The Old Rectory is a really lovely place to stay: a gorgeous, English country house, which has been beautifully furnished and decorated by its owners. We arrived on a sunny afternoon and enjoyed tea and cake in the glorious garden, which our clean, comfortable and spacious bedroom overlooked. Jenny & Chrix made us feel very welcome and we were served... More

I found this tranquil B&B online after much searching. It turned out to be just what my husband and I were looking for. We were greeted by the owner and settled in the beautiful garden for tea, cake and a welcoming chat....perfect. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a delightful view over the garden and sheep field beyond and... More

Our hosts were fascinating and fun with a great sense of humour. The Old Rectory is clearly a much loved home with family photos, pictures and curios. On arrival we were greeted with tea and a very light and tasty slice of cake. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. Although it was not en suite we had sole use... More

I try to avoid prosaic titles when possible but The Old Rectory fully justifies what I have written. This attractive building surrounded by beautiful gardens, with spacious rooms, bedrooms and bathrooms plus the bonus of a Bechstein grand is only one half of the story - the other half is the warm welcome and attention which Jenny and Chrix give... The Old Rectory is everything a bed and breakfast should be. I stayed one night recently and will certainly return If I am in the area again. A warm welcome, a spacious, comfortable room and bath together with an excellent breakfast made for a relaxing stay. The coffee is also 5 star.

We've just spent two nights staying at the Old Rectory, and it couldn't have been better. Jenny and Chrix were amazing, tending to our every need. We were given a cup of tea and melt in the mouth shortbread on our arrival, then shown to our room, overlooking the beautiful garden, and with its own en-suite bathroom. I have rarely... More

We stayed one night only as we were in the area for a wedding. The welcome and stay were very friendly and warm. The hosts were lovely, the room was spacious and had a great view of the garden which was in full flower, the breakfast was a lovely home-cooked, traditional breakfast. The ensuite bathroom was modern and spacious. The... More

We were given such a warm welcome when we arrived, with a cup of tea in the drawing room and s huge slice of home made cake. Jenny asked.our plans for dinner, made recommendations and rang to book us a table at the wonderful Temple Bar. The house is crammed with antiques, quirky touches (I loved the rocking horse on... I can only endorse what others have said. If there is a top two or three B & Bs in the UK, this is amongst them. Jenny & Chrix are generous and warm hosts and go way beyond the basic minimum to make one welcome. The full "Old Rectory" experience....the wood burners going flat out to keep us cosy...the delicious... More
