This is a lovely place to stay for a long or short break, or just for a meal. It's a short drive from Oswestry, or half a day's walk on footpaths through Candy Wood. If you're staying the night and arrive before 5:00 you get complimentary tea and delicious scones by the log fire. Some of the rooms are in...

Great New Year celebrations again at Pen-y-Dyffryn - we have been to this event for the last eleven years and find it unbeatable. To us New Year always seemed a disappointment after the Christmas mayhem until we found this hotel with its comfortable and seemingly effortless hospitality. Beautifully situated and with much local scenery to be enjoyed from the very...

I selected this small, characterful country house hotel as a surprise destination for my husband's birthday. He loves hill-walking - which can be done from the door - and and we both value comfort, peace and quiet, and good food. The family-run hotel is nestled into the hillside, overlooking a small valley marking the boundary (frontier!) between England and Wales....

A welcome return visit. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. The accommodation in the Rectors room was spotless, warm and comfortable, giving a delightful peaceful nights sleep. The food was beautifully cooked using fresh local produce. I'm sure we will be back again.

A fantastic place to go for a relaxing weekend recharging the batteries. The hotel is situated in a beautiful setting and has a lovely homely feel to it, with the most welcoming of staff and delicious food. All in all a great weekend break.

We stayed for the weekend and the staff could not be nicer! The food was delicious every night with the menu changing everyday! Our room had a spa bath and was very nicely decorated. Also the complimentary cream tea and scones on arrival was a nice touch! We will be back soon!

Following a recommendation from a colleague to visit this hotel we arrived to find a hotel that some would say was quirky, but I would say was tired, dusty and full of items procured from second hand shops. I understand that dogs are allowed in this establishment, and our bedroom was testament to that with dirty bottomed net curtains in...

Very sad to read your review. Previous reviewers on Tripadvisor appear to beg to differ. I would strongly dispute the hotel is tired and dusty, not even quirky. And I can assure you that absolutely none of our produce is frozen - we make all our own bread every single day, and absolutely none of our vegetables are frozen, ever....

What a delightful little hotel, in peaceful settings, full of character, excellent food and warm welcomes. We stayed for a small work group team build and were made to feel so welcome. Our dogs loved being able to join us around the fire and on a beautiful walk despite the cold and mud of January. The meals were simply lovely....

We visited this hotel 16 years ago with 2 very young children. Nothing was too much effort and we were all made very welcome and the children accommodated well. We decided to revisit for a special wedding anniversary, without the children, and found that it was the same wonderful place. The staff were friendly and efficient, everything seemed to run...
