Just to let you know we all survived, physically intact, but emotionally we do still wake up with tremors at times. We were shown to a room ( a bit cell like) , no access to fresh air, very damp and mould all over the place, but at least we had our own key. Absolutely no hot water, which is...

Easily the worst hotel I've seen in the last 30 years. Very run down property next to an equally shabby petrol station. On entering the building you are greeted by the stench of dampness. The reception area looks like a pigeon fancier's hut with broken tiles and tools and paperwork scattered all around. The room was ok, but the bathroom...

Booked 2 nights in this hotel via a groupon deal . We drove all the way down from Glasgow, arrived about 4ish place was in darkness, spoke to a lovely chap in petrol station who advised that the hotel is shut for the winter. This is appalling as our deal stated valid until 30/12/2016. We had to book in somewhere...

Bought 2 night with meal from groupon and after reading previous reviews we wasn't expecting much but it was even worse...on arrival a run down shabby petrol station next door to a run down hotel with no lights on (was 5pm) ...on entering it got worse...empty pub smelt fusty, damp and freezing...room very dusty and cobwebs..went in bathroom mouldy, hairs,...

The coldest place I have ever stayed. No heating on just an electric heater in the room, bathroom like the Antarctic. Would never go back. Bathroom never been cleaned behind the door. Positive nice decor in room.

LIke other reviewers I booked with a Groupon which included a free evening meal on one night plus the usual breakfast. We stayed for 2 nights. We arrived at 4pm and the bar area was obviously fairly well used by locals who were very pleasant and friendly. The person we assumed was the manager was very helpful and friendly also....

We had a Groupon deal for three nights bed and breakfast with a two course dinner and glass of wine on the first night. I'll start with the big plus - excellent bed and good quality cotton sheets. Someone has spent money on upgrading the dining area and rooms but that's where the good news ends. The medium rare sirloin...

We booked a one night stay using a voucher from groupon. We arrived to a deserted bar and after a couple minutes of wandering found a man who checked us in. We were shown to a freezing cold room, the room stank of damp and the walls were soaking wet. We were told this was the only room available but...

It's not often that I submit a critical review but the experience my friends and I had when we stopped here for lunch has to be the worst we have experienced in 9 years of cycling trips around the UK. Unfortunately the Knowesgate Inn was the only place we could find for lunch after our morning ride. We entered a...

Where to start....? Okay, we stopped at a dodgy looking place to ask for directions and surprise surprise, this was our destination. There was a bit of a damp smell in the bar, but it was like the Marie Celeste. Nobody around anywhere. The place was deserted, we went round and round and found no-one. Finally I rang the number...
