Third visit to this traditional hotel. Family run with excellent breakfasts from an Aga and lots of momentoes. Limited en-suite facilities but copious bathrooms and plenty of hot water for a very effective shower. Hotel really pulls the stops out for the annual Beer and Buses weekend: an array of craft ales and ciders and for Saturday evening a local duo played excellent guitar hits from the 60’s and 70’s to an audience perched on the sea wall until after darkness had fallen.

We booked some time ago for the Beer and Buses weekend, and were glad we did.

William, his family and staff were so welcoming and helpful, a beautiful room with amazing sea views (ask for room 3).

Bare in mind this is a family run hotel, not a corporate giant, so enjoy it for for its quirks and homely feel.

In the evening they laid on a pig roast with live music, and a range of local pies were also on offer - a good range of ales for the event too.

Breakfast was lovely, buffet style but great quality and freshly cooked, hubby loved his Kippers which were cooked to order.

We will be back for Sunday lunch soon, and will book another stay too.

Mary provides homemade British cooking and William and their staff maintain a cheery atmosphere at mealtime. Happy children pad around her lounge and entertain themselves with snooker and table tennis in an ancient games room. The views are fantastic and it is a 2 mins for morning dip in the sea. Loved it!

Just had another splendid week at Northbank - had lovely room on top floor with magnificent sea view,,,,Being a non breakfast eating townie Marys eggs, bacon, sausages, toms - let alone the kippers were a must. Didn't even try to say no. Her dinners were delicious too and lots of the veg come from their allotment. Hotel owned and run by wonderful and welcoming Shaw Yates family. Situated right on the sea - well theres the garden with a wall, and on other side of wall there is a path which runs along the beach. Lots of our group would rush down and swim before breakfast. Decor pretty vintage which adds to the nostalgic feel and charm of the place. If you like pale, matching and en suite this is NOT for you. The baths are lovely and deep and comfortable and I always had hot water. The public rooms - dining room, lounge and bar are all v comfortable and look out onto the Solent. And the TV lounge has a wonderful selection of books (lots of thrillers) from the 50s and 60s.

Just back from another wonderful week staying at the Northbank Hotel. This amazing family run hotel is unique, the location amazing and views from many of the rooms have the most perfect sea views. It's really good for groups and big family get togethers with Mary and all her family providing a relaxed and welcoming stay. Good swimming with the beach one minute away through the secret garden gate and rock pools for big and little kids to explore. Wonderful walks and sweet peaceful Seaview village to explore. Comfortable baggy armchairs in the lounge to relax in and read a good or rubbish book. Tables and chairs in the garden to sip a G&T and watch sunsets and the big liners pass by in the Solent. I go as part of an art group and it is our 18th year there... it is that good. We are lucky and as well as great British breakfasts, Mary cooks us evening meals on her Aga with vegetables straight from her allotment. It is not a modern hotel, If you want plastic perfection, indifferent staff and plastic smiles then this place is definitely not for you. If you love the extraordinary, charming, funny and truly nostalgic then the Northbank is definitely is your thing.
