A relaxing stay in very good quality accommodation, well placed to act a base for exploring the area. Sensible steps were being taken re Covid and Lesley was most welcoming and helpful. Her decision to only let one room at a time meant that we were able to make use of the lounge and the self-service breakfast arrangements worked well.
Stayed for three night owners made your feel welcome so clean and homely would recommend 10/10.parking was available next village Cold stream was a delight to visit lovely pub called Besom does lovely meals
Just stayed at the Birdcage for a couple of nights - first class accommodation, clean comfortable and very friendly hosts. visited with friends who had one room, we had the other so we had access to the sitting room and dining room as we were one group. Breakfast was lovely, with alternative arrangements due to covid. Would highly recommend this property.
We were lucky enough to find this gem of a place. Lesley and Paul are fantastic hosts, and their property is in a brilliant spot to be central to loads of places to visit. Our bedroom had everything we needed and was nice and roomy and very clean. During these covid times, they are only taking one booking at a time for their two rooms, so we had the lounge and breakfast room all to ourselves. Breakfast was self service, and this was fine for us as Lesley filled the fridge with everything we asked for and plenty of it and lovely and fresh. I would have no hesitation to recommend this place. My advice also would be to book direct by ringing them.
We visited this wonderful homely place to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Lesley and Paul were very welcoming and generous with their warmth and had even kindly left us a card and present in our room. The room as with the rest of the establishment was immaculate, full of character and spotless. An amazing breakfast was prepared for us and social distancing etc was adhered to at all times. We enjoyed our stay so much we've said that we'd consider moving to the area at some point as it's simply beautiful. Many thanks and we hope to visit again sooner rather than later :)
Just visited this charming well equipped property, built and run by the owners Lesley and Paul. Rooms were very comfortable and the facilities excellent, our hosts were exceptionally friendly and offered plenty of help on where to eat and visit in the local area. It’s quite remote in one sense but that has its advantages of being away from the busy hustle and bustle of the popular commercial tourist hotspots, yet there’s still plenty to do in and around a 10-15 mile radius. Wouldn’t hesitate in going back, the place is beautiful to look at and spotlessly clean
We selected The Birdcage due to its central country location providing great access to both the coastal and amazing hinterland of AONB for which Northumberland is renowned. The B&B, superbly built by the owners (Paul & Lesley) themselves reflecting the traditional and charming style of the county, was absolutely delightful. Our beautiful room was spotlessly clean and equipped with quality fixtures and fittings, an extremely comfortable bed, an amazing shower room and was so quiet. The village of Cornhill-on-tweed was delightful too with a choice of good eating places within walking distance and one of the very best local shops we’ve ever come across in our travels. Lesley provided an extremely professional, helpful and friendly welcome, making sure any queries were answered. Furthermore her delicious breakfasts were just the fuel we needed for exploring what is a truly magnificent area. It was our first visit to Northumberland but it certainly won't be our last, more discovering to be done and, with that in mind, The Birdcage will be top of our list for a return stay. Well done Paul and Lesley and thank you for making us feel so at home!…
We stayed here for one night whilst visiting family in Berwick. What a lovely B & B! Beautifully appointed & spacious room & superb bathroom. Quiet location. In addition there is a residents lounge too. Lesley is a friendly host & we had a great breakfast in the conservatory. Highly recommended!
Just leaving The Birdcage b&b and canr recommend it highly enough. Lesley and Paul are brilliant hosts and nothing is to much bother for them. Place is lovely and clean with a great breakfast. Canr wait to visit again. Thank you again Lesley and Paul.
We stayed here in June, we received a friendly welcome, the rooms were beautiful, very clean. We could not stay for breakfast as we had to leave early but fresh rolls, cereal, tea and coffee and juice were left for us. Will return.
