I love an afternoon tea. I try to fit one in at every available opportunity! The Dovedale always offers a great choice of sandwiches with theirs & I love how tasty the little cake selection is. The scones are huge & I'm never disappointed. Go on, treat yourself, I'll be visiting again in the near future. Yummy!

Close to the centre yet tucked away, a lovely hotel with really lovely staff. Arrived early for a weekend with friends and was greeted with smiling faces and a warm welcome. Made an effort to enable early check in and looked after us well. Nice breakfast, comfortable rooms and professional, friendly staff :-)

We were a family of four that visited The Dovedale for Sunday lunch recently and all agreed that all aspects of our visit were excellent. The staff were polite and helpful, despite being fairly busy, and the food couldn't be faulted at all. Three of us had a roast dinner, and one chose the haddock and chips. The ambience was...

Great clean place. Location a 2 minute walk from the pubs and night life. There is a nice outside summerhouse type shelter but not used in winter. Worth a stay. Prices good for what you get. Staff didnt really appear happy but i guess we all have our off days.

The Dovedale Hotel is located Albert Road, a short walk away from the promenade. It is also handy for the town’s small shopping street, St Peter’s Avenue. We were not impressed by the welcome we received on our arrival. The receptionist was rather off-hand, not very professional but not unfriendly. The first impressions of the hotel were not unfavourable. To...

We were in one the dog friendly rooms. The room was clean on arrival and we were able to check in early the bed linen and towels were all nice and clean. The staff we had contact with were all polite and friendly. The room was very tired and appears as though they've been polishing a turd for quite a...

Christmas Lunch £65 per head and was no better than a microwave meal for one. Food was cold, service was poor, veg was undercooked, I couldn't even put a knife through my sprouts. Gravy which was advertised as rich was as thin and tasteless as dishwater. Turkey was fatty and like those you get in a pre packed foil dish....
