We felt really welcome right from the start until the end of our stay. This hotel has excellent, friendly and very helpful staff. We loved the Christmas surprise for our kids. It really made their day. Will come again.
We stayed at the Premier Inn Washington Hotel recently for a 1 night stay. We arrived quite late at night, and Tracy on reception was fantastic. Very efficient at getting us checked in quickly and explaining all of the information we'd need for our stay. We had planned to go back out to get milk for the toddler, and when I asked Tracy where we could go, she said not to travel back out so late at night and that she would get us a bottle of milk. It might seem like a small gesture to some, but after being on the road for hours with a sleepy, grumpy toddler in tow, her kindness really touched me and I was very grateful. The following afternoon on reception, Kimbo was just as helpful. He kindly stored my suitcase away until my partner could collect us, and sorted my little chap out with another bottle of milk when he'd turned into the Tasmanian Devil as nap time approached. The hotel itself was everything I'd expect from a Premier Inn - clean, very friendly staff, comfortable beds, nice rooms etc. This isn't a criticism, just an observation, but the rooms are very small compared to other Premier Inns I've stayed in. As we had the double bed and single bed, there wasn't much room left, and we had the pram to store and two overnight cases, so it did feel a little tight, but nothing to complain about. I'm just sharing that in case it helps anybody else who might turn up with far too much luggage like we did! There are no baths in the rooms which was fine for one night, but if you were staying longer with a baby/toddler, it could be a problem. The shower head is fitted in, so can't be brought down to rinse the children down, so this would put me off staying for any longer than a night. This is clearly stated on the website when booking though, so again, not a criticism, just information for others. All in all, a very lovely stay at Premier Inn. Just as a final note if you arrive late, there is nothing nearby for food. We arrived at 9pm and went over to the Toby Carvery at 9.10pm, to be told they stopped serving at 9pm (whilst watching them take trays full of carvery food back into the kitchen untouched - either to chuck in the bin or use the next day; who knows?). [Noting that the Toby Carvery is in no way affiliated with Premier Inn; it just happens to be situated on the same complex.] The Premier Inn doesn't have its own restaurant attached and there was nothing else nearby, so we had to drive out to get some food. Just something to note if you are arriving late, to bring food with you or stop somewhere beforehand.…
Had to attend a funeral in Newcastle, booked a room for 2 nights, staff were really friendly, hotel nice and quiet, both nights, breakfast really good and cooked fresh, no dried up bacon and hard eggs really enjoyed the whole experience
Stayed here for a night on the way to Edinburgh, our room was right at the end of the corridor, a very worn room with absolutely no soul what so ever. The room was mostly clean but it was also mostly cold, with a small electric heater which did not provide enough heat to keep us comfortable through the night. But with this in mind, I only paid £29. Would I pay more and stay somewhere else next time? Definitely.
Always amazing service, we have stayed in a lot of hotels over the years and nothing compares to the staff at this premier inn. Everyone that we meet are always so friendly and happy to help. The breakfasts are cooked to perfection, the rooms are immaculate, but above all the feeling of being part of the family that the staff provides is the reason we will always come back
