My daughter is home for a few days so took her out for dinner on her final evening. That's when I realised my mistake. I've certainly left it too long since our last visit. The venue is stunning. The staff were simply first class. And the food, well it was fabulous once more. One thing is for sure, I will...

Close to the market town of Retford Ye Olde Bell is the antithesis of a Travelodge/ Premier Inn. It's a very traditional style of Hotel with the feel of a Gentleman's club to the reception area. We were upgraded to a larger room in the main hotel building and, after a few misgivings over the worn state of the carpet...

Last Sunday my Wife and I entertained 35 guests for our Golden Wedding luncheon in the 1650 room at Ye Olde Bell .It was a delightful occasion with many plaudits for the delicious food and ambience. Mrs.Firth, the Hotel Manager, did a sterling job for us; not only beautifully decorating the room but also with the pre-planning attention to detail. Her...

I booked the Ye Olde Bell restaurant for a celebration meal for my sisters 40th Birthday. We had asked for a quiet table and with easy access due to one family member in a wheelchair. What a fantastic hotel, the building is absolutely fabulous and the food and service exceptional. Will definitely be back and recommend to Family and friends....

An old coaching inn which has rung down the changes since the1400s. Why do we stay here on a cold winters night when we live only thirty minutes away on the edge of Sherwood Forest? Is it because of the log fires? Or perhaps the clock ticking in the hall. Or is it because of the creaking staircase and the...

My wife Hannah used to stay here as a child over Christmas with her family, so we popped in after visiting family in Huddersfield. It's so nice to see something old and traditional, we only had a piece of cake and coffee ☕️ but will be going back for a stay and to try the restaurant.

I'm delighted you'll be coming back to stay and enjoy a meal in Restaurant 1650, when you do please make yourself known and perhaps we can have a chat. Kind regards Kate Firth

Lovely Hotel, Staff, and enjoyable meal. We had booked dinner in the dining room but were advised to move to the Bistro because of other guests behaviour . Our stay was ruined by a noisy company function . The staff did their very best to protect us from very disagreeable behaviour
