I had a wonderful time at this picturesque pub, just across the street from a church. The chalk line trout was superb, on a plate of pasta with squid-ink, and a cocktail they made especially for that day: gin, cucumber, --can't remember the details, but...More
We’d stayed here 4 years ago and loved it, but noted that the toilet in our room didn’t flush properly. This time, I paid extra to get the same ‘luxury’ room. The toilet was a health and safety hazard, with a poorly secured seat that...More

Hi. The Pub/Inn is approximately 7 miles from the Downs. There are two routes, one via the main road and one the scenic route but both about the same distance and travelling time - about 15 minutes (allow 20 for traffic and more if there's a race meeting to attend). Don't know how much a taxi would cost but ring Ashtead Taxis who are very helpful on 01372 390309 and they should be able to tell you. Hope this helps.
