I came in here prior to checking in to my hotel and was basically overwhelmed instantly by the smell of weed. There was a argugement going on in the corner and the entire place just screamed where depression goes to die!
I would not recommend this place for anyone, i only wanted a quiet night and got started on by a a utility company called MMB staff that was staying there. this hotel needs to pick the kind of people that stay there and respect all of the public..... please stay somewhere Safe
You understand what type of pub it is after walking through the front door. The staff where all drunk and rude. A fight managed to break out in the very short time I was here. I'd rather stick my genitals in a bees nest than drink here again.
Made to feel welcome from first few minutes and checked on regularly. Cannot fault the hospitality of this place. Can’t wait to see the finished results of refurb in progress. Have already booked to return.
I booked this hotel as it was cheap and very central to amenities. This was my son (10) and I for his 11th birthday. The stairways smelt and the noise was really bad. Foul language, screaming and shouting until 2.30am then at 3.30am shouting in the hall outside our room. When i opened the door to ask if could keep noise down, as had woken my son I could see a drunk layed on the floor shouting it my f...ing pub Vic to a girl. They continued to bang, make loads of noise and he repeatedly shouting its my f...ing pub. Then at 6am I could hear him being sick above and then out of the window, straight down on to my window below. I'm writing this before we've even left, so you never know, could be more yet! Avoid like the plague if i were you.
I've seen better prison accomodation! The main issue with this hotel is the noise. It's above essentially a sorts bar and pub. So no sleep until about 12 p.m. Not good if you have kids with you. Also noise from the street and fights breaking out can be unpleasant. Problem is it for not tell you any of this on the booking sites. Bed was uncomfortable and the shower useless. The family room you can barely move around as there is no room between the beds. The door to your room looks like it's been forced a hundred times and the whole place has a look of an old brothel! Avoid.
Stayed here for a 2 night stay for a quick break away. Wanted it to be cheap and cheerful which is why this hotel was booked. To be fair the room and sheets were clean and the room was of a good size. Staff also were very friendly. That's pretty much all the good stuff. If not for the things below i would rate a average. Noise - bar is very noisy at night and this could be heard in the room. We stayed on a Monday and Tuesday night, so wouldn't expect it to be that bad, but you would be wrong. Lots of noise, and it sounded like 2 fights kicked off on the Tuesday night, would hate to see whats its like on a weekend.... Also showers in the room whilst powerful and hot are incredibly noisy, sounds like a jet taking off. There was a very strong and unpleasant smell of Marijuana in the corridors (not in rooms). I think this was coming from the room above which i believe may be a permanent resident. very off putting and not acceptable. Random clutter, old furniture in corridors and bathrooms with no doors. No need for this especially when these lead to the rooms. I don't like to give poor reviews, but if the above was sorted then i would say Average. I wouldn't stay again.…
I booked this hotel as just wanted one night cheap stay. Took us half hour to even get to our room.all carpets leading to our room were dirty. There were units and old bed outside our room. None of the carpets matched. (No breakfast) bed was ok. Only one little pillow each. TV never worked. Only 2 teabags. Was kept awake till 2am. With screaming out the front of the pub. So had no sleep. Would never stay there again. They should of paid us to stay there. Was disgusting. Couldnt wait to leave. Never saw any manager of the hotel to ask if everything was ok. We didnt even book out. Just left in a hurry😩
What can I say, booked here because it was the only hotel offering spaces due to Cowes week which has been cancelled due to corona. Should of took the opportunity to cancel and rebook somewhere else however didn’t and we should of known better as we lived in Ryde for ten years. The room itself was clean though still stunk of cigarettes from years of smoking within the rooms. Some items in the room where broken with the sink barely hanging on to the wall. We didn’t get enough towels, tea/coffee, or pillows and when asked for some more was totally ignored. I believe some rooms are not en-suite as there is a shared bathroom and toilet in the creaky corridor, these smell great in the mornings. Ours was, but it’s been built into a room that’s been split so we could’t open the window. The shower was noisy and took 3 minutes to heat up, I found this strange as it was an electric shower. The cubical isn’t spacious not that I’m a small guy. The pub allows anyone to easily go up stairs as these are located next to the men’s toilet which was especially ripe early in the evening with a strong urine smell and became worst in late hours, however this time as you walked past you got hungry for cheesy Wotsits. Our TV was faulty, it worked for 5 minutes then lost all the blue and red from the picture so although you could watch it, it was a strange picture but it went with the spirit of the place with the walk up to the room. This is one of Ryde’s pubs which operates smiler to a sports bar and encourages some of Ryde’s finest citizens who like to get louder during the night and forget that there are more words in the English language then just swearing, so don’t come for a early, peaceful night. There is a separate entrance which doesn’t appear commonly used other than this it’s walking through the sticky floors of the pub entrance. You can also at times find a queue to get in with the bouncers policing the entrance and handling the drunks outside. We did start to use this on day 2, this allows you to skip the pub completely and just go straight in to the bedrooms. There is no parking however there is a long stay car park close by which offered a tourist rate for numerous day stays. Worked out at £14 for two days for us. Overall the Travel lodge Is next door It would about the same price and still have the noise, might be a bit cleaner with all aspects of the room working. But if you want a cheap stay and you really don’t care about noise, smell but fancy a beer at 3am this is the hotel for you.…
We stayed here with friends 25/7/20 OMG what can I say (JUST DON’T) The smell hits you when you walk in the pub straight away 🤮 I knew it was a wrong move when I went upto the bar and a customer was telling the Bar tender to put some bleach down the toilet 😱😱 We then went to check our rooms as unfortunately we’d already paid The flooring was all coming up on places, the bedding was clean but the bed was (lumpy) so hard to get to sleep in Our friends had the front bedroom and couldn’t sleep because of the constant noise from the bar below until 2.30am Their sink in the bathroom was cracked All in all it was all very rundown with threadbare carpets and sticky doors that hadn’t been cleaned (all the more worrying because of COVID 19) Avoid at all costs 😱😱😱
