If you prefer modern neutral décor, deep pile, craft breakfasts, hot steamy showers, soft duvets and complimentary toiletries (or you find yourself nodding fervently with the more crass contestant of four in a bed), then Charles's and Barbara's gaff is not for you. Likewise, if you are historically and nostalgically derelict - you need read no further. We were six...

Loved this old building, which was filled with antiques and family memorabilia. The hosts were nothing short of devine, and so endearing, allowing us access to their drinks cabinet, without any charge. Nothing was a problem, and the breakfasts were gorgeous. Bamburgh hall farm doesn't have the all mod cons etc, but then that's part of its charm, loved it, and...

From the moment we walked up through the overflowing garden and into the house we felt welcome. It is as if you were staying with family. Charles and Barbara Baker Cresswell were really friendly, thoughtful hosts. The house is steeped in history and interest. Breakfast was lovely, organic and home made. Bamburgh is an interesting village, great places to eat...

We arrived just as the rain was falling but were made very welcome by Barbara who made us tea and jam/honey sandwiches. Throughout our stay Barbara and her husband gave us great attention and showed a genuine interest in our walk and us as individuals. Breakfast was excellent with a wide choice from fruit to cereals to porridge and the...

What a wonderland of antiques and real hospitality . Built in 1676 and owned by the same folks that own the Bamburgh Castle you had a real feel for being there in 1600. Not that it wasn't cozy. With fires ablaze and a complementary welcome drink from a well stocked bar, you felt that you just made it to your...

Had a beautiful couple of days here. An old, cosy manor house & friendly hosts! Feels like staying in somebody's house, rather than a modern hotel, which suits us perfectly. They generously offered us drinks by the fire every evening. Bamburgh is beautiful and the b&b is perfectly located (near the beach & the pub!). Lovely place (as long as...

What an amazing location - beach, countryside and views of Bamburgh castle. Barbara & Charles couldn't be more affable hosts and breakfast was absolutely delicious. Eggs from the garden chickens and freshly picked field mushrooms. Their family home is full of character and history. And while some people preferred to look at the carpet, I preferred to look out the...

We stayed here for a couple of nights and were delighted by the house and our hosts. It felt like a trip back in time with the style and manner of a bygone age. The bed was comfortable, breakfast delicious and we loved the extra touches including a help-yourself drinks table in the guest lounge, complete with ice and slices...

Barbara and Charles are wonderful people who want to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The house exudes character and history and we loved the pictures, photos and books which decorate and are kept in all parts of the house. It is fantastic value for money. Breakfast is served in their gorgeous dining room on a large...

I loved this place. This is not your usual, sterile B&B. It's a real house with real people running it. My room was full of interesting books, paintings and object 'art. The breakfast was wonderful and served in the most beautiful dinning room. The only negative aspect was that I was only able to stay for 1 night.........Longer next time!
