Early afternoon tea in January at the best restaurant in town - what a delicious and heartwarming prospect. I was looking forward to the pleasant comfortable room, super damask napery, best china crockery, choice of exotic teas, creative and original sandwich fillings, super scones, delicious little cakes and friendly and attentive service. High expectations, unfortunately not quite met on this...

We try and visit once a year as a post - Christmas treat and it has never failed to delight. The rooms are beautifully warm and luxurious which is exactly what was needed on a cold, dreary January day and the perfect place to stagger up to after partaking of a sublime meal. From the delicious appetisers served in the...

Greeted upon arrival and shown to room - good sized room with large bathroom featuring double basins and large shower. Room has stairlift outside and appears suitable for disabled/wheelchairs. Twin beds were very comfortable. Staff are welcoming and service was excellent. Food was very good - a varied menu to suit most people and very good wine list. We thought...

Excellent, attentive service and wonderful food that never fails to surprise. Not cheap but never felt overcharged. Excellent for a special occasion. Lunchtime and evening menus are both great and there is an extensive wine list. Would highly recommend the best I have eaten in Lincolnshire.

We had a great time there and enjoyed the local food and friendly service. I would definitely go back again. We went on a very hot weekend day so the place was quiet. Book ahead to be sure to get a table.

A small & very well-run restaurant. Service impeccable without being to 'intrusive'. Food cooked to perfection, choice of menu not overpowering, just enough to satisfy most palates. Atmosphere very calm & music mainly very pleasant! For what we sere served the price was extremely fair. We shall be back one day!

We've now visited twice a Wednesday lunchtime, and a Wednesday evening. My wife and I tried the restaurant during the lunchtime, having promised ourselves to do so for at least the last 10 years! Car parking is better in the town centre, as outside in the layby was full and as it's in a residential area parking a bit hit...

Our childen gave us a voucher for dinner at Magpies as a Christmas present and it was a wonderful evening spent in pleasant suroundings and great company. The choice of dishes on the menu surpassed expectations and the evening was a gastronomic delight. The service and presentation was excellent and we were given plenty of time to enjoy each course....

My friend and I went for afternoon tea. When we arrived we were greeted at the door by a lovely gentleman, who showed us through to where we were sitting. He was very polite throughout our whole visit. The waitress then came through to set up our table she too was polite. We also got offered to sample a dessert...
