We spent last Saturday night at the Waterdine for my parents wedding anniversary. We took the whole place and Isabel and Ken made booking the visit incredibly easy and a pleasure. We arrived at 4ish to tea and lightest Victoria sponge cake I have ever tasted. Then dinner was a choice of 4/5 dishes per course I just don't know...

Stayed in Bumbles - a wooden chalet adjacent to house as we requested a twin room. This is a self catering unit for a family. Clean and comfortable but not luxurious. Lovely views. The food fully matched our expectations with a good choice for all three courses. We would happily go again.

Great service, really good food and lovely views. Will definitely return. A small, friendly place in a beautiful location with a select menu of freshly prepared options like veal, duck and seabass, and gorgeous deserts like banana bread pudding in brandy and caramel sauce. An excellent evening.

This is Michelin star territory without the inflated price tag! Not the largest menu but all the better for it; meaning what is on offer will be fresh and cooked with careful attention. The food is to a high standard with a good wine list to match. This is a former village pub that is now a restaurant and small...

Always a very warm welcome. Dinner menu varied and great quality with a good wine choice. Rooms will give you a good night sleep following by an excellent breakfast. This is a place to stay for an escape to the country.

A truly lovely stay in a quiet hamlet where the only sound is birdsong, we were welcomed at the door on arrival and immediately shown around and offered refreshments. Our room number 2 was spotlessly clean and very comfatable with fresh fruit as well as home made biscuits, tea and coffee with fresh milk stored in a chilled flask, the...

The building is obviously several old cottages knocked into one and is really interesting. The couple that run it are very friendly but are not annoyingly so, and do give you space. We couldn't fault the food and the home made jam and compote is delicious.

Stayed for three nights. The proprietors were very friendly, food very good especially the choice of dried and fresh fruit to accompany muesli for breakfast (and the indulgence of Eggs Benedict one morning), with dinner having some interesting choices including monkfish satay, saddle of deer and runner beans from the garden, which we enjoyed sitting in at teatime. Several wines...

This is a very strange place. From the outside it looks as if it might be a pub, but there is no sign. The only hints it may be a building open to the public are the semblance of a car park across the road a very small sign by the open door, and some old rolled up sample menus...

We are so very sorry you did not enjoy your stay in our home at the Waterdine. What a shame you did not mention you dissatisfaction at the time, allowing us the opportunity to redress matters. You obviously prefer to skulk away and write a cacophony of damaging half truths where even welcoming you at the door, the offer of...

We booked for a long Bank holiday weekend, looking for a out of the way B & B with great food, which Ken obviously has a passion to provide for his guests and restaurant customers. Our room was most comfortable and breakfast a delight with vast choice, looking out onto their wonderful garden and the surrounding hillside and local wildlife....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Waterdine is a 15th-century Welsh long house originally built as a drovers Inn, and extended 100 years later. It still retains many of its original features leaded windows, slate floors, the original brick floor in the old tap room, open fire places - now with wood burners installed. Each of our bedrooms is individually decorated and furnished, to create a warm and welcoming cottage style atmosphere. Every room has en-suite bathroom or shower room Satellite television tea and coffee making facilities etc. All have views of the surrounding countryside. Ken, who is in charge of the kitchen, is an internationally renowned chef - he was the first chef to open a restaurant in Ludlow in 1994, gaining international recognition and many prestigious awards for his cooking at the Oaks. Our menus, based as they are on home grown (from Isabel’s garden) and local or organic produce, evolve with the seasons as the produce becomes available, seafood is delivered fresh off Cornish day boats. The restaurant is open to non-residents as well as house guests offering lunches and dinners throughout the year - please note bookings only. The Waterdine is set in mature gardens, which during the summer make a wonderful place to sit with your pre-dinner drinks whilst you choose you dinner from our seasonal menu. ... more   less
