Couldn't believe the response when I asked for mashed potato with my meal. First excuse was that mash 'was not ready' but when the couple opposite were served mash with their meal the excuse changed to 'we only make enough mash for some meals'!!! Thank goodness there are other eating establishments close by with a better attitude to customer service.

Called in during a short visit to Garstang. Had Cumberland sausage and chips which was a good sized portion and really tasty - the real chips were much better than the frozen variety usually served in pubs!! Service was very friendly and efficient even though the place was really busy.

Ordered the Scampi but it was not what I expected. It was small, battered and slightly greasy. It was also served with half a plate full of salad (OK if you like salad!). The chips were good but I could have bought two portions of good chips from the nearby chippy for a lot less than the £20+ it cost...

Went for lunch and really fancied the ploughmans lunch. Was very disappointed when it came as it was basically a bread roll with half a pound of cheese a pickled onion some ham and enough salad to feed the whole room.So really it equated to a cheese and ham sandwich .Not a patch on any ploughmans that I have had elsewhere...

Fantastic place, rooms great bed and breakfast reasonably priced, breakfast well cooked, was able to order kippers really nice touch. The food in the evenings was to die for. The landlady worked really hard and seemed to keep her finger on the pulse, she was there late night first thing in the morning x 5star

Food is always excellent here. Fish Dishes are wonderful. Service is very pleasant here. Pets are allowed and the ambience is really good. Quite old fashioned in side but that's the way we like it. Parking at the back of the hotel.

Brilliant choice of foods and good service. We had chicken stir fry and rice which was delicious. The prices are reasonable too. Right in the centre of Garstang which has lots of little shops to look in after lunch. Well done Royal Oak

We visited The Royal Oak last Sunday evening. The food is just lovely here. There were 3 adults and one child at our table. The pub was fairly busy even though it was early evening with plenty of people eating or just drinking. It's obviously popular with the locals. We ordered the gammon, madras curry, ploughman's and then for our...

Had a meal here last evening and - as usual - the food was very good. The menu is extensive and varied. The staff are friendly and efficient and the whole place has a good atmosphere because it is usually quite busy.
