We stayed at the Madsen in Penguin with our 2 daughters, who spent 2 nights in the Penthouse suite and were very impressed with their stay. My wife and I stayed 1 night in a lovely room overlooking the ocean, and could not fault it. If you are looking for something special in the way of accommodation this has to...

After travelling to Melbourne for a days work then flying to Tasmania, the last thing I needed was lost luggage. An hour after arrival my luggage was sorted and I was on my way to stay in Penguin. After an hours drive and feeling very tired, I arrived to find in Phil, the perfect host, making me aware of all...

Never been to Penguin and the Madsen was the only accommodation we could find. It was such a wonderful surprise. The host Phil was friendly and knew his stuff. We wanted for nothing. Breakfast was amazing. The room we had was smallish but lacked absolutely nothing. It was clean, comfortable and very quiet.

Staying here one night and this was the best welcome we have received. Madsen has a policy that if the room is ready you can check in and do not have to wait until 2pm in the afternoon. The manager is very professional and steps you through the security, bar, and how things work. The hotel is on the road...

The manager phoned during the morning to alert us to a problem. We were double booked and the others booked first. Oh, oh. He offered us a bigger suite, a reduced tariff and our choice of a bottle of wine to compensate. We accepted. He then sent us entry details so that we could check in when it suited us,...

This is a lovely little guest house on the Main Street of Penguin opposite the beach. Our room was very quiet, big enough even with an additional fold out sofa and two cots, the bed was comfy and it had a nice enough bathroom - it didn't have a view which was fine as we weren't planning to be in...

Penguin is just east of Burnie and a quiet little seaside town. The Madsen is a former bank which has been converted into a number of units, and it sits right across from the beach. Lots of facilities including the downstairs bar which runs on the honour system, free WiFi and as much plunger coffee as you can make. This...
