We stayed at this hotel, now named the cross arms, as we were going for a night out in Newcastle for my sisters birthday. As there was 7 of us we booked the apartment. I first booked this back in December through booking.com where it was stated that the rate for this room was £100 per night. Shortly after confirming...

I arrived after a long train journey to where I thought the Douglas Vaults Hotel should be to find only a pub/hotel called "The Cross Arms". A customer outside said it was the right place. It had changed its name without changing the info on the internet or giving any indication on site of the change. I was then told...

This is a very lovely place for everyone who wants to enjoy the beauty of South Shields. Rooms are cute with their clean facilities and tasteful decor. Perfect if you are just coming for a budget accomodation after busy days as the music from the pub dpwnstairs may not let you fall asleep easily unless you are really tired. However,...

Nothing in the world tops the Grand Canyon, Guilin, or Sintra. Now I can add Northern England where the Tyne River meets the North Sea to my list. The inns are quaint and attractive, but the best place of all is the Douglas Vaults Hotel in South Shields where I stayed this spring for four nights. The outside of the...

I stayed at this inn with a friend and it was the perfect location for days out in the North East and Scotland. In the local area there are a plethora of music venues for local talent.Among the best are Wardles in Hebburn and Flat Tops in Boldon.Admission is free and the standard of entertainment is excellent.Even in midweek there is...

This is great value for money and the staff were very friendly and I had a good stay, the rooms have warm feel not just plain walls and functional. Yes you are above a pub and it can be noisey but if you don't want noise go to travel lodge and stair at the white walls. The Douglas Valts is...

I was staying at Douglas Vaults for a few days when I arrived in the Tyne and Wear region early this year. It was bearable but certainly no good. The bed was uncomfortable and caued a bad back ache. At night it was really loud - too loud to fall asleep before 1am - due to the pub downstairs. Even...

Hi, I’ve been working in the NE and had 11 very good nights in the Douglas Vaults Hotel. The hotel was very clean my room would have been cleaned daily if I wanted; I put my service room card out every 2 days that was good for me. I got clean towels every day. The shower / toilets were very...

Week long stay for work, v. helpful staff, clean and spacious accommodation in the third floor flat, brilliantly redone and a nice bar downstairs. No noise at all on the top floor, easy access wifi, giant asda adjacent. the only sticking point fpr me was the parking restrictions 0800-1800 in the street outside. Would definitely stay again.
