. But oour hosts were the best part! They gave us good advice about attractions in the area, which vineyards would give us free tastings because we were staying there, and even gave us their pass card for Evergreen museum which was a real financial plus. We couldn't have been more delighted with our stay here, and if you like staying in a B & B, this is one place you won't want to miss. Reasonably priced too.

I was made to feel extremely unwelcome at the Wine Country Farm. The owner(? Joan) was rude, unprofessional, and ungracious. It was the single most unpleasant hospitality experience I've ever had, and I've traveled extensively for business and pleasure (and I'm a nice person!).

I was told by other guests that a "welcome" glass of wine was available upon arrival. When it was not offered after several reasonable opportunities, I rather timidly asked about it: "I was wondering about a glass of wine?" Joan acted ignorant of the tradition ("Oh? Did you bring some?") and made me feel rude for mentioning it. I apologized and rescinded the request. She subsequently seemed to remember the tradition, by which time I told her I was no longer interested. I know all the other guests in the B&B that night, and I know others were given a glass of wine.

She refused to provide me with a rate when I made my reservation, and she made no mention of extra charges for children (who I know I mentioned because I ascertained that there would be a king-sized bed for three of us to share). There was no documentation of the reservation, so I called a couple days before arrival to confirm it, and I again mentioned the children. She denied knowing about the children (well-behaved 8- and 11-year olds) from when I made the reservation and explained that they were only being allowed because we were associated with the wedding that had booked the entire establishment.

There was no formal check-in upon arrival; we were just shown to our room. When we asked to pay upon departure the next morning, Joan charged my credit card an extra $70 ($35 per child); this was more than 50% of the price of the room. When my sister later checked out with her 7-year old, there was no additional charge for her child; and when my mother checked out later yet, Joan gave her $40 cash to refund to me--which makes no sense and is extremely unprofessional.

Note too that my kids have traveled a lot in and outside the US. They are quiet and like to read and play chess. They took off their shoes inside the B&B, and they were polite and considerate. Neither they nor I gave Joan any cause for rude treatment. Yet we received suspicious glares throughout our time there.

Joan's passive-aggressive behavior ruined an otherwise beautiful setting and superb breakfast. I strongly recommend NEVER staying at the Wine Country Farm nor subjecting your wedding guests to its poor hospitality.

Wine Country Farm hosts about 30 weddings plus many other functions in between being totally booked during our season. We have been doing so for 15 years. When our inn is booked for a wedding the bridal couple fill the rooms with the guests they choose. They know we accept children 12 and older. Rates for each room are not given out as there is a package price for the event. There are brochures in each room listing our prices for the guests. When someone shows up unexpectedly with children we do try to make the very best of the situation even though the children are under our age limit and at times can be very rambunctious. We close our tasting room to the public for the event, consequently, do not do wine tasting for the guests as everyone is busy setting up for the wedding. We take great pride in our service and our facilities. Some of my staff have been with me for over 10 years. We do understand that weddings can be very stressful for some people and would like to invite the couple to come and enjoy the hospitality that enabled us to be featured in 1,000 Places to See Before You Die. The views of the valley are gorgeous and the setting is beautiful but the Inn itself needs a good updating and a major cleaning. There is burgundy carpet everywhere - including the bathroom YUCK - and our room had sheer curtain panels wrapped around everything with fake greenery that all looked like it had not been cleaned in a year. We had to walk through the tasting room to get to our room and it smelled horribly and was also dirty. The food was OK but not even comparable to other B&B's we have stayed at
in this price range. We freaked out the first morning because as we were coming in to get coffee before breakfast the kitchen helper was spraying everything with febreeze! If you want to pay top dollar for mediocre rooms and food then stay but otherwise find some other place........

This guest and all guests were advised that the propane had run out, consequently the "gas" smell. The burgandy carpet is new and this is "wine" country and we keep an immaculate house and grounds. Gosh, I thought our breakfasts were wonderful as just about everyone claims they are. I certainly realize you cannot please everyone but we sure try!

