We visited with friends for my friend's birthday meal. The hotel is beautiful, with lovely gardens and a really nice layout inside, plenty of comfy seating plus a traditional dining room. The service was impeccable, professional, attentive and warm and witty. And the food was absolutely awesome! Seafood platter included scallops in shrimp and brown butter, mussels, smoked salmon and...

We had a lovely dinner taken in the conservatory which was glorious. It was a wet day and it was just cheering to be outside in the light. The food was beautifully presented and tasted fresh local and interesting. The breads were marvellous. We were not staying here-but it looks charming and it would be wonderful for a break.

Booked dinner, B&B as a surprise birthday treat for my husband & had a lovely time. Everything about The Pheasant is understated luxury, from the beautifully decorated bedrooms (with a welcoming miniature bottle of local sloe gin) to the delicious food all individually prepared and friendly, attentive staff, we felt thoroughly spoilt! The kitchen team were very helpful in relation...

We booked in for one night as we were attending a wedding in the village but wished could have stayed longer! We will be back. A few weeks ago we went to find the hotel and were given a great welcome so we were definitely looking forward to our stay. Our room was spacious and comfortable, breakfast was delicious and...

The hotel is in a beautiful setting. The rooms are furnished to a high standard (we stayed in Locksley) and extremely comfortable. Our niece's wedding was perfect in every way. The meal and staff first class and I would certainly recommend the Pheasant as an excellent place to stay if you want to explore Helmsley and North Yorkshire.

We have stayed at the pheasant a couple of times before and really love the area. The staff are excellent, food amazing and the accommodation lovely. We have stayed in Plum Cottage a couple of times which has a roll top bath in the main room and an outdoor decked area overlooking the herb/vegetable garden. The restaurant is lovely, a...

We had a family weekend here including 2 toddlers. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and everyone was so friendly. The bedrooms are clean and really comfortable and I really didn't want to get out of the oh so comfortable bed! The bathroom was small and my only little criticism would be that the lighting was too dim...

Our first night away without the kids for a long time..... Great room, lovely location, friendly staff and exceptional food. The sommelier stood out as being very helpful, friendly and unpretentious. As a special night away to romance your partner or just to get back in their good books - this is a first choice venue! Highly recommended and we...

Perfect welcome and good first impression. Room was large and comfortable but in need of some updating. Decorating had been done on the walls as there was still masking tape next to the wardrobe! This highlighted how overdue the ceiling was, the wallpaper was past it. The curtains were nice quality but very very faded. Plenty of storage. The biscuits...

We booked the suite for our wedding anniversary. The accommodation and everything about the hotel was absolutely first rate. The staff were most welcoming and helpful, my wife's gluten free diet no problem, the food and location just superb

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Pheasant has arguably one of the most beautiful Country Hotel settings in North Yorkshire, over looking the duck pond in the picturesque village of Harome. Originally converted from what had been the blacksmith's shop, village shop and barns, the main part of the hotel offers one single and eleven double rooms, whilst in the sheltered courtyard are two suites, the Pheasant Suite and Plum Cottage, each with its own private entrance, two further family rooms which each have two bedrooms and the heated indoor swimming pool. The stylish and highly individual interiors - designed by Director Jacquie Pern - give the accommodation a homely and welcome feel, which continues throughout the public areas: the lounge, bar, conservatory, dining room and terrace, providing a variety of options of where to eat or enjoy a drink. The Pheasant has established a reputation for great food under the capable hands of Chef/Director Peter Neville. Residents and non-residents can choose from a wide range of menus, all taking advantage of the wealth of local, seasonal produce, including a fixed price daily Market Menu, the A la Carte, and a Tasting Menu with optional matched wine package. The Pheasant has been awarded Welcome to Yorkshire's "Small Hotel of the Year 2016". In 2014 The Pheasant was awarded the Yorkshire Life "Small but Special Accommodation" Award. The Hotel has recently been awarded Three AA Red Stars Inspectors' Choice Country House Hotel. Seasonal and special breaks are available throughout the year. ... more   less
