One of the best laid out and appointed hotel rooms I have ever stayed in! Very comfortable. The food was excellent. Breakfast was typical fare but great quality. Evening menu could be better with a greater choice, but then the Bar menu is good too. A very enjoyable stay. Good location for touring the area too.

Booked a Travelzoo deal to break up the journey back from Durham and was very impressed with the hall, the service and the food. Our room,no 10,in the oldest part of the hall was unusually shaped but had adequate space and the only niggle was that the bathroom radiator would not turn off. Fully expected to upgrade from the "Market" menu...

Had an excellent stay here via TravelZoo and my comments here are almost without criticism. Apart from some problems with the booking and the costs , (which we're easily resolved at check in ) I am virtually unable to give anything other than praise to our stay. Dinner from the market menu was absolutely perfect in both preparation and service,and...

This was a pre paid gift - we understand 2 for £20 Lovely gardens, interior, welcoming staff. Piano playing in the background. We were offered a jug of water whilst we waited for our fresh tea which was a nice touch. Served on vintage china. The fresh tea and bits and pieces came in standard hotel style crockery. They'd run...

Thank you for your review, I am pleased you enjoyed your afternoon tea. Many thanks for the feedback it seems our afternoon teas are getting more popular so perhaps now is the time for us to invest in some more racks. Vintage crockery is something we have introduced comparatively recently and seems to have been greeted with enthusiasm from our...

Just arrived home from our three night stay at Monk Fryston Hotel. The food (and wine) was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is full of old school charm and history. The grounds are well maintained and the nearby woodland walk was an unexpected pleasure, especially as we had taken our little dog on his...

Thank you for your review, I am so pleased we exceeded your expectations. As a dog owner myself I know that leaving them behind when you go away is always hard. I am so pleased you felt welcome and you and your little dog enjoyed your visit and may return.

A few days stay and worth the trip even if only for the al acarte food and the bar. Bathrooms could do with an upgrade so they reflect the grandeur of the building but on the whole very pleasant stay.

Went on a Travelzoo break for one night. Our room was in need of refurbishment. The hotel itself was fairly good - the grounds were well kept and very extensive. The staff were all very helpful and had everything pitched just right. The real highlight was the food - we had dinner from the Market menu which was excellent and...

Visited this beautiful Hotel last week. It was the perfect place for a few days R & R. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the main rooms were just beautifully decorated. The main building was nearly 1000 years old, but had been very well brought up to date. Our room (No. 7) was in the main building and was excellent....

Thank you for your review, I am so pleased you had a relaxing stay. My partner, co director and style guru will be delighted that you approve of the decor. Sympathetically bringing a historic building up to date without loosing any of it's charm and character is certainly a skill.
