During the Old Skool Motorcycle Rally, I stayed two nights at The Dragonfly Lodge. It was by far the most enjoyable place I've ever booked - site unseen - and to top it off, it was only about 100 steps from the Panguitch County Fairgrounds and the rally.
I'd highly recommend this Lodge. The owners have put a lot of effort into making this lodge a friendly and comfortable place. The rooms are not old skool, but new skool. Amenities are basic but updated and it is very clean and comfortable.
I highly recommend Dragonfly Lodge for its personality, its convenience, and its cleanliness. I will return, no question.

Stayed for three nights with two other couples.
Best panoramic views over the bay to the peninsula and Shouten Island.
Each couple had their own self contained bet room suite and the shared area is wonderful with lounges a central fireplace and an ultramodern kitchen.
All the kitchen equipment is top of the range and the Chinese antiquities are stunning.
It is hard to find fault with anything about the place.

A well appointed place to stay with views to nourish the soul and decor to appease the senses. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and plan to return soon. Thank you to all involved in the design and decorating of such a welcoming place.

This property is very much a hidden gem of the East Coast of Tasmania. Total luxury, divine views, and most things you could possibly want for a beautiful stay.
3 couples were in our party. It accommodates up to 6 with king beds which can be separated into king singles. Pantry items exceptional, advertising it provides Australian/Irish breakfast provisions. Our only complaint for our 2 night stay would be no spreads or jams provided for breakfast, so if thinking of going take these items with you. Hot breakfast ingredients, plus bread, butter provided, even a bread maker with ingredients.
We took our own dinner provisions as didn’t want to leave the property. Even though it was winter the house is warm and the double sided fire an absolute bonus. Bedrooms are nicely separated from each other, all with large ensuites.
We will be back, loved it!

Was looking for a more remote Tasmanian experience and having chosen the Swansea region came across Dragonfly Lodge - it did not disappoint in any respect.

Dealing with the owner and manager could not have been easier or more efficient, everything that they said would be done was done, not a problem with anything.

The venue is fastidiously maintained, everything is of a very high standard. Three King rooms, each with ensuite bathrooms with everything as it should be. A large open plan living area but well designed to provide separate areas, great for relaxing or socialising. Given the welcoming environment and excellent service in making the arrangements we all felt right at home upon arrival. Magnificent views overlooking Oyster Bay to Freycinet.

On arrival there were provisions for breakfast for the first couple of days and fresh seafood had been arranged for delivery, excellent.

For a venue to relax and take it easy this is a great spot, very peaceful. It is off the Tasman Highway which lies between the house and the beach (not a swimming beach at this point) but you would not even know there was a road there, no disturbance at all. The house is a little way out of town but this is no secret in the booking, and an attraction in my view, you can't just walk into Swansea for a coffee but it is only a short drive.

I wouldn't hesitate to return.

We spent two days at Dragonfly recently with friends. I had heard a lot about it and had high expectations. I was not disappointed. The house is wonderful with exceptional attention to detail throughout. It manages to be totally comfortable and welcoming while being minimalist and uncluttered. Everything you could want. The view is to die for - across the bay to the Freycinet peninsula and constantly changing with the light and wind. Spectacular.

We stayed at Dragonfly Lodge in early March with another couple and we all absolutely loved it. We all wished we could have stayed longer than the two nights we booked.

A great deal of thought has been put into the fitout of the house. There is an extensive library, board games, DVDs, iPod & docking station, amazing well equipped kitchen, nespresso machine and BBQ. Provisions are provided for breakfast including fresh bread, eggs, juice, sausages and bacon. Basic groceries are also provided ie butter, milk, sauces, salt/pepper etc, and there are other items (including a selection of Tasmanian wines) available for purchase. There really is no need to leave!

A lot of the decor is Asian inspired and all the furniture and fittings are of top quality. The bedrooms and adjoining ensuites were extremely spacious and we all found the beds very comfortable.

We loved the deck and spent much time sitting out there enjoying the amazing view - and the wallabies! During the evening we saw as many as 10 wallabies sitting in front of the house at once! It was also lovely to have the fire on at night time.

We spent one of the days exploring Freycinet National Park and Wineglass Bay, both located about an hours drive from Dragonfly Lodge. Whist we had a great day exploring the area, in hindsight, we all said we could have easily spent the day relaxing at the lodge and taking advantage all that was on offer there.

It took us just under 2 hours to get back to Launceston airport. Highly recommended.

This has to be one of the best luxury houses in Tasmania, if not Australia. Its location, with uninterrupted views across the bay from floor to ceiling windows that run the length of the house, is worth the price alone. But step inside and everything reeks of luxury. We stayed with two other couples and each of the separate bedrooms with ensuites were luxurious and spacious. The way they are located in the house means each is private and noise is no issue. The two separate living areas look straight across to the views which are just mesmerising as the weather changes. Comfortable couches and armchairs are in abundance and there is an enormous dining table. A full kitchen is provided with very generous breakfast provisions and an enormous pantry is well stocked. There is more crockery and cutlery than most average homes. Of course there is the mandatory bbq and front deck and if is does get cold a huge double sided open fire is the centerpiece of the living areas . Simply superb, we are going back again next year!

Where to begin . An amazing house to stay in . Pictures do not do it justice . So much space to move . Fabulous stocked pantry . Every luxury . Huge bathrooms . Loads of little extras . The views to die for and loved the visiting wallabies at dusk . It can get a little cool in the evening but with an open fire and heating , all taken care of . There was even Wellies for the wet weather . We bunkered down for 3 days as Tassie weather unpredictable and it was wet . The perfect hideaway . Great job and would recommend it all our friends

Everything people have said about this home is accurate but they didn't mention a few things you might care about. Our family (4 adults-2 kids) stayed for a week and house was great but be aware that there is essentially no internet. So, if you need to stay in touch or do any work it probably won't be possible. Also, while not a problem for us, you should know there is no air conditioning or heat in the bedrooms... suspect this could be an issue at some times of the year.
Also, and this was our fault, not the property's, Hobart and Port Arthur are a long drive away (1.5 hours or so). Things to see near the property were limited so we spent a lot of time driving... Would be a great spot if you just want to relax and kick back, but as a "home base" to explore Tasmania, not ideal. As I said, this is not the fault of the property but something to be aware of.

Hi John P, Thank you for your review. Yes we wish the internet was better but unfortunately we are in a area of poor reception and our wifi is limited. We are expecting NBN sattelite in the near future so this should increase download limits. Telstra and Optus coverage is good and many people now have large data allowances on their mobiles. We are in the centre of the east coast of Tasmania which does allow you to visit attractions both south and north of Dragonfly ( Freycinet and Wineglass 45 mins north, Bicheno 30 mins north and Triabunna/Maria Island 30 mins south). Swansea the closest town is 15mins away which means we sit in a quiet yet not so remote part of Tassie. Wineries and restaurants are all an easy 15 to 30 mins drive but secluded and deserted beaches are only minutes away. Unfortunately not one location allows you to visit all Tasmania's attractions in a day and though we may be a small island in actual size there is a fair distance in time to get to any or all Tasmania's big attractions. Tasmania's climate means cool nights and temperate days. Our bathroom floors are heated, the main living areas are heated/cooled through AC but we chose not to heat the bedrooms as our chinese silk doonahs are luxurious and warm. The house is also highly insulated to keep temperatures moderate. Hot nights are rare and the huge sliding and fly-wired doors in each bedroom means you can open to the outside for ventilation. Regards, Rob
