Simply superb in every way. Wonderful staff, immaculate comfortable rooms with the most amazing attention to detail, gorgeous food in the restaurant, a warm welcome in the pub bar, excellent breakfast. My advice to any hotelier is visit The Star (or the Pheasant) if you wish to see true excellent service in action. Not naming any names - but the...

The food tasted great and the surroundings were what we expected but a couple of things! We were a party of 4, when we got our starters 3 came out and then we waited 4/5 mins for the 4th, same happened on the mains and to the same person unfortunately so she was asking if she had ordered difficult things!...

Sunday lunch with family and friends was an absolute delight. This picturesque, thatched Inn with rooms is located in the small village of Harome, just outside the market town of Helmsley, North Yorkshire. We dined in the 'new' restaurant section, overlooking the wonderful gardens where we had enjoyed pre-lunch drinks. Service was seamless and very friendly, yet professional. The head...

The food here is quirky, intensely local, full of flavour surprises - the breads are just stunning! - and the ambience of the restaurant, well it's like visiting a slightly batty old relative who has been collecting bric-a-brac for decades. The staff are brilliant too. Not cheap, but a unique experience worth every penny.

We were delighted with our room, possibly the most luxurious we've ever stayed in but we were far less happy with the food - the main focus of the stay. We confirmed with the receptionist on arrival...

What can I say other that outstanding. Had the tasting menu, and you clearly get what you pay for. From the moment we arrived and were seated in the exquisite restaurant we felt special. The food was delightful can't really say any more. It needs to be experienced.

Had a trip out just to eat here after hearing many good things. Starters were great. Staff were helpful throughout. However the mains were really not good, seemed to be strange combinations which weren't executed very well. We had the specials which were recommended, mistake. One meal in particular featured wild garlic but this was so overpowering that it ruined...