The place is a beautiful setting for a wedding. My husband and I got married there in 2003. Everything was great except the owner of the place was very rude and tried to charge us extra as we were leaving the next day. Tried to charge us for something that wasn't in the contract we signed. The place is a winery and a B&B and you are not allowed to have any wine in your room? What kind of place is that? The breakfast was not gourmet, it was very skimpy and the eating time was very rigid.
We were very disapointed.

Wine Country Farms is one of the most relaxing places I've ever been. Our room was huge - a California king bed (my wife and I were barely in the same area code), a sofa for watching the recessed television, and a private balcony overlooking the expanse of the vineyards and the Willamette valley in the distance. The view simply never gets old. The owners' friendly dog would actually come up the exterior stairs to visit us on the balcony, and accompanied us on our walks, with great enthusiasm - which we loved. Every morning before breakfast, we walked among the grapes and the wineries, and could usually come back to the vision of Mt. Hood looming in the distance. Breakfast, which was different every day, but fantastic every time, is served family style, allowing the visitor to meet, get to know, and become friends with the other guests. For example, we've been invited to visit Seattle by another couple we met there. There are a half dozen wineries - all first rate - that are easily in walking distance, and dozens more only a short drive away. If you'd care to go on horseback, winery-to-winery tours are offered each day. While there is no other meal offered besides breakfast (though it is so plentiful that we never needed lunch), there are full kitchens available on site, and very good restaurants of all types are only a short drive away in McMinnville, Newburg, or Dayton. I'm not going to mention the name of the bedding manufacture (though you can find out from the owners), but it was simply the most comfortable bed I have ever experienced. Even in August, we needed air conditioning only briefly, in the afternoon. It is so quiet that, as soon as the sun went down, we simply turned off the AC and opened the screened sliding glass door onto the balcony, enjoyed the cool, and slept like logs. The staff was invariably pleasant, cheerful, efficient, and unobtrusive. Everywhere on the property were benches, chairs, hammocks, or gazebos that allowed visitors to sit and drink up the views - or the wine. If you're looking for a place that has action attractions until the wee hours, then this might not be the place for you. On the other hand, if you're looking for a place that allows you to gear down and recharge your batteries, then I can't think of a better place. My wife and I both have fairly stressful jobs, but after only one day there, she turned to me and exclaimed, "I am at peace!" We're already planning our return - only for longer next time.

Like others, we were looking forward to our stay and for the price expected better quality: Vineyard room was definitely lacking in furniture, lighting, ambiance- the carpet definitely has to go! In addition, we found the breakfast to be just "ok". while the food was warm and waffles were served, the scrambled eggs, etc. were rather bland. Most important, the owners demonstrated no real interest in guests, never thanked us for our stay even though we also purchased some wine. The whole experience seems to reflect the attitude of the owners, very bland!

Our family of five, including an 18 month baby, stayed at the Summit Suites We were warmly greeted by Brian who took us to the house and showed us around. He was full of information. The view from the house was spectacular, surrounded by vineyards. The landscape seemed so peaceful and so serene. The house was perfect for our needs and close to a lot on wineries.

My husband took me to Oregon for my 40th birthday. We wanted to do some wine tasting in the Willamette Valley area so we stayed at the Wine Country Farm B&B for three nights. It is a cozy house with beautiful views of the vineyards. It is in a great location with many wineries within walking distance. You get a great home cooked breakfast every morning (which is good for all the wine tastings we did). We enjoyed taking walks every morning with their dog Gree (actually he took us for walks) thru their and surrounding vineyards. One of the owners Brian, was very helpful in helping my husband plan the perfect birthday for me. We went horse back riding thru their vineyards with Equestrian Wine Tours which was a lot of fun. Brian also suggested that we go to Red Hills for dinner (I highly recommend it) and also Nick's Italian Café (very good homemade pastas and pizza). I had a great birthday and can't wait to come back.

Hello, Thank you for your inquiry. Our children policy is 12 and older unless it is a whole house booking. Unfortunately we will not be able to help you with your travel plans. FYI most of the B&B's in the area have a policy of 12 or older, there are some that are 10 years.
