Just returned from a single night stay. Very helpful and friendly staff. Room spotlessly clean and comfortable. Excellent breakfast, with super view over the Solent. Good location, just out of the town centre - about a 5 minute walk down the hill and 10 minute walk back up.
Only one night stay for us on the island - for my cousin to visit the area of a childhood home. Wonderful, friendly hotel. Interesting and charming decor - the Christmas decorations were out of this world!
The owner Margaret was fantastic. So very helpful in these peculiar times Staff friendly and welcoming. Bed extremely comfortable and a lovely and relaxing view .Very quiet location. The breakfasts were amazing ” and a lovely surprise from Margaret... in our room were beautiful roses and a card mentioning our wedding anniversary
What a marvellous place to spend a weekend. Lovely views overlooking the Solent. Traditional rooms. Perfect proper breakfasts. Interesting drawing rooms, full of quirky and fascinating history. All perfectly overseen by Margaret and the team. We shall definitely return to Villa Rothsay.
We stayed here for 2 nights. Loved the quirkiness but unfortunately a few negatives. Location. Further out of town than expected. Easy downhill walk in but uphill in torrential rain after dinner when no taxis available not perfect end to evening. Quite a long wet slog. Soundproofing. Accept this is old property but we seemed to have elephants staying in room above us. When they returned at 1 am sleep was impossible - not helped by their noisy dog. They also smoked on balcony so had to shut our door. Accept this is not hotels fault but did seriously affect our stay Plus points. Bed very comfy. Breakfast good and served by friendly staff. Views from room lovely. Quirky but wouldn't stay again.
We arrived to a wonderful welcome and was shown to a lovely room that had everything we could desire for a perfect weeks stay. The bed was very comfort able. The view from our window that had a small balcony to sit on was amazing. we could watch ships going past on their way to Southampton and when clear could see Portsmouth. We also enjoyed watching some well known liners. The breakfasts were delicious, such a variety to choose from. We would have preferred to have had dinner at the hotel but this was not available. The hotel has history and is full of interesting memorabilia. We would be very happy to stay there again.
We had a wonderful few days at the Villa Rothsay, The hotel is full of character, the bed very comfortable, and we had a marvellous view from our bay window, which opened right up, over the Solent. Many thanks to Margaret for helping to make our stay so enjoyable - nothing was too much for her; and indeed thank you to all the staff, who were very friendly and helpful. We will certainly return if visit Cowes again.
We stayed here for a girly weekend and had a wonderful time. The hotel is steeped in history, charm and memorabilia. The rooms were spacious and clean and the beds so comfortable, slept like a log. The quality and choice of breakfasts was varied and tasted delicious. Full English on Day 1 (fried bread and fried potatoes - heaven) and Eggs benedict for Day 2. Margaret, Miranda and Jackie made us feel very welcome and we will be back - already book for September and this time bringing or friends Cant recommend it highly enough
We have just left today from this most wonderful hotel, the staff, the food, the room and everything about this place is tip top. Magical place with spectacular views of the Solent - did not want to leave. Going back in September for more. First class Restaurants abundant on the island. Thank you Miranda and Margaret x
